"Doubt it. Like sixty-thousand something? Same power I saw last time. She's strong, don't get me wrong on that, but it takes more than brute strength to win a fight. I assume that'd be obvious given the Saiyan's opponents for past few decades." The Oozaru army should have easily swamped the planet and decimated the Tuffle forces, but it didn't. Tactics, Destron, and technology all give the midgets an upper hand on the unsuspecting rank and file of the brutish invasion. "And the only reason I died to Yangcong is that I was stupid. ...Kinda hypocritical I know, but if the old me had bothered to play it more carefully and not get so riled up over his stupidity and accusations about dad I wouldn't be here."
"If you wanted to have a little mock battle we can. A lot of souls up here pass the time with spars seeing as the majority of 'em were all warriors at one point in their lives. Though I'm pretty sure that most of the time they don't host it upon a sub-planet next to Core World... ah well, if the authorities have any complaints they can come down here and say it to our faces. You capable of going wrath? If not I'll stick to base as LARGE APE is the least conspicuous thing that we could pull out right now." Taori was rather strong and just out of respect for their relationship Amara may even deign to suppress her own power, something she hadn't done very much lately since her foes were mostly Demons.

"Er, around there,"Taori replied as Amara quite accurately guessed where Rosemary's power was at. If sixty thousand was a number nobody so much as scoffed at these days, then Taori really had further to go if he wanted to be able to keep all the Saiyans safe. And, well, Amara had a point about brute strength not being everything. Taori knew all too well that it was the Tuffles' tactics and intellect that had kept them alive for this long. In generations past, Saiyans had rolled over countless civilizations - so the fact that the Tuffles had lasted this long said something to their tenacity.
"At this point, maybe the Tuffles have earned some kind of truce,"Taori idly mused. "Even if they've killed plenty of my friends over the years, I can't help but sort of respect them. I don't think any other race in the galaxy would've persisted this long. ...Except us Saiyans, of course."It was as if an unstoppable force had smashed straight into an immovable object. What other outcome could there be but a decades-long war? Maybe it was time to accept this couldn't be resolved by simply bashing each other's heads in.
Though, that was something to think on for later. Taori felt himself growing excited as Amara explained sparring was not against the rules in this realm. In fact, people did it quite often. "Wrath?"he asked, "If that's what you call it when your power spikes up without transforming into an Oozaru, then sure."He'd never called it 'Wrath' before - he just kind of thought of it as an odd power spike he was able to tap into sometimes.
"Besides, I never much liked Oozaru,"he added. Taori took a few steps back, then got down low into more of a proper stance. "You want to go full power right off the bat, or work up to it?"
"You'd think that the species which holds up strength and tenacity as core respectable values would bother to give the Tuffles some credit for it, even if they're in a war... nah BECAUSE they're in a war. The fact that they held out so long should be impressive right? I feel like now more than ever peace could be achieved if the dolts in charge just temporarily shoved their pride aside and bothered to try and hash it out." Amara probably should share her suspicions regarding her own origin, but she had no idea how Taori would take it. Not only because it would be WEIRD considering the topic of conversation, but also because that'd implicate Garrick in having different types of 'relations' with the enemy.
"Ye, Wrath. Yellow eyes, spiky hair, usually increased levels of anger. At least that's how MOST Saiyans power up when not turning into an Oozaru. Anyway we can probably stick to base for the whole battle unless that blood of yours starts really boiling to be let free. The less flashy our numbers and the less likely chance there is for someone to come and kick you out." Taori was reasonably strong. Even if he was below her by a margin her cousin-in-law could manage to handle himself quite well so long as Amara didn't resort to any of her extremely dirty tactics. "Off-topic but, Yangcong had mentioned he went Oozaru like once. And that Rosemary had done something to him only AFTER that had happened. Do you know what it was?"
Amara's suit had gained a small glow of its own, holoblade forming automatically as the woman twirled it in an idle stance, awaiting Taori's answer and an official start to their practice match. Besides she always did better when responding to enemy movements than taking the initiative.

