The Trial of Peace Top 16 Round - Vigil VS Jackie

Jackie didn't have such a fun time in the Prelims. Between the non-fight that Apexle put up, his possessed tirading, and the Destron poisoning that he wouldn't even capitalize beyond monologuing, her 'vacation', as it were, was coming up a bit short. No disrespect to the Namekian people holding the bout. An open bout like this was bound to get the usual suspects. The strong is rarely benevolent or kind. She hoped to face someone like Russ or Nero, but her position so far has been a poor soul who didn't even have his sanity and a Shinjin...

It's so odd. She's met more than her fair share of them at this point and either directly or through stories they haven't necessarily been 'caring' or 'nice'. Ward is supposedly detached from anything not named Namek and the ones she met on Earth past Tiamat was sketchy at the best of times. No clue what they are actually getting up to nowadays. She saw Cyprus in particular was signed up here. So this Vigil was perhaps here to test mortal might as much as the rest of them claimed to. Except that wasn't exactly what she got as she stepped forth to the cheering of the crowd.

The human stood confident. The best of Dragon Clan healers have made the effect of that Destron non-existent moving forwards, the only lingering side effect so far was her sockets getting itchy far more often. She'd look into that, but FIRST- Vigil. Tall guy, aged and boorish compared to the menagerie of other Otherworld beings she's met. And no less the grumpiest of them. Threats aside, the mortal guardian would narrow her eyes down on him for a moment. Until the very moment she had to act, her strength felt no different from any civilian human.

"How kind of ya. But I don't think you'll have to worry about breaking any rules like that. I'm a tough girl."
With the announcer calling for the go, Vigil was the first to launch themselves. Instantly surging to that tournament legal cap of strength on his way forth. She had to anticipate his movement coming over when her guard wasn't at a hundred, but the starting distance between the two fighters gave her PLENTY of room to work with. She'd call forth the flames of the stars, throwing two motes of flame around her body in orbits to suddenly crest that same strength. Holding herself back some to avoid clocking over the legal limit.

"Who's 'they'?!"
She'd shout as she took up a defensive stance, arms coming up to block the enhanced introductory jab. With the contact of fist to the forearm, a new flame erupts over both of her fists, down to the elbows. She'd match his subsequent barrage of punches, only backing up a little from their spot of engagement. Before treading too close by, the master would duck and try count-punched into the Shinjin's gut. Equal parts force and damage behind the forwards jab to get him off her. "There's a lot of dangerous folk out there! Gotta be specific."

Jackie wasn't expecting that much condescension. Because it was a genuine question pretty much everyone would understand asking. Except for this old coot who preferred backing away from his assault and talking down to her like she could scry the universe and divine every little intention a person had. She'd straighten back into proper form after her punching and keep her arms lit. Perking a brow up at him and smiling.

"I prefer actually working out problems the way people should. Talking and thinking. You can divine up any little answer or scenario you want and it wouldn't hold a candle to the pragmatic."
Those names did ring familiar, however. But the way in which this Shinjin described them was a little silly. At worse, they were a bit shifty and clueless as to etiquette found on Earth. No clue what or how they would try and do an 'atrocity' when they were so bluntly out of their element in just the short meeting with them. The thoughts of a ruse crossed her mind for a moment, but she knew this man even less than them. She'd brace herself for the impact of another clash. "Those two, huh."

Rather than opting to smash one of the flaming fists into this weighted jab, she'd throw an arm up to catch it. A mix of adrenaline and fiery ki kept her stationary. Unmoving from her position on the tiles. Before he could back off from his failed attempt to smash into her jaw she'd throw yet another counter haymaker his way with the other arm. This time throwing off flame in unison with the smash to propel more concussive energy in a tiny blast from her fist. If this first one missed, she'd try to get him with the other after throwing off his arm. Regardless of hitting him or not, she'd take a step to the side. Her flaming arms had dissipated with the different techniques used.

"Well, can't say they weren't in a funny place when I last saw them. But committing any atrocities? That's a new one. You didn't just scry that up too, huh. Past experience? Or are you lying to my face to get more dunks on me?"
She was human, fallible as they came, but she took grave offense to be called a fake guardian by some of these shinjin who only came out of the woodwork for a personal problem or a specific goal. "Congratulations on waiting for permission before doing anything about it though. Glass house, buddy." She doubts he'd understand the saying, but it made for good smack talk for the crowd at least. She'd offer a distracting ki blast in the middle of smack talk. Throwing orange blasts at range while he had time to think about this.

"And declaring it in public? If they were really a threat, you'd care a little more to not alert them before getting the drop. Doing a pretty bad job trying to catch them in a tournament of all places. Whole thing falls apart if you lose!"
