They hadn't been there to greet him when he woke up. Proudly presenting the Scales back to his hands after all these centuries. And they hadn't been miraculously welcomed back into the Land of the Kais, waiting to embrace their sibling back into this new society they'd created. So this left Retemed with a very puzzling conundrum.
Where in the hell where his brothers?!
Or rather, where out of Hell where they? As they very clearly were not here with him. Scheming their return to glory like they'd always planned. Had they forgotten about him? Had he hidden himself away so spectacularly that they'd convinced themselves there had only ever been three of them? That they were somehow the three horsemen this whole time?
Surely they hadn't left him here out of some form of shame? He knew he'd always been the weakest of them. He was content with that, power was never his goal in life. Yet now he wondered. Had he been some stain on their honour and image that they had simply been waiting for a chance to be rid of him? Had one of caused the Shinjin to turn against him?
It was then that Retemed remembered where he was. Alone and isolated in possibly the ugliest part of hell. Surrounded by horrid black branches with wicked spikes and nary a confidant to speak his mind to. Left alone with his own thoughts for so long it was only natural that he would start concocting wild and bizarre conspiracies.
"No...no...no..." He shook his head softly. "You wouldn't do that to me. We are brothers. Fruit of the same tree. Nothing will shake that bond, not even time itself." He took a deep breath and collected himself.
"The enchantment woke me up just fine, but something must've happened to the broadcast. That was it. You simply didn't hear me when I called for you my brothers." He took a few steps forward, slow and clumsy. He hated being without the Scales. It made him feel cold, and weak.
"Yet I have no power to summon you here. No power to whisper to the void and bring you to me my brothers." His voice was shaky, pathetic and alone as he fell to his knees among the brambles. "Without the Scales I am trapped in Otherworld. Alone and forgotten, like any dead soul."
He raises his head to look up at the swirling black mist of the sky. "I pray now to you my Brothers, come to check the wretched souls of this realm that we have overseen for so long. Whose dealings in mortal life we have toyed with so pleasantly." He looks around for any sight of anything. "Hear this desperate whisper from your dearest brother Retemed."
