Mint had come to do the last part of his trip on Earth. To meet with the president on Earth. Mint had meet Derry a few months ago when he first came to Earth. But he had not been Emperor of Arcose. Their last meeting on Arcose didn't go too well, none of the other leader showed up and it ended up being a dreadful affair. Now they would hopefully be able to have a proper meeting. He would not mind going back to the Triumvirate and suggesting a full alliance with Earth. Of course, earth was far different then Arcose. It people had far different goals and desires that would conflict with potential actions of Arcose. Then agian, that be a problem for all the major worlds. Arcose was an empire that had to expand, that had to remain powerful. Mint was not a lover of war, but he also was not something agiasnt it.
So, if one was to consider a war engagement in the future, then you wanted a planet on your side. Even it was a planet that take a neutral stance to the battle. While this was not something he perhaps breech with Derry now, he like to lay the ground work. A good and fruitful relationship between Derry and himself. So they could make sure each of their interests were not conflicting. Mint would be confident that Derry would at least some of what he had to see his way. However, he'd have to wait for the meeting for that. Mint awaited outside Derry office to be let in, he may be an emperor but he was visiting Derry homeworld. Respect was important between two leaders.
Thread PL: 90,000 | Items: ScouterBack inside of the King's Castle, Derry is now currently in the middle of a call between a few of his personal disgruntled employees back at the Dirty Snakes HQ. A few of the boys recently botched a job there, and yet they were still asking for full payment for the operation. Unfortunately for them, Derry doesn't quite run that easy. Either the job goes off without a hitch and full payment is rewarded, or penalties are taken out. There is no such middle ground. Considering how much he needs to keep his wealth in check, the president has become harsher and harsher on this sentiment recently.
That's when his call is suddenly interrupted by the door to his office slowly opening up as a secretary peaks her head through a crack, the worker mentioning that a guest has arrived and wishes to speak to Derry. Despite telling her that he's rather busy, she urges him to speak to the guest. Apparently Mint was coming to visit, which immediately got the president to shut down his personal call. He ordered the secretary to bring him into his office to see what he has to say.
If he were to be completely honest with himself, he's starting to get a bit tired of arcosian emperors barging their way onto Earth unannounced. First it was Azoth with the construction of that giant spaceport in the city, then Brumal who came in to interrupt his speech, and now Mint. At the very least he was more than familiar with just who Mint was and what he was capable of, and he speaks the crook's language. However, he couldn't imagine why Mint would come to speak to Derry now at this moment. He had already spoken to Brumal before, so what more could the triumvirate speak to him about? Is Ise going to show up next? Questions for later. For now, he sits patiently inside of his office, waiting for the arcosian to be brought in so that he can see what exactly he's up to.
He did come somewhat unannounced, so he didn't mind the wait after all. But eventually, someone would motion for him to come into the office. Mint would bow his head to Derry. "I apologize, I just decided last minute to make a tour around Earth. Arcose can be quite boring this time of year. And because I was on Earth, it of been awful to not come and talk to you." He would glance back at the person that let him in. After a few moments, he motioned to them to leave as he went to sit down. "In fact, I toured around Earth and saw there seems to be a lot of trouble. I assume people decided to make an enemy out of Earth. Well, you and I see eye to eye in a lot of regards. So perhaps, you would tell me who some of these people might be who have been bothering Earth. So Arcose can make sure they are enemies and not friends. Earth and Arcose have had a good relationship for some time and I want to keep strengthing that relationship. Especially with some concerns I've heard from plants of all places."
He was sure that Derry would be more than fine with at least warning him about some of these troublemakers. For some of them, he could have them crushed and others could be reformed to serve the empire's interests and stop harassing Earth.
The door to Derry's office slowly opens up, and the all too familiar fave of Mint appears on the other side, apologizing for dropping in unannounced. "Not a bad idea in the slightest, I suppose," he remarks as he takes one of the cigars from his personal box and puts the tip between his lips, "but given how I had the pleasure of meeting Brumal earlier I figured it would be a bit of time before I would see you again. Of course, as a world leader yourself, you are welcome here in the castle." He raises his hand right up to the other end of his cigar before snapping his fingers, creating a pink spark that lights the stick up. He takes a quick puff before asking, "So what would you like to discuss?"
