A blazing sun shone over the port as ships came in and out, ferrying cargo from all over the world to be sold in one of the city's many shops. The port had a sense of vital energy about it, life seemed to have its own tempo here, and things were always busy. But beneath the towering colossi laden with cargo containers, beneath the small, puttering passenger ships moving people back and forth from the islands dotted around the coastline, beneath the hustle and bustle of the docks, with machines carrying the enormous containers from the docks to the warehouses, beneath even the glittering blue waters that shone so brightly in the hot sun... was a dark shape. The shape was moving quickly, creating a lightning-shaped wake as it zigzagged through the labyrinth of moving ships in the harbor. As soon as it approached the shore, with a huge splash, the shape came to the surface and leapt out of the water onto the dock. Soaking wet in a worn-out red gi and athletic shorts was a grinning young ginger-haired earthling, standing barefoot on the docks.
"YEAHHHH! SOUTH CITY, HERE I COME!" the young man shouted to the sky, thrusting both arms into the air. This young man was named Shoga, and this was his first time leaving his home island of Papaya. He had just begun his fateful journey away from his home to travel the world in search of strong opponents to test his skills against. "I may have overslept and missed the boat, but I won't let anything delay this journey! Not even if that means I had to swim here!" Shoga declared in a boisterous tone to nobody in particular. Although his flashy entrance and shouting had managed to stop the bustling crowds of the port for a moment, things soon went back to normal, the stream of people moving on to whatever business they had. Shoga, on the other hand, stood like a rock in that stream, staring up at the buildings with his hands on his hips and breathing in the atmosphere as the crowds moved around him. This was his first time in the big city, and Shoga had no intention of letting it go to waste. His eventual plan was to take the main road from the port to get to South City, the regional capital, but he couldn't resist making a stop here first. It was, after all, an exciting new place full of exciting new people! He could hardly contain his burning excitement and keep from shouting again, just thinking of all the things he might see and do here. The possibilities seemed endless!
Grrrowwwrrrr... A loud rumble from Shoga's stomach made up his mind for him, though, and he decided that the first priority was to find something to eat. A big place like this was sure to have tons of interesting restaurants, right? So Shoga set off, slinging a small gym bag over his shoulder, and began wandering the streets in search of grub.
