Jackie would nod and collect her winnings with a wide grin on her face. Putting three of them away and keeping the two out to play again. Mind already made. She was being a bit sheepish with free tokens, but who cares. Other than the Earthling, who stormed off. Jackie could only hope she never got that furious over a game. Tables would be burnt if she felt too crossed. Accident or otherwise. When Derry congratulates her and calls her a kid she stiffens up and frowns. Giving him a stiff upper lip as she tossed her head away from his gaze. Guy didn't look much older than Jackie, but I suppose the title of CEO required some seniority.

"Kid, eh? just how old are ya?"
but the sounds of coins dropping to the table bring her attention back. Her crimsons light and face perking a brow at the CEO's insistence on playing with an increased pot from him. His place, his rules she supposed. She'd join alongside the demons at the table who all throw in their own two tokens. Of course, if Derry wanted, he could just keep watching and toss the tokens in regardless. But he wanted a risk.

"That's fine by me, sir. Have fun with your hand."
She let out as the dealer gave Derry a quick look before nodding. Planning to deal the cards out respectively to each player just like before. One up, one down. Nobody has an ace as their revealed card, so a lot is up in the air. Jackie herself has a nice Jack of Spades though. The table is quiet as the others just casually scan at the other's single card. Morbid curiosity. Derry would be the first one asked what he wanted to do with his hand.

The moment Jackie asked Derry about his age, he couldn't help but laugh a little bit before turning his gaze back onto the woman and replying, "Thirty two. I'm pretty sure I'm older than ya given looks. Anyone younger than me is basically a kid." He gives her a little smirk before moving over towards the seat on the other side and get ready to play a game with Jackie and the demons. Jackie wishes him luck on his hand, and Derry gives her a wink before responding, "Same to you. I've got plenty o' these bad boys, but it would be a shame for ya to bust out so soon."

The cards were sent towards each player, one up and one down. No one appears to have an ace readily available, at least one that isn't revealed. The three demons have a king of hearts, ten of spades, and four of clubs respectively while Jackie managed to snag herself a jack of spades. Derry's initial card, however, wasn't very promising as it was a mere two of diamonds, but the card he has underneath could prove to be quite useful if he snags the right card. The best thing about having an ace of clubs hidden was that he could afford a risk with ease. Everything will work out just fine if he manages to grab an eight.

"Hit," Derry states, and the dealer sends a card right over towards the gangster, a queen of diamonds. That's alright since he still has an ace, but now he's really looking to grab an eight a second time. The two demons closest to Derry stayed while the third one asks for a hit, though the moment he goes for another card the crime boss could see a bit of a twitch in his eye, a bit of a telltale sign that he busted. Whatever Jackie does, Derry asks for a second hit, and the dealer hands him over another card, this time being a seven of spades. He managed to get up to twenty, so it was somewhat decent. He still has the other three members to contend with that are still in, however, all of which could've gotten a twenty one themselves.

Derry seemed to have his own way of getting into the game. Flashing a wink at the young woman as he sat on down and then gathered his cards. She wasn't really good at reading people, so here she couldn't really gather anything from her opponents gestures. Plenty of them had good poker faces though. Unlike herself, who looked kind of confused and in thought after scanning her two cards. Jackie didn't have an ace hidden under there. Not even another face to stay on, which would have also been good luck of the draw. No. Jackie's hidden card was a pitiful four of hearts. With a big margin for error and incredibly low odds at at that value, she'd have to take another.

"Hit."
As it came around to her she spat that out, taking the next card given with some twitch in her eye. A five of spades It wasn't exactly a blackjack but the odds of winning on this would be a lot higher, and the chances of landing into something even better was low enough. Between the people around here, staying at this was preferable. Coming around to her again, the young flame would decide to deny another card. one hand held to make it clear her intent.

"Stay, I'm good."
It was just a matter of flipping them over on the count, since Derry and she were among the last to take cards from the dealer. She doubted her chances here, but at least it was reserved and provided some opportunity if people didn't have good luck. Busting would have just spelled an automatic loss.

