The Diablo Desert was an unforgiving place. Water was a rare resource that each and every living thing fought over to ensure their own survival. Plant life that had not adapted to the harsh conditions withered and died within days. And the wildlife? The few animals that managed to make it all the way to adulthood were dangerous, cunning things. They had to be to last that long. This was a place where only the strongest, or luckiest survived.
Unless of course, one had a few tricks up their sleeve.
No matter if it was the beating sun or the cutting wind, Hakumen felt none of it. He did not thirst for water, or stop for rest, as he had no need for such things. The power that thrummed through his artificial body was all he needed to keep walking as he journeyed deeper into the wilderness. The few creatures that had tried to test their luck had been repelled with ease, leaving him to move and think in contemplative silence.
His encounter with the alien hunter, Barracuda, had given him much to think about. For a long time, the swordsman had preferred isolation over companionship that could distract him as he travelled and pondered on what he wanted to do with this new existence of his. But the two had left on amicable terms, despite the interruption from the strange teleporting Saiyan. Surely by now the scientists and magicians would have stopped searching for him? That is if they even had been at all. And if that was true, perhaps he could visit the cities once again. Maybe, he could even return to Central City.
He was not foolish enough to think he could pick his old life back up from where he had left it. But… It had been a long time since he had seen the towering skyscrapers of his home.
It was a pleasant thought, one that Hakumen couldn't help but entertain more as he continued to walk onward into the sandy dunes, leaving a trail of footprints behind him. As far as he could tell he was alone, and the last of the animals that had been keeping their distance behind him had wandered off now that it seemed like their potential prey refused to politely drop dead for them. It was time for him to practice with his blade once more.
