CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE:
Gloriosa stands at 5’2, with dark black hair styled into an impressive mohawk. She has the long, pointed ears characteristic of her people, and has pierced them through three times each so that steel musical notes can dangle from her ears. Her nose is sharply pointed, her lips thin. Her eyes, though, are jet black, and can be somewhat disturbing to stare into for long periods of time – as though her soul has completely departed her body.
She is a slender woman in her thirties who carries herself with grace and poise. She does not look like much of a warrior; in fact she looks like she might just break apart if someone hit her too hard.
Her clothing is loose and flowing in the traditional Konatsian style, but where many of her people carry a blade or other weapon across her back, she carries a violin case of polished ebony wood. Her clothes are primarily black, with lighter grey accents.
BACKGROUND:
For as long as there have been musicians, there have been those who know that music is linked to magic. The emotions it stirs in the soul, the communication of concepts without words or even visuals, how could it be anything else?
Gloriosa studied music from an early age and her talent was undeniable. The Konatsian people value such skills highly, and she was free to explore her muse across a wide range of instruments. Eventually, she settled on the violin; an instrument of incredible beauty with which she could stir the hearts of all who heard it.
It was expected, in the naïve way that most tend to think, that this talent would be honed to bring peace and wonder to her people. But no. Gloriosa was approached by a Kashvar called Kol who showed her different songs she could play; songs which spoke to the suffering and pain of mortal souls.
All she needed was that first step.
She plumbed the depth of these new songs as surely as she had the others, and she found that there were far sweeter sounds to be heard in them. She learned to focus her energy and bring these scenes of death and destruction into reality.
Many on Konats attempted to bring her to justice, but her alliance with the Kashvar – who sought to keep honing that power of hers – meant that she was ever one step ahead of them. When the great storm struck the planet, she was as surprised as any, but even this was not enough to break her alliance with the power-hungry aliens.
The simple fact was that she wanted to perfect her craft, and she knew what to strive for; that she would one day sing the song that ends worlds; compose the aria that unmakes existence itself and bring about the end of all things.
Because it is only fitting that when the finest performance in existence is made, the curtain should be drawn, no?
However, with the storm becoming more and more… distracting… of late, Gloriosa has been forced to leave the planet. It was starting to drown out her songs. She hopes that she can, instead, find inspiration on other worlds. Perhaps Plant can be a useful muse?
COMBAT INFORMATION
TECHNIQUES:
Light Offensive Technique || Minor Chord
A simple chord in the song that is Gloriosa’s battle; this brings with it a swift strike from a ki construct.
Power: 20%
KP Cost: 1 KP
Variants: None
Light Defensive Technique || Quickstep
When fully engrossed in her performance, Gloriosa can switch places with some of her illusions; so long as the rhythm matches of course.
Power:60%
KP Cost: 2 KP
Variants: Evasive
Heavy Offensive Technique || Beautiful Crescendo
Gloriosa summons widespread and vivid illusions as well as her ki constructs to entrap the foe in a moment of true terror. The destructive force is intense, and as the name implies, she usually tries to use this to finish a fight.
Power:60%
KP Cost: 6 KP
Variants: Homing, Exhausting
Light Sparking Offensive Technique || The Sorrowsong
The current greatest expression of Gloriosa’s talent. The Sorrowsong is an expression of utter misery; a lamentation for existence itself which is coupled with some of the most vivid and destructive imagery she can provide. If the Sorrowsong finds purchase in an opponent’s heart, it can literally drain the power from their very soul.
Power: 50%
KP Cost: 2 KP
Variants: Fatigue
Utility Technique || Magical Music
Gloriosa can use her magic to craft vivid illusions so long as she keeps playing an instrument. Unlike most magic the things she creates are not real, but she can empower them with ki to make them gain solidity for brief moments (and this forms the basis of her attacks). Players are free to have their characters realise that the illusions are not real though they will still need to defend themselves as normal if attacks are used.
Utility Technique || Symphony of Destruction
Gloriosa is able to use her magic and ki to augment an ordinary instrument so that it seems to be an entire orchestra; allowing for incredible performances and even for her to parry blows with her instrument as though it were a true weapon.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: If you'd like a starter form renamed, or have anything else we need to know regarding your combat information, let us know.
STARTING LOADOUT: I’ll take 6k PL and 500 zeni – used 1500 to buy my third UT. I would also like my first transformation to be called ‘Adagio’ please.