Jackie grabs yet another card from the dealer, but her face shows slight and subtle signs of panic, mostly due to her eyes widening just a bit. Derry wasn't having too much luck determining what the three demons were thinking as they manage to maintain some solid poker faces. At long last, Jackie stays, and everyone at the table flips their cards over, revealing their hands. Surprisingly enough, the two demons closest to Derry busted out as one got a twenty two and another got a twenty four, and neither one was happy about it. The third demon grabbed himself a nineteen, but his expression soured once he saw Derry's twenty.

The only one remaining was Jackie, and once she flips her cards over, Derry sees that she also managed to get a nineteen. It was pretty good, but not enough to beat a twenty. He smirks and reaches for the entire pot, stating, "Well, looks like beginner's luck is wearin' off already. Now if your up for it, the trainin' can begin." The demon next to Derry stands up and takes whatever chips he still has on reserve and leaves, quietly grumbling to himself and leaving behind only four players. Derry places four chips down like last time, but makes his way over towards Jackie and asks her, "Well, ya want another round, or did ya have somethin' else in mind?" Derry takes a quick glance over at one of the clocks nearby, and notices that he's still got plenty of time to spend before having to return back to HQ. He's been having a pretty good time with Jackie thus far, so he'll stick by and see what she wants to do, though the more he looks at her, the more he gets a vague sense that she's seen her before. Then again, he's met many people during the day and night outside of the casino, so it's entirely plausible that he's seen her on the street randomly.

With everyone starting to flip, and the young monk being on the opposite end, her prospects initially looked up. With a nineteen, she glanced over at the other demons who either completely busted or tied with her in another game. Was better than losing a hand. But, that was until she noticed that said demon give a disgruntled grumble at Derry's cards. Of course, someone could easily have gotten a 20. It's not that uncommon a set, with so many face cards. Jackie just laughs a little and points a finger at Derry from across the table.

"It's not even that! Man, you must be riggin' it!"
Her tone didn't seem to indicate anything serious, as did her smirk, but it seems the other two that stayed at the table didn't quite like her attitude in the face of loss. One of them flipped the bird at her without saying much, but the redhead didn't catch that. Instead of keeping an eye on the winner man as he decides to make the same bet on the table again.

"I don't mind more of this unless ya wanna suggest something else. I'm probably not ever going to raise on a bet on blackjack though. I've got a few games of that with these tokens in that case."
Seems she was genuine in asking Derrick now for advice on any other attractions here. She might have eventually gravitated to Blackjack on her own with time, but the suggestion for cards was solid from him already. If he had anything else positive to input here that'd be great. She only catches the faintest glimpse of him looking her over like he was trying to get a good look at her body. The Sun Monk only rolled her eyes.

"Ya know, people usually offer to pay if they are oogling at me, Derrick."
Jut, on the spot. She had little shame to tease people like this if she felt she could get away with it.

Derry couldn't help but chuckle a bit after Jackie's little joke about his luck, but unfortunately the two remaining demons weren't exactly very big fans of the jest. Jackie might've not noticed one of the demons flip her off, but Derry certainly did, and he wasn't exactly a big fan of people insulting his guests. Derry moves back to face the dealer, but moves his left hand out towards the demon's side and launches a small pink fireball right at the spot. The demon shouts in pain and stands up, patting down the spot that Derry shot him at as the big boy looks around to see who did it. Derry maintains his poker face and pretends nothing actually happened.

Derry listens in to Jackie's response while the demon was still looking for the culprit before stating, "Well if ya don't mind, perhaps one more round here will do it for me." Derry gives the dealer a wink before the man starts shuffling a new deck. Now the table was down to three competitors since the fourth demon is still wandering about about. While the dealer was shuffling and Derry was still looking over Jackie, she notices him and teases him about how people usually offer money for staring. Derry shakes his head and holds his hands up while stating, "Oh no no, sorry 'bout that. I swear I ain't sight seein' for the reason you're thinkin'. Besides, I'm taken at the moment. I was looking 'cause, well, you look vaguely familiar."

