A figure flies low over the treetops of the vibrant forests, moving fast to avoid setting off any Tuffle security scanners. It had been... seven years, perhaps longer, since the last time the Saiyan, Lottus, had travelled to this place. The last time, he had done so without rousing the attention of his people's enemy. But he'd not cared then, either.
He continues to fly until, at last, he'd come across his intended target - a verdant valley thriving with life. There are no settlements here, only the vastness of nature secluded between the mountain ranges. Lottus looks somberly from the summit of a high mountain and down into the valley, saying nothing. His brows furrow, and the Saiyan begins his descent into the valley.
He flies low across a massive lake, close enough to see the features of his face within the reflection of the bright pink waters. He tilts slightly as he flies, letting his fingers cut a path through the surface of the lake at his passing, until he reaches the far end of the lake. He slows to a halt, and lands on the grassy terrain. Time had not touched this place since last he came here, back when he'd been... better.
Lottus looks back out across the lake as a brisk breeze knifes through his long hair, causing the timber to creak and bright leaves to flutter upon their perches along the branches of the trees. The Saiyan turns his back to the lake and walks deeper into the valley wood, passing quietly amongst the trees and flora. After twenty minutes of walking, Lottus comes upon a thin tree that stands in the shadows of its peers, sunlight denied to it by the mightier wood surrounding it on all sides.
He gazes at the tree for a moment, and then casts his gaze down to the base of the tree where the roots that are visible above the ground and form a small pocket between the soft dirt and the roots curling over it. Lottus kneels down, and reaches into the pocket, and retrieves an object covered by a cloth. He gazes at the cloth for a moment, and then unfolds the corners.
Resting at the center of the now unfolded cloth is what appears to be a sort of necklace. The gemstone remains a vibrant blue akin to the deepness of a cerulean star. It shines with an internal light, though dimmed with time. The necklace itself has rusted to the point of being stiff and brittle. His mere handling of it had snapped the thin chain in several places.
Lottus' brows furrow as he frowns.
"...It's... gotten worse... Rapini." Lottus mutters, lowering himself from kneeling to sitting in the dirt. "It hurts... It still hurts... every time now... It's getting harder to stop. Harder to calm down. I thought getting away from things would help. It didn't..."
Lottus gazes at the gemstone, almost able to see his own reflection.
"I've... met people that don't... they don't understand. But, they aren't... I can't..." Lottus stammers, having difficulty putting his thoughts to words. "They don't understand... they don't understand... they can't understand..."
A light rain begins to pass through the valley, though the thickness of the treetops blocks much of the initial fall.
"You don't know, I think, but the war ended. We won." Lottus continues, his rasping voice low. "...But I don't think it will be long before it starts again. At least, that's what my gut tells me."
Lottus' memory flashes, and recalls the machine that had taken Rapini's life. He bares his teeth, growling.
"I should kill them... I should kill them for you, Rapini... Each and every one of them that knows how to make that DAMNED Destron..!" Lottus snarls, gripping the gemstone in his pressed together fists. "You didn't deserve that..! My brothers... My sister... what they turned my father into... what he did to my mother... what they did to you..! I should kill them..! I should kill them! I SHOULD KILL THEM!! THEY SHOULD ALL PAY!!"
A terrible pain sears through Lottus' head, and he groans in the pain leaning forward to press his forehead into the soft dirt.
