How did Russ end up on Namek? Social media advertising a Tournament of Peace brought him here, an opportunity to trade blows against a variety of martial artists in a confined arena sounds like a hell of a good time. He travels across the cosmos to get to this planet smoothly, but not without delay. Those space travel restrictions are worse than a caffeine withdrawn migraine.

Now he's here standing on a tiled arena, broadcasted on live television. Russ' name and face were captured all over the world in front of eager eyes from millions of people. Should the man continue to hide his battle power from the law, then it's a futile effort. Living an everyday life outside of guardian duties is not possible anymore. Nosy paparazzi are a hurdle Russ will deal with later, his main priority is the opponent he's about to face, an Android constructed to resemble a kid in high school.

His battle power is far below his own but energy readings aren't always accurate, they must have surprises in store for East City's protector. The goal is simple, take down Patchwork and move on to the next fighter, easy right? Russ' eyes were fixated on the mechanical boy, filled with a competitive drive to win.

His mouth smirked, intending to show them everything he's got. Russ aims two fingers at the android, and an electric yellow ball of energy is created at his fingertips. "I'm gonna treat ya like a real fighter Patchwork. Dodge this!" He fired a concentrated energy wave at his foe, making the first move.

Good, Russ wanted him to dodge one of his signature moves to test his reflexes and Patchwork passed with flying colors, in his own robotic-y way. Russ watched him ready a battle stance inspiring the half-Saiyan to do the same. The boy moved close enough to engage in a rapid fists and feet exchange. Russ is prepared for this moment, he enhanced his forearms and ankles with a chaotic blue aura of energy, punching and kicking away the flurry combo in sync with Patchwork's speedy movements.

Russ fights back by throwing a punch aimed at his chest, his fist empowered by the still-present blue energy, a glowing 'Z' mark appears on his knuckle before attempting to leave a painful impact on said chest. "Well you're certainly stronger than the average warrior, with good reaction time to boot." Russ complimented. Patchwork can give a regular fighter on Earth more than a run for their money, Russ wondered if the man was built to be fairly powerful or was it due to cybernetics implanted in him.

The hybrid hops backward to create some distance. "I haven't fought a lot of androids in my career, did a mad scientist put you together?" Sure it was stereotypically insensitive to assume his creator is scientifically evil, but it's not like Russ meant to hurt his feelings.

Russ dashed at Patchwork and attempts to rush down the android with a combo string of his own, four straight punches and a crescent moon kick will suffice.

Damn...that could've gone better. Russ was sure his technique will brand his target, cause an explosion and leave a scuff mark or two. Instead, he used some kind of absorbing skill to feed on his energy like a bowl of spaghetti. Reminds Russ of the time he faced a rude bank robber in a suit of armor, she used a very similar technique to absorb his abilities for self-fulfilling energy. He wonders if all androids and combat suits have a built-in feature to do that.

Patchwork retorts a comeback for Russ' semi-insensitive quip. The guy thought he was an android too? Must not have been around too many Saiyans, it's likely the blue hair threw him off, of course it did. Well it doesn't matter what he thinks, Patchwork is about to get a can of whoop- "UGH!" he was sent back by an attack taken from his own energy, the guy even had the audacity to mimic its aura color.

Russ backflipped in the air and landed on the arena floor safely, minor nicks and scratches and a ruined shirt ain't gonna slow him down. He grinned "I'm not an android, but I can do a mean robot dance." robot jokes...gotta love it.

"Nice shot, MY turn." The earthling Saiyan charged up two large balls of blue energy in both hands and flung them at Patchwork. Whether or not they hit their target, Russ will vanish and reappear behind the droid, attempting to knock him down with a double-spinning kick.

Kami, Russ loves doing that, the old double ki blast distraction. Worked on Jackie in the middle of their training back on Earth, and works on Patchwork as well. The blue vigilante is rewarded for his tactic, another trash-talking comeback is sent his way. Patchy may not have meant it but he indirectly called his competitor stupid by insinuating androids are superior in intellect. Russ can tell it wasn't malicious, the dude's smile was friendly. No hard feelings, it was all in good sport.