Before Derry could continue, the dealer was already handing the cards out, and Derry swiftly pushes his four tokens closer to the dealer before his face up could arrive. Derry managed to snag himself an eight of hearts and a four of spades for his hidden card. A nine would be absolutely perfect for getting a Blackjack, but the risk of grabbing a higher card like a ten or any royalty. "Hit," Derry states, and the dealer passes him over a seven of spades. It wasn't exactly ideal as he was sitting at a measly nineteen, but it was as good as it can get. He kicks back and waits for Jackie to sort things out herself.

Jackie watched Derry very plainly sit up next to her and sneak a bolt of energy from her. And while her eyes were not as attentive, she could still sense energy pretty easily. She only clenches her hands a bit in her lap as a reaction to seeing the demon get its comeuppance and stand up. It was likely Derry sent just a small amount to annoy the being rather than hurt him. it was enough for him to bugger off. It was going to be his last round by the sounds of it anyways.

"Oh, haha... of course."
She blushed a little and scratched at her face, turning to the dealer to get her cards. Everyone would see her with a face card, King of Hearts, and a ten of spades as her hidden one. She tried better to keep her straight face on when she realized this. Just taking a breath in and keeping her eyes set between her foes. Trying to read them for any slip-ups of their own.

"Can't say you were a teacher of mine, and you're too old to have been at my college, likely. Ya could have just caught a glimpse of me somewhere on the streets or stores here in Central. I kinda stick out."
Hair let loose and all-natural or spiked, that deep carrot orange this redhead had was unmistakable, as was the attitude and strong eyes. If he remembered her with any of those qualities, they'd probably pop out more to him.

"Maybe ya snuck a peek at me while I was watching some of the Budokai, even. I've fought with a few of the participants, ya know. Kinda hard to miss my flames or talk of them."
She offered, as clueless and innocent as she was. The dealer came around to her on her 20 and she kindly had to just smirk up at him.

"Stay."

Jackie seemed to be a bit embarrassed after her assumption as to why Derry was looking at her was proven incorrect. It wasn't exactly uncommon for Derry to receive those kinds of comments from other women, though it's mostly because he's scouting the place and making sure no one is hiding anything. During the game, Derry takes another peak at Jackie's face, both for trying to pin point where he knows the woman from and to see if her poker face has improved. He still couldn't pinpoint where she's from, but he also notices that Jackie's poker face is significantly better than last time. Derry quickly glances down at her cards and notices that her face card is a king of hearts. Could she already have a twenty, or even a Blackjack?

Jackie comments on how she doesn't recognize him and how he probably saw her out on the streets. It was the most likely answer, but Derry couldn't help but think otherwise for some reason. She was right about sticking out like a sore thumb considering her hair style. It was when she mentions that she was at the Budokai and uses flames that she grabbed his full attention. Once she says she's staying, Derry started putting a few pieces together. He didn't know too many people who could manipulate flames like him, but he distinctly remembers that there was some place with... Them.

"Oh really?" Derry asks. He can't jump to any conclusions immediately and presume she's from that place, so he'll have to pry a bit more and see for himself. "Didn't know you can manipulate fire. You learn that stuff or what?" Derry turns back to the dealer after the demon announces that he stays and copies everyone else, stating, "Stay." Everyone flips over their cards, and Derry reveals the nineteen he has. The demon possessed a measly seventeen while Jackie scrounges up a twenty. "Well I'll be damned," Derry mutters as he turns towards the lucky one at the table, "That's an extra six tokens right there, Jackie."

As expected, the third and final demon was fed up with constantly losing and leaves the table as well, leaving just Derry, Jackie, and the dealer. As the dealer looks around for any more potential players, Derry turns towards Jackie and asks, "So what brought ya over to the tournament? Clearly it ain't just for spectatin' if ya mingled with the fighters there."

Jackie was right proud of herself with that high pair right there. Once the cards were all flipped she found herself on top with a twenty. It'd rack her up a good bit of coins and actually get her up to about twelve coins now. Luck was on her side still and seemed to be for a while as Derry mentioned some things about her claim to fire. Typical curiosity, one couldn't really blame him for having. It's not the strangest thing in the casino, honestly.