"Well, that's the thing," Taori replied as Amara gave her own take on the whole Tuffle situation. "Saiyans love strength and tenacity... When it's coming from their fellow man. When it's coming from someone who isn't a Saiyan, it tends to get on their nerves."He wasn't sure why have was talking about Saiyans as if he wasn't one of them - hell, he fell victim to that folly plenty himself. But, well, he supposed he'd gotten knocked down a peg by people that weren't Saiyans one too many times by this point. It was becoming painfully obvious that Saiyans weren't the end all be all when it came to might across the universe.
Though, that didn't mean Taori was done trying to compete with the galactic powerhouses. In fact, he was only just getting started.
As Taori got down into his battle stance - one fit slightly pushed back, his hand up in front of his face with his palm outstretched and his knees slightly bent - Amara asked him one last question before they got themselves started. "Yeah,"he replied, "She pulled some kind of mind control trick on him, or something. She seemed to think that'd be good enough to keep him docile while he was in prison. ...Though, clearly it wasn't as solid of a hypnosis as she seemed to think."
Not her smartest move, really. They should have just killed him when they had the chance. Then, Amara would still be... Well, she seemed fine, all things considered. Besides, Taori needed to focus on the now: there was a fight to be had. He wasn't so sure what was going on with Amara's twinkles and sparkles over there, but his own ki flared up after a moment, and he decided to get things started.
"Ready?" he asked, though he didn't wait for an answer before he leapt forward and lobbed a ball of ki energy right for her, primed to cause a big, fiery, loud, but relatively harmless explosion. That was just a distraction, anyway - he quickly zoomed in on foot and kicked himself off the ground, swinging himself around mid-air for a kick aimed right for the woman's neck!
"I never really felt like that myself," Amara admitted. "Seeing someone else who was more tenacious and powerful inspired me to grow stronger, even if they weren't a Saiyan. Some of my combat instructors were Aliens and I held only respect for their positions and might. So I suppose I'm just unusual when it comes to that." Or more likely her diluted blood had eradicated any natural trace of the claimed disdain for others. She had been raised to hate Tuffles as a byproduct of her surroundings regardless of Garrick's efforts, yet still even during her soldier days, Amara only did it out of duty, never hatred. It had made her squadron very casualty-free at the cost of glacial progress.
"Mind control?" Amara mused aloud. "Mind control that she never once used on Yangcong before he tried to transform into an ape, is that right?" Amara had seen her abilities first hand during Yangcong's assault on the capital. Something about the Queen revolved around the Great Ape state given her tendency to throw out power balls and 'lead' the wild Oozarus herself. "Something tells me that not only is it imperfect, it's also limited. You know what that means?" Taori's minor projectile came whistling her way, Amara's blade rising to slap it away in a manner more akin to a bat than an edged weapon. The Tuffle followed through with a quick dash of her own, meeting Taori mid-stride and aiming to deliver a vertical slash.
If the attack hit, the Saiyan would find himself with no cuts or open wounds, the weapon phasing through his body with only internal pain and Ki damage left behind. "It means that you might be able to challenge her without having to worry about that whole hypnosis thing!" She finished, withdrawing her weapon and hopping back two paces to gauge Taori's immediate counter.

"Startin' to share that sentiment myself, to be honest,"Taori briefly replied as Amara described how seeing others stronger than her only pushed her to want to grow in strength as well. He'd only ever been taught in combat by other Saiyans, and had had a good twenty something years of brainwashing about Saiyan superiority rattling around in his head, but he felt like he was starting to open up to other races, lately. A bit more. He was still fairly soured on Arcosians. And Tuffles, to an extent, but that was a more deeply rooted issue. There was that one Tuffle who had saved his life, a while back, so they weren't all bad.
As for their fight, it wasn't hard to notice that Amara had managed to destroy his little smoke bomb before it had gone off, which left him wide open on his approach. He quickly pulled his leg back and expended some of his ki energy to increase his speed, and he just barely managed to swoop past Amara's blade of ki without it nicking him. He landed opposite her, exhaling deeply as he could feel the sweat coming on already. Amara was pretty good at fighting, huh? Taori grew even more excited as he came to understand this would be no simple and easy match.
