Three Years. She'd been on this planet for that long now. It was amazing how time had flown after she saw what remained of her childhood group of friends for the last time. She wasn't even sure where the other two had gone. They had just sort of..split up after that first year. She knew one thing for sure, neither of them had ended up sticking around where Nizin herself had wound up. It amazed her just how big some of the deserts on earth were, and how well the people were able to make the best of a bad situation. Hell, she'd even picked up a whole new set of skills while she was living out in the desert. She wasn't as good as the mechanic that left her and her friends when they were still calling themselves pirates, but she was getting there.
Of course, she hadn't been working for free. Today had been payday. That meant a handful of bills needed dropped off in the city. Living out in one of the villages was nice for a sense of peace and quiet, but it definitely would be difficult making sure bills were paid on time if she couldn't fly. Could she have just used the internet to set up online payments? Sure. But she wasn't quite sure she could trust that. Call it paranoia, but she felt more in control when dropping things off herself. That was why she had made sure to get up early, that way she had been able to get in and out of the post office before they all went off on a lunch break. Now that she was done with that, she had the whole day to herself, really.
"Hmm..ok, that's the bills done, and I've still got some Zeni left..what to do now.." She mused as she walked down the street, hands shoved in the pockets of her jacket, watching out of the corners of her eyes as the occasional mother pulled their child closer when she walked by, or people went out of their way to cross the street. People being afraid of her was nothing new. She had spent the majority of her life schlepping around the galaxy with five other kids her age, causing all kinds of mischief and mayhem. This was a different kind of fear though. More subtle.
It was a little unnerving when she saw it, even if she didn't quite understand why some of the people here--on a planet she had never done anything bad on--would act like that. After the third random person did it, her gaze shifted upwards towards the signs on buildings. Let them act as they would. She wasn't here to bother anyone.
"Let's see...laser tag? No, the lights they use in there gave me a headache..a bar? It's noon, why's a bar open!?" She asked incredulously, earning a shrug from someone walking past. That was fine. West City was huge. If there wasn't anything to do on this street, she could always find something on a different one!
