With the dust settled, Erebos took a step back and surveyed the scene. Things were certainly worse for wear, that much was obvious. Corrupted eyes and tendrils writhed in celebration, and wisps of smoke still plumed from the crater where Crotona lay, her body barely showing signs of life. The Oni wasn’t sure if he should be excited about that last part.
As the last of Phakk’s power sucked itself away, Erebos pumped his fist, jumping for joy as he cheered. ”Woo-hoo! Let’s jot this down in the history books eh? The time a Demon, a Kai and a mortal throttled an ancient beast.”
Ready as he was to head home, it seemed things weren’t quite finished yet. Phakk, in her normal state, still held immense power. Even if she was shuddering and practically begging for the fight to stop between her shallow breaths, it was clear she wasn’t quite done yet.
Thoughts raced through his mind as Ward and Tiamat stared one another down. Was it proper to continue the battle? Heroes didn’t go for the throat, at least not in the cool comic books or dramatic cartoons.
”Oh come now, Tiamat. We’ve done it! She’s beaten, clearly. This is the part where we say ‘never do another evil deed again!’ And then in like, six months they’ll try again. That’s how heroism works.”
His attention turned to Crotona, briefly. She was barely conscious. Would she be in trouble if they continued? Leaving a half-corpse on the battlefield was probably a bad idea.
”Besides,” he started, shifting his eyes subtly to try and clue Tiamat in. ”We’ve got other problems to deal with. Nero and Pankaa are still duking it out over there. Shouldn’t we go check on them?”
Finally, he turned to Ward and Phakk, giving them a cocky, smug smile. ”Good try. Honestly, probably one of the better fries I’ve seen in like, a decade! You should really take her and go now, though. We can even have a rematch if you’d like once you’re all healed up.”
He stepped back a bit, hands on his hips as he waited to be chewed out by both Kais. Pacing around the battle, he subtly stepped into the shadow of an untouched Ajissa tree, his foot collecting shadow beneath it. This was some of the small bits of shade that had been untouched by Phakk’s influence. Filtered shadow, sure, but also free of corruption.
”So yeah. Hope you guys learned your lesson; your opinions suck and ours are the best. The door is to your… Up. It’s… It’s in the sky. Just fly away or something.”
