Hazel's smile deeped when he explained the scars, every new bit of information she learned about him made her excited and feel closer to him, maybe she was understanding why she felt so pulled toward him. They both had oddly similar abuse from life, different stories but the same pain behind it. Then shook her head in response to his comment about not liking tight shirts, "I don't think it would suit you either,"
Her glowing eyes ran over his physique again, running her hands through the hair on his chest. "I guess you're not naturally pink haired?" She 's referring to the color of his chest hair not matching the hair in his head, although she had already known this from the smell of dye from when he renewed the color.
"You're so strangely unassuming you know that? I would have never thought your past would be like that. A mob boss who seems sooo sweet," she tilted her head with a sly smile before continuing,
"But you can be so harsh when you want to…. I really like that,"
She thought back on how furious he was seeing her be impaled by the demon back at headquarters and how worried he had been. Her cheeks turned pink remembering how wonderful his harsh and angry voice sounded.
She had avoided his earlier comment on how she was still thinking about what happened on plant, she didn't want to think about it anymore, yet it was almost all she could think about at the same time.
Hazel asks Derry about whether or not his pink hair was actually natural after discovering the color of the hair on his chest was different. “Yeah, long story short,” Derry begins to ramble a bit about the pink hair story, “I used to be blonde, I needed to hide my identity, and I dyed it pink. Ya know, to match my flames? No real need to hide anymore, but I kinda got a bit attached to the color.” The demon compliments Derry on how he could be such a sweet man yet violent at other times and that she really likes it. He looks right back at Hazel with a smile on his face and replies, “Well, the same can be said about you… and I like that.”
He never really thought something like this would ever happen to someone like Derry. He’s always been afraid of getting into these sorts of relationships due to his background. Derry fears that should they discover who he really was, they’d attempt to flee from him or remain there, but only out of fear for their lives. Hazel, on the other hand, presents a unique opportunity, one in which he could finally have this sort of dynamic without fear nor resistance. He was willing to accept it, and it looks like she was too.
Unsurprisingly, Hazel said nothing about the incident on Plant and outright ignores it instead. He shifts around in the bed a little bit before asking her, "You know you didn't have any control in the situation, right?" It's clear to Derry that his close brush with death back on Plant was bothering her, but he tries to remind her that it wasn't her fault in the first place. After all, it was him who approached Hazel in that form, albeit it didn't know it was her at the time. A guilty conscious weighs heavily on one's soul. Derry of all people should know.
Hazel looked up at Derry, her blue eyes filled with pain, "I couldn't forgive myself if I-.... control or not, it doesn't make it any better," she looked away, with her wild wavy hair hiding her eyes. "I can learn to heal better but…. I can't heal you if I have nothing to heal? I'm scared to be around you, but I can't imagine not being near you at the same time. Humans are so fragile, your lives are so short, and fleeting," in some way she was on the precedence of knowing exactly what she felt, the thing she couldn't understand from Yangcong. What it was like to fear losing someone so desperately, she saw and even tasted his pain, yet didn't understand it till now.
Hazel had basically expressed her fear of losing him, and how she had thought of them possibly together that far ahead. "What if I can't bring you back?" Tears started streaming heavily down her face, she hated it, the thought hurt so much, she started trying to wipe her face with the back of her hands, there was so much and it felt weird. "Is it meant to hurt so much?" She mumbled in a low tone as she sniffed, "Is love supposed to hurt? Sometimes I feel like I'm floating, but on the inside." She looked up with a umm, before clarifying she felt the floating on the inside of mind, "And like after the …. I feel like I'm wrapped in barbed wire," part of her wanted to believe this couldn't be it, was love supposed to be pleasant? Yet in truth she knew it was and she would have to learn to endure the pain and fear that came with it if she really wanted to find a partner in Derry.
She paused…. Her outward expression showed her surprise. She never.. she's never really considered a long term partner before. Yet she was with Derry. She reactively covered her open mouth then her brow furrowing as she became redder and redder.
'Stop being a stupid stubborn mule, you know, you fucking know,' she thought to herself.
Derry looks right into Hazel's eyes, filled with pain and guilt as she admits that she just couldn't forgive herself whether or not she was in control. She starts rambling about her healing magic and how humans are so fragile before Derry speaks up and states, "Hey, there's no reason to be scared to be 'round me, 'specially now that I know 'bout that whole Ravenous thing." He pauses for a moment, taking a few seconds to continue staring into her pained eyes before continuing, "Really, I was, well, reckless. I wasn't in the best condition when that happened, and I was slow on my feet. I suppose you caught me at a real bad time, but I suppose I haven't considered how you would feel 'bout gettin' myself into so much trouble."
The demon continues expressing her fears if Derry can't be saved and can't be brought back before asking if love is supposed to hurt so much. He grabs hold of Hazel's hand and responds, "If it truly does hurt ya, that means you truly care 'bout me, that ya wanna see me happy. I know that 'cause, in some ways, I feel the same." Truthfully he doesn't share Hazel's fear of loss, at least not nearly as much, but he too wants to be with her, to see her succeed, to keep her safe. "I wanna be with ya, Hazel. With all that we've been through, both the good and bad, I still wanna be right by your side. If you truly worry 'bout me, don't push yourself away."
Once Derry was finished trying to reach out to Hazel, her face starts turning red once again and she covers her mouth. He responds by giving the demon a little smile before placing his hand right on the scar on her face before continuing, "You know, I'm glad you decided to come here, Hazel." He moves Hazel's hand that was covering her mouth before moving in to kiss her in the lips.
Hazel flushed deeper from his words, he didn't care if she could hurt him or not, he didn't want her to go anywhere. He moved her hand when he said he was happy she chose to join him on this trip, "Derrick, I-" her soft voice interrupted by his lips on hers causing her to wrap her arms around his shoulders, when the kiss broke her messy hair seemed to isolate them from everything be each other, "I think.. I think I do." She rested her forehead on his, "I love you," her hands slid from his shoulders to caress his jaw.
"It's a shame we will have to continue to pretending back on Earth," she had enjoyed their time openly acting on their emotions at the start of this budding relationship, yet she was slightly concerned about the other elites, she wasn't entirely sure if Yangcong had noticed the way they acted when Derry found her. And well, Kon had already assumed they were an item due to Hazel's touchy physical nature. "But before we go back to that…" Hazel's devious smile stretched over her lips, "We have a whole night to ourselves~" her blue eyes giving him a sultry look before practically jumping him. Letting the night fade into black
Derry and Hazel's lips were locked together before she could interrupt. As the demon wraps her arms around Derry, he does the same and brings her closer to him. The two embraced each other for what felt like minutes before they finally pull away from each other, both of their faces shining red from the gem. Hazel moves her hand from behind Derry and moves it to gently caress his jaw before accepting that she truly does love Derry. The crime boss' heart skips a beat at the wonderful news, and he couldn't be any happier. "And I love you too," Derry mutters, moving his hand back to the scar on her face.
Hazel makes a point how they have to go back to pretending back on Earth, which only slightly disheartened Derry. Both of them have to keep up appearances for the public, since seeing a presidential candidate with a popular singer might seem a bit off to some people, not to mention that it might stir something up within the Dirty Snakes. However, there is always night when the two can get together again when no one else can see them. Hazel interrupts Derry's train of thought and smiles about how they still have the rest of the night all to themselves. She almost hops right onto Derry as he states, "Let's make the most o' it then," before bringing her back down, their lips separated by mere inches. "Ship, lights out," Derry commands as he moves in to meet Hazel's lips yet again as the lights dim around them, the couple only being illuminated by the faint blue light from their window into space.