"You think she can only control Oozaru?"he asked her during the brief pause in their battle. "I suppose that... Sort of lines up with what I've seen from her. Otherwise, I think she'd have done that to him back when he first attacked. In fact... If I'm remembering right, she forced all the Saiyans around her to become Oozaru back during that battle, as well."The report on the battle had said something to that effect, at least.
"Something to consider, I guess!" he exclaimed as he rushed back at Amara again, this time electing to go all in on the power of his kick as he let loose a burst of ki that propelled him forwards, the tip of his foot primed to strike her on the side of her torso if she didn't do anything about it.
Taori avoids Amara's attack with [Light] Fancy Feet, then moves in for an attack worth 16,800 with [Light] Get Your Kicks!
Taori zipped out of harm's way last second, Amara's holoblade slicing through nothing but air as the tip hit the grass below. With a flick, the weapon returned to a two-handle grip as she leveled it towards her sparring partner. "I'd say so. There isn't much reason as to why she'd hold back on using it so long and why every Saiyan she commands is always a giant ape instead of taking a more nimble approach with something like Wrath. At least that's my working theory, but if she could so easily control every Saiyan then she'd already be doing it." Amara hadn't understood why the prospective Queen decided to unleash a horde of Great Apes WITHIN the capital city and not just rely on other Saiyans would more safely and effectively squash the threat. With this piece of the puzzle in a theoretical place, it'd all make sense.
Amara's blade vanished as Taori suddenly sprang forward, a gauntlet forming around her right forearm and hand that she brought up just in time to catch the man's attack. The energy behind it seemingly vanished in place, as the woman's other arm swung around with cannon in place. "Don't wanna hurt you too badly!" Her power temporarily dipped to something much closer to Taori's as she unleashed a rather massive beam of energy straight in his face. "And don't take that as arrogance or whatever. I have no idea how well you can handle these types of attacks!" Hopefully he'd still be standing and well after enduring that massive wave of bluish-white energy.

"Guess she's never used it on me,"he replied, "Even when I got, uh, kind of up in her face about her taking the throne. She probably would've rather just killed me, back then."He supposed he should be thankful she hadn't, but it wouldn't be the only time a leader had gotten their pants in a twist because he defied their authority. "If I had a zeni for every time a planetary leader almost tried to kill me for giving them an attitude... Well, I'd only have two zeni, but it's kind of funny that it's happened twice."He wasn't so sure if Amara knew Azoth, or who he was, but he wasn't so sure of his own feelings on the guy, either.
He probably wasn't evil, but he was also a pompous asshole.
As for the battle, Taori's kick met Amara, but not quite her flesh: she'd managed to raise a guard up in time to block his blow, then quickly spun around with a counter! Taori pulled back and raised a guard of his own as he took note of the apparent cannon that had been placed in front of him, and it fired off quite the blast into him! He was sent skidding back across the ground, and ended up kicking up a fair bit of dirt and grass along the way, though he managed to withstand the blow, only slightly singed.
"Whew,"he exclaimed, exasperatedly, "You haven't been sitting idle either up here, I can see. Don't worry about me, though - I can handle much worse." Seeing as how being the initiator of their clashes wasn't working out so well for him so far, Taori hung back this time, and waited for Amara to go on the offensive.
Taori uses [Light] Harm's Way, boosted by his Restrained Might ability to reduce Amara's damage down to 13,230, or 31% damage!
"Striking down a Saiyan for questioning authority is like punishing a bird for flying. It's gonna happen and to think otherwise would be stupid." Though apparently, he had not run into trouble once but TWICE with rulers. "Unless Earth or Namek spontaneously got a new leader since I last died, I'm going to go ahead and assume you're talking about that Azoth guy?" A slightly haughty but probably well-intentioned Arcosian that Amara had intended to call upon if the war went south. And well she DID, they just never got a chance to meet before Yangcong and her had their fight to the death in the middle of nowhere. "Yeah he isn't exactly... lax." Azoth had done nothing explicitly wrong as far as she knew, but Taori and his rowdy ways could definitely trigger a response.
