Russ may have been going easy on Patchwork the whole time, but he had spent all of his energy defending himself and using a different technique for the sake of demonstration. Even then Patch managed to lessen the impact of his move despite giving everything he had in base form. A part of him was glad it didn't deal TOO much damage, slicing an android in half on live television will not end well for his reputation.
Russ panted heavy breaths needing a moment's rest to regain his stamina. He stops smiling as he observed Patchwork approaching him, slower in movement for some reason. Did Russ overdo it? Nah, he looks slightly worse than himself but nothing too serious. He could be cautious in fear of what the Saiyan will do next. Lucky for him Russ is tapped out of energy.
Patchwork saw through his ruse and called him out, accusing Russ of not treating him like an opponent and that he held back against him. In his eyes, the vigilante was using him as a test dummy to experience a battle against an android, and he was played like a damn fiddle. The boy acknowledges his disadvantages but the boy is determined to leave the tournament a fellow martial artist who did their best, and that's the kind of fighting spirit Russ likes to hear.
Russ sighs and shrugged his shoulders, might as well tell him the truth. "You got me, no beating around the bush, you're right...there IS a power gap between us." he wasn't boasting about being stronger than him, but addressing the strength difference was necessary.
"I was trying to see what you can do in a fight, draw out your full potential, and I gotta say you're quite the survivor." complimenting his rival's expert use of barriers.
Russ gathered a little bit of strength to ready a battle stance. "Just like you I'm gonna give it my all, and just because I'm out of energy..." he attempts to kick his opponent on the kneecap. "It doesn't mean I can't fight." Russ grinned.