Mint would go on to elaborate on the fact that Earth has been seeing plenty of antagonism from plenty of unsavory individuals for quite some time now, and he was curious about who these people are in order to learn more about them and help repel such individuals in the future. If both Earth and Arcose were to be in an alliance with each other, it would be best to keep them updated with who was stirring up trouble on Earth and who might be stirring up trouble on Arcose potentially. "Well I certainly have gathered up quite a list of names. Plenty of people have already been banished from this planet, never to set foot unless they don't value their lives. I can at least tell you about one of the more recent criminals, at least. I mentioned him to one of your associates, Brumal, when he visited, but do you know of a heran by the name of Fukushu?" There's a decent chance that Brumal might've passed the word onto Mint already about this guy, and it would save him the trouble of rambling about someone the arcosian might already be fully aware of.
“Oh I see Brumal came here. I was not aware of that happening.” Mint would glance at Derry. “We are not always talking to eachother all at the same time. Each of our will do our own thing. Only come together when they are things of great importance to get done.” If he had known Brumal had come here maybe he’d of not come to meet with President Derry. For all he knew he was going to tread over the same ground that Brumal might of already gone over.
As for his idea, Derry seemed to like the idea. But he did say that most of these people were already banished from the planet. There was one person that had just been banished that Earth had trouble with. He was known as Fukushu. Mint narrowed his good eye every so slightly. “I have heard a bit about him. But I was not aware he had attacked Earth. I had heard he was on Plant. One of my men had meet him on plant and he did seem to be quite the troublesome person. So he had attacked Earth? For what purpose.” Mint was worried now. If Brumal was working with this guy and he had attacked Earth, Maybe Brumal wanted to crush Earth? Or maybe he didn’t know what Fukushu had done? Either way he knew he needed to get as much information from Derry. It would help him piece together what Fukshu and Brumal’s plan might be.
Surprisingly enough, it seems like the emperors aren't always completely communicating with each other all of the time, something that Derry had presumed that they would've been doing this whole time. Did Brumal really just show up on Earth randomly in order to just pop in and say hello without the other two noticing? "Figured you would've been in touch a bit more considering the division of power over there on Arcose, but I can't really say much about your system," Derry replies as he raises his shoulders in a little shrug, leaning back into his chair. He likely shouldn't pry too much into how their politics work over on Arcose since that seems like a whole can of worms that the president knows that he probably doesn't want to get into, at least not today.
Unfortunately, it seems like Mint has no idea who Fukushu is, but at least Brumal is aware of that heran. "Brumal can likely share a few more details about the man since he was there during a service I was holding at the city, but I can tell you a bit more about him. Seems like a kind of hotshot guy, looking to prove just how strong and wicked he is. From what I know, he was trying to blow up East City because he wanted to prove that he was... I don't know, evil? It doesn't make sense to me. I mean, I wouldn't call myself a hero in private, and from what I know 'bout you, neither would you, but this guy? He's nuts, let me tell you." He takes a quick drag of his cigar and taps any ashes on the end into a nearby ashtray before asking, "Any other questions you have in regards to Fukushu? I got another guy you'd need to keep an eye out."
"Well we should, but they went off to Konats for a while. So I was running Arcose. Then I headed off Arcose. So we just not had a lot of time to talk in the past few months I must admit." He was correct that he should be talking to them more. But at the same time, they didn't need to talk to each other about everything. Though in this situation it might have saved them both a good amount of time. Nothing he could do about it now, but it was something he remembered. As soon as possible he'd have to give Brumal a call or talk to him.
But, he'd have to worry about that all at a different time. Right now he needed to keep on the low what he was talking to Derry about. Derry noted that Brumal was aware of Fuksuhu as he had been on Earth during a service Derry held. Fukushu was strong and wicked. He was trying to blow up East City and rip it apart. It was a pretty good basis and fell in line with what Ticoga had said to him. "I had heard of him and I heard some troubling news in relation to him. So, I want to do what I can right away to protect myself and my allies from risk. One of the men of my empire alerted me to the fact that Fukushu is currently masquerading as working under Brumal's command. Whether he actually working for him, is unknown. I am currently having my men look into it. You said Brumal came here, did he have some interaction or questioning about Fukushu while he was here? I wanna confirm that he was not so foolish as to trust such a crazy man."