Her massive blast had struck home, though the Saiyan put up some modicum of self-defense as he hardly seemed injured after the fact. Amara's handheld cannon hummed with passive energy as she allowed Taori to find his footing again. "Yeah well there's actually a LOT to do up here but I spend a lot of that time being dumb and training anyway. Kinda a bit strained after that last attack, so I'll just do this instead." With a small amount of focus a cylindrical vial filled with a vibrant blue liquid of some kind formed in her palm, Amara summoning a Ki charge from all the way across Heaven. Now this was a very real and PHYSICAL item that she had a limited supply of to power her gear for 'free', meaning they needed to count.
The back of her weapon popped open and happily accepted the charge into a slot, energy ramping up as she took aim and fired off another low-powered blast. "Like this? I can use little condensed packets of condensed, liquified Ki to power it in absence of any actual effort."
Amara uses a charge of her Arm Blaster to fire 10,000 PL at Taori! One charge remains.

"Earth had something called an... Erec- no, election, yeah. I think. They pick their leaders by voting over there, which sounds... Odd. I wouldn't trust most Saiyans with picking the best leader, at least."Though, Earth was still in one piece after all this time, so, he supposed it must work well enough for them? "But, no, it wasn't the leader of Earth or Namek - and yes, it was Azoth."So Amara had met him. "He and I didn't hit it off so well. I kind of laid into him, then as Alpinia and I were leaving, he attacked me from behind. Real nice guy."He supposed war with Arcose might be an inevitability if their leader was that unstable - but they did have to deal with the Tuffles, first.
And now Amara was doing... Something. Taori watched with a raised brow as she used some sort of device to harness... Ki? Was that what it was doing? It sort of reminded him of the blasters that most Tuffles used in order to fight back against the natural superior might the Saiyans wielded against them. Had Amara figured out how to make and use one of her own?
Taori wasn't exactly sure what to make of it, and he let his guard down when he probably shouldn't have - a moment later, a ki blast suddenly lobbed up and out of the device, right for him! "H-Hey!"he exclaimed as he held up his hand to try and swat the thing away and used some of his remaining pent up ki to brace his body for the impact, though the second his fingers made contact with it, it blew up in his face rather violently, causing him to stumble back in a coughing fit as the smoke cleared. "Ack... I didn't know you could use your gadgets for that,"he stated as he waved away some of the smoke.
Hopefully she wouldn't do that again so suddenly - he'd be ready for it next time, though. "Ugh, I'm glad you're not a Tuffle, or that might've been it for me. Not a whole lot of Saiyans can handle a Destron Gas bomb to the face. Though, they haven't used those in a while..." Taori was lucky they hadn't - he couldn't say he'd still be alive if the Tuffles had continued to use Destron the way they had at the beginning phases of the war. He'd entered the fighting not long after the last known uses of it had occurred - but there was no guarantee they'd never use it again.
Taori uses a momentum boost to bring his PL up to 84,000 for this post, then takes Amara's attack for 12% damage!
"He did what?" Now THAT seemed very unlike Azoth, but Amara had no reason to doubt that Taori was telling the truth. The man wasn't stupid but manipulation and lies weren't really things he was known to do. Or even be very good at. "I mean I've MET him before in person. I was polite and everything because at the time I couldn't transform and would rather NOT have my face re-arranged by an Arcosian Emperor, but to think that'd he just straight-up attack someone! I mean be honest Taori, did you try and make it a physical fight or was it actually just words that set him off?" It was really hard to just buy into the story that the Emperor would act in such a juvenile and petty manner, ESPECIALLY on a Planet where he was trying to promote peace.
"Oh I sure can use 'em for that! Don't get it wrong though, those Ki charges use MY excess extract and all of this fancy tech runs off of MY Ki to power it. I don't rely on batteries or external power sources as androids or Tuffles do." That was the one sticking point Amara was incredibly defensive of. All of her combat gear wouldn't even work in the hand of another. They were recreations of enchanted physical objects that Amara could reform and utilize with hardlight, a mixture of magic and technology to create the most efficient summoning method. "I can't use free potshots that much though because wouldn't you know it, making liquid Ki is actually very heckin' difficult."
