Jaggy? How old did Zuqetta think she was? They were strangers and she was already messing with her name. The young woman gave a half scowl from under the mass of hair that whipped about as they flew, eyes following the rolling Zuqetta as she lazily flew about just in front of the young fighter and ended up on her back like she was lying on a bed some place, hands behind her head easily keeping pace. At least up here there was nothing to fly into.
“No bad memories, well not really…just they’re always trying to put you down, even worse for the ones labelled Low Class…worst duties, harshest instructors, most hazardous assignments. We had a rough time of it growing up and as soon as they could we were pushed out to the front lines to fight against the Tuffles. You must know how that was, surprised that someone like you wasn’t leading a squad of your own through the war?”
Someone who had managed to amass so much power and only be a few years older than Jagaimo would have surely been selected as an Elite from birth and would have risen through the Academy ranks very quickly indeed. But sifting through her memories the young Saiyan warrior couldn't recall any stories or mentions of this other woman's name. It wasn’t impossible that she’d avoided notice but unlikely, and while Jagaimo didn’t know or remember the names of everyone she had ever met she would have remembered hearing about a girl like Zuqetta coming up through the classes. While she couldn’t sense the other ladies' power anymore that's to the Mana Veil she had thrown back up around herself, she was still able to study what she could see. And it was a strange contrast. The girl was confident, obviously strong but the way she behaved seemed at odds with that…maybe she was just a carefree act first think later kind of Saiyan…but from Jagaimo’s experience always acting first without thinking or assessing what was going on was often a way to wind up in the infirmary. But maybe all that strength had made Zuqetta overconfident…maybe it was just how the woman was all the time.
Jagaimo listened as they flew, surprised with the knowledge that her two new companions were not long acquainted with each other. The way they acted around each other she’d assumed months if not years of friendship already. The young fighter had never really behaved that way with any of her fellow soldiers, even the ones that had survived long enough together to be called proper squad mates rather than just rookies. Sure they joked around but they never really got personal…she was about to ask why when Zuqetta cut that line of questioning off at the knees, a vague response to what was likely a very interesting story. But Jagaimo had had enough conversations that ended that way to know that it wasn’t worth trying to follow up. The way it was said made it final, time to move on. After being shut down she watched as her flying companion increased her speed, and focused a little more to keep up…she hadn’t yet had to call on more power than she had shown to Lilith and Zuqetta, the other woman keeping the speed within her limits…just. If she went much faster Jagaimo would have to give away that she was keeping a little more power hidden away than she was letting on, something she didn’t really want to do just yet. As she was debating it, it seemed the decision was taken out of her hands by a call from Zuqetta’s crew, the meal they’d been promised was apparently ready and waiting for them at the ship's landing site.
“Why would I freak out over a…ship…”
Her words were cut off mid sentence as the vast vessel came into view, hovering on the horizon, its bulk casting the land under it in shadow despite the height of its position above the ground. There was no way the ship could have possibly landed without destroying the surrounding landscape, its weight would have likely driven it right down into the earth..Jagaimo had seen star ships in the port on Arcose when she visited and had considered these to be massive, but even those paled in comparison to what she was witnessing…even the Arcosian Brumal, didn’t have a vessel this massive and his power was insane.
“That thing is yours?”
Jagaimo let out a long slow whistle, having to move her head to take the whole thing in as they got closer, head shaking, deciding to focus on things she could actually comprehend rather than something so far in the distance it shouldn’t still look so big. She followed Zuqetta down to where the ‘landing’ site was being set up, quite clearly just a camp rather than an actual site to drop the ship down. Still it was impressive the way everyone moved around with a purpose. There were a few ships she spotted, no doubt the transports for everything that had been set out for their arrival. What drew her eye away from the rotating dishes and flashing screens was the food…the sheer volume of food piled onto the tables in the centre of the camp. It wasn’t as flashy as Zuqetta had originally promised but still…with the appetite Jagaimo had worked up so far today…it looked like it was going to be plenty indeed.
The young fighter smiled when she saw Lilith leave a nearby structure and move over to join them, chuckling at the way she teased Zuqetta for mourning her absence. As her host dived in with barely suppressed glee, Jagaimo watched the other woman question their ‘Captain’. She assumed that Lilith must be talking about the craft high above them. She didn’t know much about space flight as the pod did most of it for her but even she could understand that maintaining a craft that big, stationary in the air must have been a gigantic drain on fuel reserves. Was Zuqetta really showing off just because she had a guest?
Jagaimo smiled again when Lilith gestured to the food, bowing her head in thanks before she started to pile one of the plates high, curiously sampling the strange looking foods which apparently weren't just Saiba meats, trying the fruits and berries…practically inhaling the food in front of her, following her hosts example of forgetting that air was needed. There was almost nothing as good as a hearty meal and nothing should get in the way of that. Jagaimo waved something that looked like meat on a bone at Lilith before taking a big bite from it,
“Much appreciated, it is a marvellous meal…Did you prepare all this just for us? You would make a fortune opening a cantina in the District, that's for sure. How did you end up traveling with this one?”