It seems like the Triumverate were a bit busy constantly bussing around on each of the planets doing whatever it was that they were looking to do. The mention of Konats, however, does remind Derry of the fact that he's made very few moves towards communication with Konats. Namek made some sense given how undeveloped they were over there and the president believed that there would be little value in keeping touch with them. Konats on the other hand, while still recovering, is a bit more advanced in comparison. "Perhaps I'll need to pay a visit to Konats myself at some point," Derry mutters under his breath, rubbing his chin in the meantime.
Aside from that, it truly seems like Mint was rather concerned about this potential connection between Brumal and Fukushu, the arcosian asking Derry about whether he asked any sort of questions regarding the heran. Derry merely shrugs at the question and replies, "I've been keeping as much information regarding that man as tight to my chest as possible. The last thing we need is for his name to spread like wildfire. Might be some inspiration to some crazy bastards looking to cause trouble. I had to reveal a little bit at my speech, and whatever it was that I mentioned there was the information that Brumal received about the man. Nothing more, nothing less. Really, it was mostly just centered around what Fukushu did, so I hope that it has acted as a deterrent rather than a potential idea."
The president leans back into his chair and takes a quick draw from his cigar before moving on to the next subject, mentioning beforehand, "Really, that's all I can really say about that man, but there are others Arcose should have some concern about. Ever heard of a man by the name of Erebos? Kicked him off planet almost a year ago, and I haven't heard of him since then. Some demonic swordsman. Annoying, to boot as well. I would hope that he hasn't caused many problems for Arcose now, would he? Erebos seems to be the kind of man to despise authority, after all." He doubts that Erebos would be unknown to Mint if he were proactive on Arcose, so perhaps there might be a chance that the arcosian doesn't even know who Derry's talking about.
Mint nodded as Derry explained he had keep the Fukushu affair close to his chest. He mentioned it slightly in his speech but he did not give a lot of details. So he was hopefully that the whole situation didn’t inspire people to go seeking him out. “I see..Brumal is not the type to take chances. I image if he spoke with you then whatever plan he has with Fukushu does not involve Earth. But if some reason it came down to the that then I assure you that I’d be in Earth’s corner. Frankly, if and its a big if, Brumal was using Fukushu in some way to take action behind my back? Without voicing to the other emperors an attempt to destablize Plant? That would not be good at all. And i’d have little choice but to ask for Brumal to step aside. But I’ll send you a message once I speak to Brumal. So i’d not worry about it too much. I just wanted to ask you, afterall we trust eachother. At least to the extent that we know that you and I won’t attack eachother. We have a lot of common ground.”
That was enough about Brumal for now. He didn’t have enough information to outright say that Brumal was doing some sneaky stuff. But he wanted Derry to at least know if Brumal did something shady on Earth he would protect Earth. To fight one of his own to protect Earth was hopefully another sign that Mint valued the planet alliance. Derry mentioned a swordsman named Erebos. Apparently he had caused trouble on Earth almost a year ago and he had forced him off world. He asked if he knew anything about him. “Can’t say I’ve heard of him. But I image other in the empire have. Perhaps something i’ll ask about. I’ll also make sure to not allow him to snoop around Arcose Space if he has caused you so much trouble. Lets see who else might be troublesome.” Mint tapped his chin. “Arcose space is thin on trouble makers. Now that Blizzard is dead of course. We realy been in a lul of peace for a while.”
Of course Mint comes to Brumal's defense regarding his relationship to Fukushu, though Derry is still rather wary of any sort of potential plans that the emperor possesses that even Mint may not be aware of. Again, the emperors are somewhat independent, and it wouldn't be a farfetched idea that they might have some conflicting goals with each other at one point or another. Despite that, Mint isn't some dumbass who stumbled his way into becoming one of the most powerful men in the galaxy. He knows that something is off about this whole thing, and promises to speak to Brumal about this and alert Derry as to what their relationship is, even going so far as to assure the president that he would side with Earth over Brumal if their relationship is truly as sinister as it could be. "Thank you," he replies, with nothing more to add.