Taori mentioned something off-handedly about him being glad she wasn't using Destron as a Tuffle would. "You know, I fought for a while in the war too and there were fewer and fewer Destron attacks by the day... despite the fact that we KNEW they had more in store. Maybe their own soldiers got tired of using that horrible weapon on other living things, even if they were Saiyans." Mm. Still not exactly a good time to bring up her own heritage.

"No, Alpinia can vouch for me on that one,"Taori replied. "I may have, er, invited him to be 'Emperor of my ass,' but I didn't so much as approach him. He came at me all of his own volition."It was troubling that the self-proclaimed most powerful thing in the galaxy had such a short fuse, but the only thing Taori could really do in response was try to get stronger himself. Arcosians weren't unbeatable, he knew that much. Someone could defeat them if they had enough strength, but who? Taori hadn't quite seen anyone who could max out their power like a lizard could. He'd joked with Vocado before about a Super Saiyan being able to make short work of them, but everyone knew they were just a legend. That they didn't really exist.
As Amara went on to explain how her blaster technology worked, Taori couldn't say he was understanding it all that much better. "Uh, to be honest with you, that sort of technical jargon really just goes right over my head,"he sheepishly replied after Amara got into the meat of it. "Though, I'll just assume it's like some extra ki reserves you can only use a few times without charging it back up. Something like that, right?"He assumed that was the gist of it, but Taori barely even understood scouters, let alone Amara's portable ki cannon.
"And, uh, I guess,"he replied to Amara's theory about the lack of Destron in the recent years of the war. "From the bits I heard from intelligence, the Destron was kind of destroying the whole planet alongside the Saiyans they were using it on, so I guess they weren't desperate enough for a kamikaze maneuver like that. Not yet, anyway."Taori cracked his neck back and forth as he could feel his inner ki beginning to rejuvenate, and he felt ready to come at Amara again.
"Personally, I like to just rely on my own might as much as possible," he added just before he rushed in again, this time with a few small ki blasts of varying but relatively weak intensities to keep Amara occupied on his approach. As he closed in he ducked down into a slide across the ground towards her feet, and attempted to swipe at them to knock her right off balance!
"Let me get this straight, you give him teenage levels of sass and the guy decides it is totally appropriate, as a foreign leader, to try and deck you out in the street?" Amara couldn't suppress a small amused snort at the scene. "Bet he kicked your ass real good, eh. 'Learned your lesson' about respect Taori or are you gonna invite him over again later? Whatever the case may be, he's far from infallible. Unless stuff has radically changed, Azoth had trouble finding enough strong allies to consistently support him. He may be the strongest singular being around, but all it'd take is two POWERFUL Saiyans to defeat him." Amara hoped that he knew that. Trying to force peace onto the Saiyans wouldn't be easy, and if Azoth assumed that his raw power would force consideration, he was a fool.
"Oh. Uhh... I can put it more simply. They're basically just weapons. Like how some Saiyans use swords or axes or clubs? Basically, that except this one just pulls from my Ki to shoot stuff. I could still PUNCH people and hit them full force, just projecting my power has been difficult." The cannon shifted into a wrist-mounted blaster, a few particles drifting from it. "All the fancy switching it does is just magic and stuff. That's the gist of it." With that in mind, she'd prep her new weapon as Taori gained some of his vigor back. It looked like he'd be going on some sort of attack soon. Hearing him reiterate the part about his own might made the girl huff a bit, dispelling her weapon. She would SHOW him a firsthand demonstration!
His Ki blasts were weak, a hexagonal translucent blue barrier springing up to absorb the projectile with little issue, Amara squinting through the smoke a tad too late as Taori came sliding in. With a surprised blink, she'd flip up into the air with a spin, avoiding the Saiyan's low sweep. She landed a bit shakily, immediately attempting to punch Taori diagonally into the dirt with a single, powerful strike!

"When you put it like that, it does sound petty,"Taori replied with a chuckle as Amara came to grips what Azoth's fragile ego. "But if he thinks beating the hell out of a Saiyan is going to teach them any sort of lesson, he really doesn't understand Saiyans. I guess he apologized - or tried to apologize - after he'd whipped my ass a few times, though it's not as though that amounts to a whole lot, given the circumstances."
