There were a thousand reasons why one shouldn't venture this far within the corrupted heart of the city. Most of them, though, could be summed up with the simple words: destron gas. The noxious fumes were poisonous, corrosive, and extremely unpleasant. Destron just had a way of sinking into everything and refusing to let go.
Not coming here was one of the few things that people she had met from both major cultures on the planet agreed on. To venture into the depths was foolhardy. There were things down here, yes, but if you delved too deep you would not find them. You would find instead only death.
But as that was, in many ways, precisely what she was seeking, Gloriosa had decided to come down regardless.
She had been surprised to find that there were more signs that others had come than she would have expected.
All the way down the corridor she had chosen, there were marks. Roughly scratched into the wall along with a name. Saiyan, if she had absorbed enough of the local culture to guess correctly. It seemed as though local youths had taken to trying to descend as far as they could before fear, the gas, or some other menace drove them back. A test of bravado perhaps? It was intriguing at the very least.
Gloriosa was very obviously not one of them. Too tall to be a Tuffle, too slender to be a Saiyan, dressed in strange, flowing black and grey robes with her long, pointed ears and her impressive mohawk. The Konatsian could not be anything other than she was, though the 5'2 figure was hardly more imposing for that alien quality to her bearing.
What she was, for once, was utterly silent.
Her soft-soled shoes left little trace of her passage and her movements were careful, calculated, slow. Around her face she had wrapped a long black scarf; better than nothing to keep the destron out, she reasoned, though thus far the corruption of the area was little more than a faint, unpleasant odour.
She had heard much about this gas, its effects, and the horrors of this place. She did so hope that she wasn't going to leave disappointed. Thus far, she hadn't even seen a single body. Surely at lease some of these youths bit of more than they could chew, didn't they?