"Yeah. Yeah, I did learn it. Most of us Earthlings typically draw upon our masters for this sort of thing, when it comes to ki, right?"
She stated and almost asked for clarification on his side, seeing as he had some form of basic training in ki use at least. Strangers really were not privy to her personal goals and problems. She shoots a finger gun at him regardless of choice in response and scrapes those bad boi coins up into her bag. The demon doesn't like this, probably, and gets up around the time. She stands up and pats off her lap like it had dust on it or something.

"Ahh, yeah. I guess I just wanted pointers. To speak with some strong folk. I'm not really that tough myself and wanted to know what I'd be having to contend with. Only really started getting back into training a month ago, about."
From her general power and way she carried herself, she was definitely suppressing her true colors then. A hand coming up to ruffle her hair for a moment as she looked around. If Derry had any suspicions, Jackie wasn't exactly catching on to him trying to pry information out incognito.

"You learn from somewhere? Seem pretty strong yourself, sir. Wouldn't surprise me if you had your own style, even."

Despite losing at Blackjack, Derry wasn't really distracted by the sudden loss of tokens. He was too focused on listening in on how Jackie got her fire powers and how he can always just get more. Ten years of doing business as the boss of the Dirty Snakes makes his offshore account pretty big, and he always has plenty of funds to draw if he needs it anyway. He can always just get back his tokens by spending money on it, but information was something else entirely. She mentions learning about ki manipulation from her masters and kind of wants a bit of clarification from Derry as well. He simply shrugs and states, "Eh, self-taught right 'ere. Don't really have much time to learn from the big boys, what with runnin' multiple casinos."

From what Jackie was saying, she only really got back into training recently. Derry reads her power level yet again and it was still sitting at a measly five, basically proving to the crime boss that she's hiding her actual power. Derry didn't see too much of a purpose hiding his own strength, at least not while he's in his own casino. He only really has to worry about masking it when doing his nightly deals or changing its signature when he's out during the day in that suit of armor. "Ah, I see. Probably hidin' your power right now considerin' these bad boys say you're sittin' at a five," Derry comments as he taps his scouter sunglasses.

Jackie was trying to learn a bit more about Derry himself, but unless she starts asking specifics about his own power or what else he's up to, there's nothing to really hide. "Eh, tried it once before I started makin' my little casino empire. Never really worked out too well, and I was basically self-taught. Most o' the stuff comes from martial arts films, and I ain't talkin' bout those fake ones that are all 'bout spectacle." He shifts his seat so that his whole body is facing the woman before asking, "Ya live here in Central, or do ya have a place out in the wilderness?"

Jackie wasn't all too surprised. Self Taught seemed the norm the more city folk she's talked to with any bit of strength behind them. Her tribe might have been old-fashioned in comparison. Means he could really do a lot of things, but most people stuck with fundamentals and pure ki manipulation. Special cases like hers were usually with a purpose in mind, and the only thing she could really feel coming off him was a whole lotta pink. And that was more a vibe than energy. Regardless, she twists in her chair to also face the man. Crossing legs as they are freer to do so out from under the table.

"Gotcha. And yeah, no use in broadcasting myself around everywhere what I'm not needing to throw down, is there?"
She's not surprised he'd find one way or another to gauge her level of strength. This 'five' he referred to was just average among an untrained Earthling populace. She herself didn't have the right proper number for it. She lays her hands in her lap and relaxes.

"Lotta those movies are outdated. But I'll not stay on that for too long. yeah, I live here in Central. More Southern edge of the city. Ya mentioned living here too yeah? This being your big and fanciest casino and all."
There was a slight shift in focus as her eyes glance around the place. Seeing if anyone else caught her glance.

"Anything fancy ya know? I already told ya about my fire; Ah, wait, here."
She wasn't so coy as to ask this without a bit of show and tell. And it still wouldn't be the strangest thing for someone in here to see an Earthling do. She snapped two fingers as she rose a hand up and lit her thumber ablaze with a nice, lighter-sized flame. Imitating it in a very controlled setting here, with her power held back.

"Tada. Easy lighter. For Birthday Cakes, of course, I wouldn't touch a cigar or anythin'."

Jackie has a point that she doesn't really want to broadcast to everyone around her who can sense power levels that she's really strong. Derry feels the same way, especially since during the beginning of his time as a crime boss. All the lackies around him were looking at him strangely as if they can take him on, only realizing too late that Derry values loyalty very much. Anyone who even had the idea of taking him down at that time disappears and is never heard from again. What was he thinking about again? Right, ki suppression.