And Amara was right - so long as several powerful fighters worked together to keep Azoth in check, there was only so much he could really do. While Azoth stood tall, he stood tall alone. Taori could name at least half a dozen folks he trusted to have his back, just off the top of his head. And while not all of them could stand up to Azoth alone, together, they just might have been able to.
Amara's dumbed down explanation of how her cannon worked made more sense to Taori as well. "Hm, I could show you a few pointers about harnessing your ki for projectiles at some point,"Taori replied, though not before Amara leapt up over his leg sweep, where she hovered in the air for a moment, then shot out a powerful punch right for Taori! He was ready for this one, though - he quickly countered her strike with a potent ki blast that ripped through the air and knocked her punch back, with enough force behind it that Amara would need to block or avoid it if she didn't want to get cut up a bit.
Taori, meanwhile, pulled back again to catch his breath. "Hypothetically, if I do manage to take that throne from Rosemary,"he asked, figuring he may as well get as much advice here as he could. If he went around asking people about this back on Plant, word might reach Rosemary's ear, and he wasn't too keen on letting his potential opponent know he was coming. "What do you think is the best way to go at this whole Saiyan-Tuffle War? I somehow doubt the Tuffles would surrender even if we directly assaulted the capital, but the Saiyans won't exactly be happy if we just sign a peace treaty after all this time."
Taori counters Amara's attack with [Medium] Union Burst, and uses his Combat Learning ability to change its variant to Overflowing, sending a remaining 12,600 damage at Amara!
"Well at least you got that going for you. 'The Emperor of Arcose apologized to me for his brash actions!'" Geez she believed Azoth to still be a relatively well-intentioned person, but it seemed that certain parts of Arcosian culture just couldn't be left behind. Amara was relatively certain that the Emperor would stand on the field of Plant's war sooner or later regardless of if either side wanted him there. Taori would have to be ready to fight him in a MUCH more serious scenario. Her face scrunched a bit at Taori's offer, though: "I genuinely appreciate it but it all stems from some sort of wound I suffered from landing on Earth. A wound that APPARENTLY decided to carry over into the afterlife of all places. Once upon a time, I could fire blasts on my own just fine, but now? Not a chance."
Amara's downward punch met sudden resistance as Taori fired a point-blank energy wave reminiscent of her own shenanigans earlier. Unlike the Saiyan, Amara's defense was swift and effective - her automatic shielding flaring up to protect its master from the blast. Unfortunately said automatic shielding also consumed an entire Ki charge, so she was down to two left now. A fractional bit of Taori's beam made it through, stinging Amara's cheek like a fierce slap rather than a full-powered attack that she quickly waved off. The force was still enough to push her back enough to give Taori some breathing room, Amara's shoulders rolling in anticipation as she sized the larger and actually armored Saiyan up.
"A sudden toppling of the current leadership would probably make the Tuffles a bit more open to talk, given Rosemary's more open opinion and stance on the conflict. Seize that opportunity to negotiate with whatever leadership they have at that time, considering there was no chancellor last time I was there. Seize that moment as its the MOST critical part of it. You need to frame any potential ceasefire or treaty as politically beneficial to both sides. Considering the length of the war though... you may need to secretly arrange a faux battle. Meet on the field army against army, allow the most zealous to take the frontlines. Minimize casualties. Fight to a standstill and THEN open the possibility of a 'permanent ceasefire'. Calling it a treaty directly is bound to piss some Saiyans off regardless to that's probably the term you'll have to go with."
Amara took a deep breath, fight momentarily forgotten as a plan - HER original plan - played out within her head. "It seems cruel and deceptive to have even more soldiers killed and wounded to trick them into accepting peace, but quite honestly I can't see a much more effective way to quell the unrest short of inviting Azoth's Empire into your house and having them do it by force. And... that's not an option."
Amara uses a charge of her Battle Armor to defend against Union Burst, leaving 2,600 PL. (+5%)