The topic soon shifts over to Erebos, the one that Derry despises the most, the demon that had beaten him twice, the one that left him scarred and forced to take medication for his injuries. At least he can get off of the stuff in less than a month. Unfortunately it seems like Mint is in the dark in regards to Erebos, having no clue on who this guy is. It appears as if he isn't making trouble on Arcose, or else he'd be well known across the empire. That at least limits the possibilities on where that demon is hiding. "Well it crosses Arcose off the list of possible planets he's decided to hide himself on. Perhaps he's picked somewhere a bit more remote, like Namek or Konats. I'm sure Queen Amara would've told me if Erebos was on Plant by now. We have quite the relationship, she and I, and we're both more than familiar with the bastard."
It was fortunate to hear that Arcose hasn't had much trouble with any massive threats, with Blizzard being the only standout, and he's already been taken care of. "Unfortunately, it seems as if trouble can't stay too far away from Earth. It seems like every month or so we're getting assaulted by some powerful force or unorganized criminals are running amok in the streets. It's getting quite chaotic. Peace seems to be practically unachievable recently..."
Mint nodded as Derry noted that Erebos must of been hiding on Konats or Namek. He knew of the Queen of the Saiyan's Amara. So he was sure she'd tell him as such. "Was she not the one who came to Arcose with you that one time?" Mint mused. "You made some good connections than someone you can trust leading the Saiyan people. Namek and Konats remain the only unknowns for you. Same for me to be honest. I am not much aware of what goes on those planets. Not to say their backwater but it seems they had less in when it comes to powerful residents. Or at least residents who are ambitious to explore the cosmo's. Something both our parties should keep eyes on especially if this Erebos is lurking on one of them."
Mint nodded as Derry noted that Earth's peace seemed hard to come back. It seemed almost every month someone came to attack. "I think it is just Earth reputation. The average Earthing is not all that powerful. I believe that makes people assume your planets defense are weak when that is not the case. The only way you can stop that is by putting fear in the hearts of those who wish to cause chaos. They must know that challenging Earth will result in a terrible fate. They will not escape with their heads, they will leave without them." Mint mused. "You give one chance to fools and they go running around. Take Fukushu. If you killed him then his potential threat in the future is erased. Of course I was not there I image killing him or wounding him to the point he could be captured would no doubt of been very hard to accomplish."
Mint takes note of the relationship Derry possesses with the Queen of the Saiyans, and it was certainly a very useful one to have, that much is certain. If there was some information he needs to pry about in regards to Plant, then she'd be his very first resource. "Being close associates with another planetary leader is always quite beneficial to future relations. Hell, I even aided Cheri back when the war between the saiyans and tuffles was still ongoing, and that was before either of us were president and chancellor. Though to be perfectly honest it has been quite some time since interacted with her, so it's fallen out a bit. Oh well, at least I still have access to Amara."
Derry leans forward in his chair and rests his arms on the desk in front of him, grabbing hold of a lighter and playing around with it while he continues, "Oh, but don't kid yourself too much. Namek is by far the furthest behind in terms of technology and presence in this sort of galactic conglomerate. Konats and Plant can surely be excused given their circumstances and where they stood at before the war and sandstorm kicked in, but Namek? It always has been a bit... sparse. If given enough time, Konats would surely do something about that demon, but the green ball? He could be hiding there for centuries for all I know."
Sure, most of his bias against Namek mostly comes down to the fact that of all of the planets that possess any sort of major leadership and life signs, it's the one that provides the least usefulness to anybody outside of the planet, which is why he's done so little to reach out to that place. Regarding Mint's suggestion for putting fear into the hearts of those that would stand against Earth, now that was something Derry could work on. "Executing Fukushu right then and there would've ended his little run, but the city was already damaged quite significantly by the time I booted him off of Earth. He's not the kind of man to just sit there and wait for the axe to swing, I can assure you. That idea you had, though... fear... that's not a bad idea at all." Derry smirks to himself, already thinking of what he could possibly do to make Earth stand out as a threat to those that would dare come to destroy them.
“Yes having a good relationship is smart thing. Especially knowing both the leaders of plant. Issues come if war starts again between the two. But i’m sure you be prepared for that and try your best to meditate or take side with the one that provides the best security to Earth.” Mint tapped his chin. He was sure Derry had already thought of all of that. He was the President for a reason. He had to all these situations ready in his head just in case something forced him to act. Derry seemed quite dismissive of Namek how it was technically inept at least compared to Konats. It may one day rise to be a big player. But Namek? It was an isolated world that seemed to not have much desire to grow and change. So if Erebos was lurking there he’d stay hidden for a long time. “Well noted. I’ll keep that in mind. Still, if he goes lurking around in Arcose space I’ll be sure to give you a call.”
