Mint, of course, has plenty of experience having to perform some of his own political maneuvering, and though Derry had some of his own, he'd be foolish not to hear the arcosian out on his suggestions. For dealing with the insurgents, he suggests passing certain laws that could appease them while still maintaining some form of control over the super powered individuals from vigilante work. "Yes... Apparently the deal needs to be sweetened for them to take the bait I laid out," he mutters, "Perhaps I'll need to add a few more... privilege's to the Earth Defense Force, give it a bit more appeal."
As for Mint's suggestion related to his Dirty Snakes business, unfortunately Derry is far more limited in that sort of department. In terms of potential fall guys for the organization, well, the president's pool is rather empty. So few elites remain in the organization as is, whether they officially left or have disappeared. Those that would've been perfect for being the shadow such as Yangcong are long dead, and anybody else that Derry didn't care for that much have already fled the scene. "That's going to be a bit harder to pull off," Derry mentions, "My choices are far more limited in that department. I'll need to find a candidate to be my fall guy, but who is the real question."
"Yes, those with power will want privileges. They will want to feel powerful. I had an Arcosian Pirate, Verst. I couldn't just kill him he would be useful as an example. So I allowed him to raid the weak planets as long as he was working for Arcose Interest. Such bold actions would not exactly be suited for Earth but things of that nature, will." As for other businesses, he couldn't solve those the same way, he could not be as public like Mint was. Derry reputation was built on him being heroic, and his actions in the background might be vile. Not that knew fully but still. But it was interesting he needed to find a fall guy. "You find someone in your organization who is loyal of course. You make them the fall for your operations." Mint raised an arm.
"If you give up this, your fall guy here could just run rampant. If you betrayed by the underworld, well you got the forces up top to destroy them." Mint raised a finger. "I do not know who you have working for you but surely one of them can be dealt with in a matter that even if they wish to spill your secret they are seen as unreliable. Insane. They can be what you need. Someone that is loyal enough to lead but not so useful can be disposed of with quick notice." It was tough to find such a person but maybe Derry had someone in mind.
Mint starts to go on a little story about some other arcosian by the name of Verst. Apparently he's a pirate of some kind that the emperor's picked out as someone who receives his own few special privilege's so long as he remains loyal to the empire and performs tasks that benefit Arcose's interest. Unfortunately for Derry, pirates tend to moreso act as extra competition to him, and most of them tend to interrupt the Snakes' business dealings. As for the whole fall guy situation, Mint gives his own suggestions for who and what to look for in a fall guy on top of how to utilize one to their extent.
The main issue, unfortunately, still lies that Derry will need to find someone who can do just that. Few can even fit one criteria, let alone having to fill in multiple requirements, and he's not even sure if there's the possibility to achieving multiple. There is, however, one potential candidate that he could use, but it's most definitely a bit of a risky one to utilize. If he can convince her to get a bit more involved with the deeper political web and become more ingrained in the defense force, perhaps Jackie could suffice...
"I... I might have one in mind, but it's going to take some time, time I'm not entirely sure if I can spare," Derry replies, "I'll have to be quick with my next moves, if I'm going to be perfectly honest."
"Well, I'm sure you'll figure out what you need to do. As long as you're able to keep your power after all. Whatever plan you have in motion, it should make sure not to reduce your power. So be careful, you are in a position where you can gain big or lose everything. Make sure not to lose it all. Anyway,I can't help you with much more. I'm sure you'll put all the pieces together. I think we have exhausted our entire conversation. So it is time I depart back to Arcose. I need to make sure Arcose does not fall apart." Mint would nod to Derry and slowly get to his feet. "It has been good to meet with you, Derry." Mint was sure that Derry had some great plan. But it was not his business. But it was interesting to see Derry might be in a vulnerable position. He would need to keep it in mind. If Derry was not going to be president forever, then he would not exactly have use for him. But, he was confident Derry could figure it out. Plus, Derry and he were a part of the same flame. Both criminal, both thinkers. They didn't just use violence to get their answers. So he hoped Derry figured it out so they can contuine their partnership.
It looks as if the meeting between the two minds is coming to its end as Mint wishes Derry luck on his own endeavors and figuring out how he's going to untangle all of the knots in this mess that he's got. The president isn't aware of any sort of troubles over on Arcose aside from ones that have been already brought to his attention, but it seems as if Mint still needs to maintain order on the planet. "Of course, I won't keep you long from your own duties. Those above most certainly know that I still have much work to do for the foreseeable future," he replies before shifting through more papers.
As Mint makes his way out of the room, someone else, someone far smaller and less noticeable than Mint walks in: Maggie. The little girl waddles in, only to begin rushing over to Derry the moment she spots him, squealing in joy as she made her way over to him. The president gave her a little smirk before putting the papers aside and turning his chair over to the side just before his daughter could crash into him. He lifts her off of the ground and places her right on his lap, all before his hand starts to dig into another one of the drawers of his desk as he mutters to himself, "Alright, now where did I put that toy knife?"
