Despite his past few days being spent wandering about in a haze of harrowing self-hatred and loathing, the arrival of one familiar ginger haired bounty hunter and a dropping of a paradigm shifting rumor or two, all the sudden a moment of clearness and clarity had claimed the mind of the originally direly destitute young man.
However, it was then swiftly replaced with a crazed need to confirm exactly what incredulous thoughts had now been introduced to him by the slighting of information that Zhalla had to impart on him to try and lighten up the air of despair that he had been struggling to shake for so, so long now.
Dion was originally sure that all those years ago on Plant, he and his brother Carro were brought together in light of the fact that he lacked any other caretaker (emphasis on the word care) for the younger, lesser developed, and thus largely more at risk little brother of his. And seeing as when he had taken the stray child off the streets there had been little to no fuss made over his disappearance, Dion continued to assume that his aforementioned presumption had been correct, and he had been more than willing to assume the role as sole keeper of the kid.
What he hadn't even taken into account back then was the possibility of there having been multiple Hofferson descendants. He was willing to cut himself some of the slack- he was an only child to begin with after all, and the prospect of siblings in the first place was a foreign one to say the least, so, he had little to no reason to ponder on the thought of there being more than one Carro-looking character out there in the world.
The thought of it, however, was finally broken wide upon by a small recollection of Zhalla's own doing at the tail end of their one on one interaction within the Berri Forest, and while Dion still had many a problem to work through on his own, the possibility of the potentiality of a new sibling to take care of now filling his remaining, and still functioning, faculties. If there was even one person who Carro was directly related to that happened to be a good person, especially that of the sibling variety, then he deserved more than anyone to know.
Plus, while he may never admit it aloud, nor did he perhaps even realize it himself, the thought of having a new sibling to add into the family, invigorated him in an odd way. If you would call fear an invigorating factor, anyways.
The notion that he had yet another person to add to the fairly few people that he had come to care about so deeply within the cosmos was a beautifully frightening one to say the least. Dion had already been face to face with the near eradication of everything he had worked for and everyone he had come to love once- what if such an instance came upon him yet again? Would he be able to handle the simultaneous responsibility and guilt that succeeding or failing would bring unto him again? He wasn't absolutely sure.
But what he was sure about was that the same notion also fueled simultaneously the want, no, the need to ensure that such a thing never happened ever again. With Amara's passing instilling within him the harsh consequences his continued shortcomings would bring to him, and Carro's successful retrieval giving Dion the second chance at life he needed to move forward through said shortcomings, the young man began to see his subsisting existence not as a curse from fate but as a blessing from up above.
An opportunity for hope.
Something that he hadn't felt in a long, long time.
Along with it, he also felt a growing anticipation- anticipation that worsened with each moment spent flying past the now rocky surroundings of the Saiba wastes around the two speeding Saiyans. Carro and Dion had chosen a remote area deep within the depths of Saiba territory for them to make their camp in order to avoid as much trouble as possible, but the downside was that such an out of the way locale combined with Carro's naturally lower power signature made it very difficult for Dion to track down his exact location at times.
Thankfully, as Dion's eyes laid on some familiar looking cave structures out in the distance, his anxiety lowered a great deal- with him motioning toward Zhalla behind him that they were nearly there.
It was a matter of seconds before the two had closed the distance between camp and themselves, and the eldest sibling of the lot wasted no time in running over toward the cave opening, waving his arms and yelling in a frantic yet all the more excited tone- one livelier than he had ever held in months as he spoke, "Carro, CARROOOOO- I think I may have found out something HUGE!"
It was the most alive he had felt in months, if he were to be honest.
And he dreaded the moment when reality would set in once again.
