The half-blood bit her lip in silence, aware that Taori speaking favorably of the Tuffles in ANY capacity might rally some of the more radical Saiyans against his reign immediately. There were still groups out there seeking the total extermination or subjugation of their technologically-inclined neighbors. "Right. As I said, this suit is... mostly a relic by now. An amplifier to channel my own power through rather than something hooked up to a battery to compensate." She still had blasters and shields that operated independently, but Amara was VERY capable of holding her own against powerful enemies without them.
Oh no. He was powering up. Amara exhaled through her nose, well aware that LETTING your enemy crouch and charge Ki was a cardinal sin, but it wasn't like she had a better option. Taori's energy had increased noticeably, and while his raw speed wasn't hindered, his agility certainly was with all that extra power under his control. Amara held up a pair of cupped hands, catching his initial kick with a smart block and sliding back as he flipped into the air. "Crap."
As his actual attack came crashing down - a beam wave - Amara moved even faster than before. A surge of sparks followed her movement, the Queen leaping into the air and skirting just above the flow of energy, rearing back a fist to sock Taori in his face!

Sure, speaking favorably of the Tuffles might anger some of the more radical bunch out of the Saiyans... But Taori didn't really care about that. What, was he expected to just act racist his entire reign? That wouldn't exactly do, in his opinion. He'd never been one to bite his tongue about what was on his mind, and he certainly didn't plan on starting to now.
Either way, Amara had still managed to garner enough speed to dodge out of the way of his beam attack, but he could tell it had certainly required more effort to do so on her part, which made him crack a smile. She likely couldn't keep up with him for too long if he was able to keep up his barrage. She did take the opportunity to fire a counterattack at Taori, and while it certainly seemed like her punch was going to have quite a bit of force behind it, Taori wasn't in a position to feel threatened by strikes like these.
He reeled his own fist back, then punched forward with a rather impressive amount of force for how little energy he'd had to expend. His fist clashed with Amara and overpowered it, knocking hers aside as his whole body thrust forward and continued its moment towards the Tuffle's face!
Taori counters Amara's attack with a Curveball punch, overpowering it with a 34,000 PL (40%) attack and sending the remaining 17,000 PL damage her way!
Taori's knack for politics was refreshing, if not dangerous. She understood that he wouldn't be scared into saying anything other than what he felt, but INITIAL stability was important. What would happen if that budding little faction of dissenters decided to riot after his coronation?
"That's going to get annoying." Amara noted quietly, well aware that her superior speed and Taori's inability to land a solid hit on her so far were probably irritating for him. The two paths laid before her were simple: keep dodging until they were both equally depleted, or take a hit and try and sock him hard back. The latter seemed foolish, given Taori's monolithic strength. Trying to face him head-on was like trying to extinguish the sun with a water gun.
As Taori aimed to strike her in a more vulnerable spot, Amara broke away with another burst of speed. The Queen circled behind her enemy, attempting to drive a brutal kick into his back to send him spiraling back down into the ground below. "Come now Taori! Surely you can hit me harder than that!" It was obvious bait, but one she hoped he'd take. This time - if the aspiring King attacked again - she wouldn't be evading it.
ACTIVE TRANSFORMATIONS: MAX Power (+10% to Techniques)
Amara's sheer speed was a bit of a mystery to Taori, admittedly, as he certainly had never met any Saiyans who could move quite as fast as she could, although he supposed it may have had something to do with her Tuffle genes. Perhaps the might of a Saiyan mixed with the agility of a Tuffle truly was a winning sort of combination when it make to making a powerful warrior - not that most Saiyans or Tuffles would be interested in breeding for the sole purpose of making strong hybrids. Amara's was an interesting case of genetics, though, that was for certain.
After she'd dodged his attack this time, she appeared behind him and attempted another kick at Taori, though she'd done this a few too many times for him not to be expecting the maneuver. He had turned around almost immediately, and caught her foot between his hands, shoving her away and flying back a few meters to put some distance between the two of them for the moment. And, at her goading, he cracked another grin.
She had to have a trick up her sleeve if she was actively inviting attacks from him, and, well, he was feeling like he may as well oblige. "If you insist!" he shouted back before flinging himself at her quite rapidly, spiraling into a forward somersault that would culminate in a kick from over her head. If it landed, it'd pack more than enough of a punch to send Amara smashing down into the throne room floor below them!
After the blow, though, Taori let out a wheeze of air and felt his muscles lax up as he dropped out of his empowered state. Though it gave him a much-needed edge in the fight, it was rather exhausting to maintain for too long. He could always reenter it later, if needed.