Patchwork broke his fall and goes back into action, trying to hook kick Russ in the face. He relied on an Android's perk of being flexible in the joints, moving in angles not humanly possible. Russ didn't know what to make of this stunt, but it looked like it could damage his face. He raised his arms to block and nasty shoe mark is left on his forearms, he would step back to gain space. The wise-cracking Saiyan COULD rely on the same unstable technique he used before. However, Russ is intrigued by Patchwork's thought process. How intelligent are Androids truly?

"I've heard you guys can learn and adapt in battle, let's put that theory to the test." Another string of melee combat is directed at the impulsive Saiyan. To deal with it Russ jumps backward in the air and does a hurricane kick, two large hot pink ki projectiles in the shape of the currency 'Z' logo are heading towards his rival.

Russ wasn't quite finished and decided to create a smokescreen by slamming a ki blast on the ground. He moves around in random directions and attempts to punch his robotic foe in the face inside the thick cloud of smoke.

Patchwork has eyes in the back of his head, he detected Russ's movements and a punch coming for him at high speed. His reflexes are once again top-notch, avoiding the punch gracefully. Patchwork spun around to kick Russ in the back of his skull, using a similar handspring motion as before, his foot landing a blow this time. "Oof!" He stumbled forward and somersaulted on the ground to hide in the smoke again.

Russ charged up that blue energy punch again and lunged at his fellow combatant from another angle, the left side specifically. He attempts to nail him in the ribs or whatever android equivalent of a ribcage, probably a cluster of pipes and wiring. Succeed or fail, Russ grew two extra arms on his back and the fading smoke cleared, showcasing a quadruple-armed Russ in a battle-ready stance. "Some warriors can adapt in battle quicker than others."

The excitable Saiyan pondered if the android can deal with a total of six limbs overloading his pain receptors...do androids feel pain? He hurt him once and it didnt faze him that much, maybe they don't feel any pain at all. "Hiyaaaaa!" Russ dashed forward and attempts to pummel him down with a continuous barrage of fists and shoes including the additional arms for good measure.

Patchwork cooked up one of those annoying barriers to defend himself. To be fair, anyone would've done the same in his shoes. Russ felt the boy's energy was nowhere near depleting and that is one of the advantages androids have Russ envied. They are in a league of their own regarding energy management, a martial artist who trained in stamina control for ten years could never be in the same ballpark as an android's limitless stamina.

Jealous feelings aside, Russ has to keep going, to send a message built-in technology can only get you so far in hand-to-hand combat. A potent side kick is used to end his assault attempting to kick his opponent away. Russ dissolves his extra arms and quickly jumps backward, shooting a volley of ki blasts above Patchwork before landing back on the square floor. He aimed a palm at the traveling energy blasts and stops them abruptly with Telekinesis. He guides them all to go after Patchwork in an attempt to strike him down. Half expecting the humanoid to either run away and avoid it or repel them all with his power.

Regardless of what he does, Russ smiled in silence clearly interested in Patchwork's nimble prowess. In a way, the half-Saiyan is 'training' him in secret despite aiming to win the cash prize.

Russ' smile didn't change, his test paid off as Patchwork chose to match and destroy all of his ki blasts with his own version. In fact, he decided Russ should get a taste of his own medicine and elevated his battle power. The carefree Saiyan clench his teeth sensing he was in trouble, not enough time to dodge all of them and deflecting bullets could end up accidentally hitting the spectators. Holding the fort is the best option. Green energy bullets rained down on the half-breed, puncturing his flesh and clothes like an army of angry hornets. One would expect prominent scratches and slightly torn clothes from the assault, remarkably Russ is unscathed outside of the injury he received at the near beginning of the fight.

Russ mirrored Patchwork's power level and shield himself with a barrier, a blue aura very similar to the energy enhancing his physical attacks except a lot less chaotic and focused on defense. "Right back at cha. I've got a few techniques I haven't shown off yet. For starters, I can make barriers too." He smirks as it dissipated, serving its purpose.

The cobalt half-earthling raised his arm at shoulder level and created a yellow ki sword shaped like a 'Z' akin to Earth's currency logo. He intends to not hold back this time. "I can also make this cool sword, I don't use it much. No time like the present eh? HIYAAA!" Russ powered up to full strength and did a mad sprint toward Patchwork and swiped his weapon across his torso, attempting to inflict major damage. Russ hoped the android has a way to escape a dangerous fate. If not? Then he'll lose the tournament.