As for his suggestion Derry seemed to take that well. Though it seemed he was not in the position to take Fukushu down at the moment. He was hurt and the city was damaged but he was not so hurt that he’d stand there and take his death. “Yes, Fear can be a good motivater in dostage and it different from place to place. I’ve made a few tours around Earth. I wanted to do that before I came and meet you. I can see that unlike Arcose a heavy hand of control and fear will not be a good idea. People like Jackie for example would oppose that. So your fear has to be disguised with necessity. Those who need to fear you are those who those attacking your planet. Say for example, you provide the execution of those who harm earth but lessen that tracking policy of yours. Allow some more freedom for those who keep your world safe but provide no black and white when it comes to harming the people of the planet. Just a suggestion to make clear your policy done as a measure expanding Earth’s protection while making concessions. You disguising your policy action with benvolence.”
Derry still wasn't entirely sure if the empire has made any sort of advances in establishing relations with either faction on Plant, but given how Mint doesn't seem to elaborate on their own relations with the planet, it's likely 'in development.' Regardless, the arcosian promises to keep a close eye out for Erebos in case he tries to cause any trouble around his territory, though once more the president doesn't anticipate hearing any news from Mint in regards to the demon. Perhaps once Derry accumulates enough resources he'll send some good men and women out over to Namek to investigate and take care of Erebos if he does lurk there.
Mint was getting the bigger picture when it came to Derry's accords, as he had anticipated. The empire runs a rather tight ship over on their planets, and are quite a bit more involved in the day to day lives of the people. Of course such a system will clearly not go well with the people of Earth as many here tend to be on the rebellious side. Hell, even with the accords Derry has established, he's already getting tons of reports of vigilantes and insurgents in the major metropolitan areas. Perhaps he'll need to add some more funding to Earth's domestic defense if they're going to prove to be a bigger problem than the president had anticipated, especially if the rumors that some of them are digging for information turn out to be correct.
"A very astute observation, Mint," Derry remarks, "at least I can feel reassured knowing that some people have common sense. It's the sort of path I'm moving forward with for future laws and accords. Now Earth may have some problems with these vigilantes and renegades causing all kinds of trouble by butting in when they shouldn't be. Moving forward with these policies, Mint, should either appease them or, should they still be troublemakers, will only further stain their own reputations."
Derry stands up from his chair before moving behind it and planting his hands on top of the back before continuing, "It's also quite inconvenient to my business, having them roam around interrupting opportunities. As morbid as it may seem, these tragedies give me many excuses to pass legislation to counteract further interruptions to my own operations while tainting these vigilantes who think they can stand above the law. For now I stand back and wait for when that happens, and given how often our cities have been attacked, it's only a matter of time before the next destroyer reveals themselves. This time, however, they'll be set as an example." A small smirk creeps up on Derry's face as he mutters that last line, already imagining how it will all go down in his mind.
Mint nodded as Derry spoke about the accords. He seemed to agree with what he had to say. Plus, Earth had a lot of people not following the laws already. And that was not good. So he had to do something to either wrestle control back or appease them. The former was hard since he was one man. Unless he had a massive army backing him to force everoyne into submission..it was unlikely to be effective. But, at at the same time, Derry had his own business beyond the Presidency. Having these people move around so freely could threaten his business. The more tragedy that happened on this planet, then the more he could enact laws to his benfit. To keep the dangerous people who could damage his business interests out of the fold. Either way he planned not to really raise his hand until the next criminal rises up then he takes them down.
“I’ve learned..in my line of work. That you should act before something becomes a problem. You have two concern’s, people of power not following your laws and your business interests being under threat. The former can be solved by getting them on your side. Laws that can be done to keep them happy but understanding is important. Letting some not have their power tracked, only criminal’s or those wish to use their power to protect Earth. As an example of course. You are not so powerful, that you cannot appease those who disagree with your laws. And your businesses? Well one way or another they will be found eventually. So what you need is someone to take the fall. A number 2. A shadow if you will. I’ve done that myself afterall. Being leader of the world and a business is hard work.”