Taori sends a momentum-boosted Get Your Kicks at Amara for 59,500 PL (70%) damage! He then drops out of the MAX Power form!
Maybe it was genes, perhaps it was luck, but Amara considered her skills her own. Her speed had to be honed over the past two years in the crucible of deadly combat and had become one of her greatest assets against enemies that always seemed to outpace her. It had proven useless in the face of Lottus and the might of a Super Saiyan - though that incident had only compelled her to grow even stronger. Gah. She really didn't wanna stay up in the air when indoors, though Taori was growing wise enough to predict her orbital kick.
As the Saiyan roared in close, she suppressed the urge to move - meeting his attack with raised forearms and taking the hit directly. Amara plummeted like a stone, crashing into the ground with a plume of dust. Yet from the smoke came a massive torrent of blue flame, hungrily reaching up like a grasping monster toward the exhausted Taori. Her fire burned bright but different - the Saiyan wouldn't find himself with burns (unless she willed it), but rather a drain on his very vitality that would continue to inexorably eat away at him. ...She really needed to make more powerful versions of this thing.
Incredibly, Taori had actually managed a solid hit on Amara, his foot cracking with a thunderous might down upon her head and sending her smashing to the floor below, which kicked up a large amount of dust and debris. However, the energy Taori had expended to make the maneuver had left him fairly vulnerable, meaning he could do little to respond as out from the debris shot a snake of blue flame that engulfed him, prompting him to grit his teeth and hold up his arms in front of himself as he absorbed the blow, which stung his forearms and torso more than he'd have liked. Amara must have decided to save her energy for that attack instead of blocking his own, Taori surmised, although with how hard she'd been hit there, he had to wonder if her gamble was worth its cost.
Taori descended back to the floor below, shaking his arms off as the stinging from Amara's attack was lasting an unusually long amount of time, as though it were continuing to eat way at his flesh even after it had faded. ...She hadn't just fired Destron at him, had she? ...No, this was different than the sting of Destron. A technique of her own, he had to assume. As the dust cleared, Taori was able to see Amara again, who wasn't looking so hot anymore herself.
"Neither of us have been sitting idle since the last time we fought, clearly," he stated as he took a moment to catch his breath, which was harder to do than usual with how his arms continued to burn. "We're just getting started here, though."Neither of them had truly tapped into their full power reserves yet. And Taori decided he wouldn't for the moment, though it was only a matter of time until one of them chose to escalate to the next level.

Amara pulled herself from the rubble with a wince, wiping away a stray trail of blood from her mouth. While the initial impact of her attack on Taori may have seemed like a poor trade for the damage she took, the aftereffects quickly made it clear that wasn't the case. She stood tall, shaking free loose dust and debris before smirking at her opponent: "You look good in blue. You want another dose?" A flickering, sputtering flame formed in the Queen's palm, though she hadn't the energy to actually fling anything of that caliber at Taori again yet.
"Mm. Clearly." Amara hadn't grown enough for her liking. While the likes of Lottus soared to triple digits in a few months, she was hard at work chipping away at each and every power boost. Some Saiyans were so arrogant about their strength when most of it didn't even come from actual effort on their part - just genetics. "Are you sure?" Her eyes glimmered with an unspoken challenge. "Who says we have to make it that much more of a spectacle?" Amara's palm shot out, another blistering fast blast of weak energy heading for Taori. She could've simply kept stalling and chipping away at him whenever he made a mistake, but this battle HAD an outcome in mind: one she'd need to work toward.
Taori let out a snort as Amara stated he 'looked good in blue.' His arms did indeed, now that he looked at them, have a bit of a blue stain to them, which was likely what was causing that persistent pain. "I think I'll pass,"Taori commented as he shook out his arms once more. This wasn't going to be a lasting side effect, was it? Taori knew some Saiyans who'd been hit by nasty dosages of Destron that had suffered from their burns for years after they were initially hit. He'd been lucky to have avoided getting hit by anything quite so nasty during his time in the trenches, though the stinging sensation did bring back a few unpleasant memories of his younger years as a soldier.
Meanwhile, Amara was already ready to go yet again, quickly firing off a shot that barreled towards Taori with more speed than he'd have liked. Well, whatever, if she was ready to start firing stuff at him already, he might as well fire back. Taori was quick to summon up a ball of ki in his palm and fling it forward to impact Amara's beam, and it luckily had enough strength to it to burst through entirely, barreling ahead right for his opponent, albeit in a slightly weakened state.
