BACKGROUND: When the Universe was young, the structure and order that held control over the cosmo’s was still fragile and new. When life sprung first in the cosmo’s, the ogre’s were not enough to police the order of life and death. Four Kai’s took it upon themselves to become these officers of life and death. They were the Horsemen, Four Kais that brought death to the universe.
Cyprus was one of these Kai’s. The four kai’s were born at the same time from a still growing tree. They were tasked with shepreading the dead to the afterlife. To keep the cycle of life and death in motion. That was all they knew, but each of these Kai’s had their own desires. Exploring the living world, even if undeveloped created desires, feelings and emotions unbecoming of Kai’s. Each came to have their own vices. Cyprus was the first to gain such a vice. His vice was conquest. The plundering of slowly growing planets of their treasures. And his actions would have many unintended consequences. Species that could of grown might fallen when his hand took their treasures.
The other three Kai’s grew to have their own vices. War, Pestilence and Death. The Kai’s were considered a great threat. So, the other kais first worked to make Death a much eaiser process to control. To make souls head to the otherworld far easier and to not require the kais to bring them to the fold. Instead, they be brought to the otherworld naturally and the ogre could guide them to heaven or hell. This process took a 1,000 years or so, which left Cyprus and the Horsemen to do as they please for that time. But their crimes were listed and known. Eventually, when the bridge between life and death was solid the other kai’s striked.
The Horsemen were charged for their crimes. There punishment? They knew death too well and the Kais were not one to kill their own kind. They were to be sealed in hell for all of eternity. To not move in time and to be eyes to watch the souls of the underworld. The Four Horsemen of course, refused. And a battle began. The Horsemen were powerful, but the other kais were numerous. And the Kai’s beyond that too powerful for any being to defeat. They were still afterall, Kai’s from normal apples.
So, each of the Horsemen were sealed in hell for millions of years. They hardly existed, their stories becoming to be legends. Many mythology have some sort of doomsday, and many contain idea of horsemen who would rise at the end times. But for millions of year, the Horsemen would lay dormant. However, around 1,000 years ago, Cyprus would be freed. One day, a young ogre attendant broke part of the seal that contained the Horsmen. Cyprus was the first and he bridged the gap. But the other kai’s sealed the gate before his fellow Horsmen could escape. But Cyprus was freed. And not just in body but mind. Living for millions of year in frozen time, he had a change of heart. He no longer wished to just loot for no reason.
No, he wanted to steal for a living. He wanted a challenge out of it. So he set off into the cosmo’s to escape his fellow Kai’s. He formed a legendary band of pirates, the Horsemen. He had a ship made in the image of a grand horse and scoured across the cosmo’s. First he started in the East Galaxay where he had been tasked to guide the death in his time. It took him 700 years to sail through and build his forces. Then it took him 200 years before he got bored of the South Galaxy. Then it took another 112 years for him to drift through the East Galaxy. His travel’s he had become a legend in those regions of space. A fearsome pirate whose ship plundered the heavens and the universe. Which was true, from time to time the ship would vanish for a generation. He’d return to heaven or hell to challenge his fellow kai’s, to plunder their treasures. And escape with a wrecked crew and a need to rebuild what he had lost. And this cycle continued, a cycle of plunder for treasure. For the conquest of planets, to steal what was the most precious to its people. To have a trophy of his cunning and power. Now his sights are set on the North Galaxy.