After he fired it, though, the sting in his arms worsened again, causing him to flinch forward and cringe momentarily, although after the wave of pain passed, his arms loosened up again and the blue in them began to fade. Taori, meanwhile, though he was certainly feeling in pain, felt emboldened by how much damage he'd weathered and crouched down into a proper battle stance once more. "Not a spectacle fighter, huh?" he replied to Amara, "I find that hard to believe with how much neon blue you're rocking, there."
Taori counters Amara's blaster attack with a Curveball for 25,500 PL (30%) damage, which overpowers her blast and sends the remaining 12,250 PL damage coming at her! Taori then takes 15% more damage from Bleed, surpassing 100% damage and activating Saiyan Pride!
"Your loss." Though as she feared, Taori was growing even stronger as they fought. Every instinct screamed at her to power up. To win. Her meaningless blast was met with an effortless counter, the weakened orb caught in Amara's outstretched palm. The color of Taori's attack faded and twisted, taken over by a bright blue hue as she tossed it from hand to hand as if admiring it. "The pain from the flame is probably wearing off by now." It was meant as an efficient weapon, not a torture tool. "And you seem to only improve as we go on."
Amara smirked, arm rearing back as she threw the orb back to Taori as if it were a baseball. "The GLOWING just means everything is working. Hardlight is light! Light is bright!" So what if there were some unfortunate shiny side effects. "Your criticisms have been duly noted, and I'll be sure to patch them out in the next version." The Queen frowned to herself, the strain of fighting an uphill battle all too familiar for her rapidly tiring body. She still had a few tricks up her sleeve, but refusing to go all out put her in a sticky situation.
2 MP for a tech boost
Amara uses Livewire (REFLECTIVE) to block the bleed-through before turning damage back on Taori!
Taori's Saiyan blood was boiling now. While he wasn't often pushed to the point where his genes really started to give him the combat edge Saiyans were known for having, whenever it did happen, Taori's heart began to race and his ki energy would flare up tremendously as he became totally attuned to the battle hwas in. If only he didn't have to always get beat up so much before he could enter this sort of flow state - then he'd really be an impressive fighter.
"Well, you know us Saiyans,"he replied as Amara commented on his progressively improving combat ability. "We live for this sort of thing." There was no time to sit idle, though, as Amara took in Taori's attack and seemed to turn it against him, firing it back at Taori with a blast that surely looked to be packing some power behind it. While Taori could expend the last of his energy to evade or block it, he had something better in mind. It'd require a little bit more energy to use, though - which he felt he could now access in spades.
The ki that flared around Taori seemed as though it was suddenly being absorbed back into his body, and he took in a deep, calming breath as he felt some of his vitality return to him. He then cracked a smirk as he swatted away Amara's strike with little effort, and he then leapt up into the air forwards, a battle cry leaving his mouth as he focused his ki into his foot and spun around rapidly in the air, cracking his heel firmly against Amara's chest in an attack that would send her flying back into the wall if it connected properly!
Taori uses his Burning Ki trait, burning 4 MP to instantly regain 2 KP! He then uses Last-Second Swat to block Amara's attack with a 34,000 PL (40%) barrier that fizzles out with her attack! He follows this up with Get Your Kicks, coming at Amara for 51,000 PL (60%) damage!
Amara paid firsthand for failing to account for Taori's second wind. She had barely managed to stave off his increasingly stronger attacks with smart resource management and speed, but her reluctance to keep leaning on that crutch would be her downfall. Temporarily exhausted, she could do nothing but watch as Taori dismantled and her counter and launched forward with another kick. The Queen growled lowly, defiantly raising her arms and forcing out a thin shield to meet his attack. The barrier was only a thin stopgap, dampening the force enough to send her skidding across the floor and to the base of the throne's steps.
At least it'd be over soon. With that much excess energy flowing in Taori's veins for free, the only thing Amara could realistically do was expend all her energy on evasion. It was great at making her a slippery support in conjunction with another fighter, but in duels? Little more than a stalling tactic at this point. The best ending to this battle would be landing one last powerful attack of her own to sell the impact and gravity. For now she'd have to recoup. Amara lowered her arms, breathing steady as she eyed Taori from afar.

Admittedly, that burst of attacking and blocking had winded Taori a bit, and he'd need a moment or two before he was actually capable of continuing that sort of barrage. On the plus side, Amara was quite worse for the wear herself, having only managed to erect a paper thin shield to block his strike, which didn't appear to quite be capable of protecting her from the attack all too well. She was sent skidding back across the floor, eventually thudding to a stop against the steps leading up to the throne she'd stepped down from at the start of this battle.
At this point, it did seem like things were coming to a close. Amara just couldn't keep up with the power Taori was able to exert over his ki control in his current form. Were they to transform, he'd likely lose that edge, as he'd always struggled to efficiently harness his power quite as well when drawing on the strength of his Oozaru. Amara, though, didn't seem to want to transform, which was likely intentional on her part. This must have been what she meant by giving herself a handicap that wouldn't seem very obvious to any onlookers. She was clever, wasn't she? It was almost a shame she hadn't taken to the role of Queen so well - if she'd enjoyed it, she likely would have made a very fine ruler.
For the current moment, though, neither fighter seemed to have much in the way of juice, so Taori simply crossed his arms and stood tall. "Come now, Amara,"he taunted, "Surely you can hit me harder than that."
"Shamelessly stealing my line AND doing it while you know you've no immediate energy to spend? Ha." If she was to go down in a blaze of glory, now was the best time. On the precipice of no return when Taori was at his strongest. "If you're so confident, Taori, I invite you to take the lead!" While outwardly, she'd return the brazen taunts with confidence, a blast of telepathy would radiate in the Saiyan's head. "It's just about over. Think our battle so far has been real enough for the rest of them?" Not like either side was pulling their punches - or kicks - short of holding back from lethal attacks.
"Make it flashy. Do that aura thing again, put everything you've got behind your next attack - rise to the bait. We'll exchange a last pair of heavy blows, and from that, I'll concede." Hopefully, he'd play along with her idea. Dragging this bout on for ages would only get irritating since the outcome had been determined. Taori was blunt and straightforward with a good heart. His more classical Saiyan appearance and enjoyment of battle would surely mean his popularity would surpass hers rather easily, even with his publicly known non-hated for the Tuffles.

TAORI'S PL: 85,000 | ALPINIA'S PL: 2,000
ACTIVE TRANSFORMATIONS: None
"Well, it worked when you did it," Taori replied in a lighthearted tone as Amara accused him of stealing her lines in spite of him not having the energy to back up his claims. She then invited him to take the lead, which is what he figured he'd already essentially been doing throughout their entire battle here, but he wouldn't argue with continuing to be the aggressor. Playing heavy defense wasn't something he was overly fond of doing, anyway. Amara, on the other hand, seemed like she could probably dodge around all day, although that probably wouldn't be getting her anywhere in a relatively close one on one fight like this one.
Suddenly, Amara's voice rang directly in Taori's head, and though it briefly startled him, as it had been a while since his head had last been invaded by a telepath, though he adjusted to the sensation quickly. Had the battle looked real enough? It had certainly felt real enough to Taori. He was pulling his punches only so far as to not seriously injure Amara, which he supposed is what he'd be doing against most of his opponents under this set of circumstances. Amara hadn't seemed like she was holding back on any of her abilities either - while she could likely have simply dodged most of his attacks until the cows came home, that wouldn't have let either of them gain any ground.
She wanted him to finish this with one last blow, but... "Not yet," Taori mentally replied to her. If he was going to finish this with one last big attack, it needed to be a real showstopper. For the time being, Taori bided his energy and closed in on Amara without using much in the way of his ki, instead lobbing a few weaker, distracting ki blasts towards her face, followed up by a tackle maneuver that was fairly straightforward, but would toss her up into the shattered throne if it hit.
"I'm far too smart to fall for a blatantly copied ruse," Amara replied dryly. Unfortunately for her master plan, Taori opted to hold onto his energy. Presumably, for an even bigger bomb that would be exceedingly overkill against an Amara that didn't even plan to block it. A mote of worry crept in, the Queen easing off her intended plan just in case she needed to not get accidentally killed in what was supposed to be a mock battle to begin with. "Uh. Alright then, gather your strength. Try not to take TOO long, though." She'd prefer a quick defeat rather than a horribly drawn-out one.
With nothing better to do, they engaged in spectacle fighting. Amara swat away the low-powered blasts with a reformed holoblade, 'attempting' to dodge the shoulder tackle only to go flying into the already broken throne with a hearty plume of dust. She pulled herself free a second later, blitzing forward with what seemed to beg a leg sweep - only to transition into a rolling stand and lashing out with her sword at Taori's arm. The holoblade had a lucky feature ever since it was invented in heaven: a non-lethal mode where hits would seemingly 'pass' through enemies, damaging their stamina and energy directly but leaving their bodies intact.