"Well, if I ever walk down an alleyway, I tend to suppress it. If some mook ever comes at me and tries to mug me 'cause he's got a power level o' five, I just give him a surprise and break one o' his fingers. They get the message and leave. Good way to spread rumors, too." Jackie asks Derry if he lived in Central City due to the casino here. He shrugs and admits, "Yeah, I got a place not too far from here. I got places in all the cities, but Central's the most convenient."

Jackie continues asking the crime boss question, wondering if he had anything special before demonstrating her fire powers, snapping her fingers to create a single flame. He raises his eyebrow as he's surprised that she can use flames as well. "Hmm, impressive. You know, I actually have somethin' a bit similar." Derry raises his hand up and, with a quick snap of his fingers a single orange flame emerges from his finger tips. "That ain't it, though," Derry comments as he changes the color of his flame to red, then blue, then finally settling on pink. "Bit o' a coincidence. Not too often I see someone who also wields fire."

Jackie blinked at the man's rather colorful description of a backstreet mugging. Yeah, no, made sense. Some people got a bit descriptive when it was over stuff they liked. A CEO possibly being taken for money and extortion would be more extreme than a broken finger here and there. She just chuckles a bit and puts away her own light.

"Makes sense. I'd probably do similar. Maybe not break somethin' intentionally, but send em' flying. A lot more convincing to random street thugs if ya do something outside the bounds of normal human capabilities."
Seems she wouldn't go as far as burning, but the idea of showing a brief glimpse of strength far beyond was the idea. The purpose, even. Speaking of burning, her eyes got caught up in the sudden display of his own colorful flame. Oh, wow. Very normal looking at first. Her eyes shoot back up to his when he decides to explain that wasn't all to it though.

"Eh?"
It wasn't very obvious why eyeing those flames now, shifting in color, made her freeze up on the spot. Perhaps the surprising blink in her eyes suggests something like that looked neat. Jackie took the moment to sit up straight in her seat and shoot a sideways glance in between him and his fiery hands. Settled to pink in front of her now.

Chemically, it made little sense, but the power to produce flames, in general, wasn't a chemical process. It was a direct conversion of one's inner ki. Jackie perhaps wonders if she too could just change it on a whim or if that'd be sacariligous to her people. A hand comes up and brushes some of her curly hair up out of her lowered face.

Jackie seems to agree with Derry's sentiment on dealing with the average street thug, though she prefers to go about it in a different way. She talks about tossing them around rather than breaking a finger to make it seem a bit more superhuman and such, and the crime boss finds himself nodding as he listens in. Jackie certainly makes a fair point, though Derry always prefers subtlety whenever he can afford it. In his line of work, however, sometimes subtlety isn't going to cut it and he needs something a little bit more convincing. "I think they get the message quick 'nough, though the thought of tossin' them 'round like ragdolls does seem appealin'."

Once Derry starts showing off his own fire powers, she's caught by surprise that he's capable of doing it too. Once Derry settles on keeping the flame pink, Jackie comments on how easy it is for the crime boss to change the colors so easily. He smirks and replies, "Well pink's my usual preference, if ya couldn't tell by the hair. Sometimes if I don't feel like bein' seen, I can easily just swap the colors and I'll be fine. I'll tell ya, it wasn't easy tryin' to figure this out at first," he states as he takes the flame and moves it over to his other hand while changing its color to white, "But I've managed to get good control over this. I can adjust color, how fast it spreads, and even how hot it is. 'Course I'm immune to my own flames, but I can do the same with others."

Derry takes the white flame and holds it up against the collar of his shirt. Despite Derry himself being immune to flames, his clothes weren't exactly fireproof. He shifts the color to black to let Jackie see a bit better and she will notice that the black flame isn't burning his shirt in the slightest. Derry extinguishes the flame and turns his attention back on Jackie, stating, "Taken me 'bout a year to get that down by myself."

Of course, pink was his preference. Was all over him. His hair stuck out just about as much as hers on a average day. His total control over this ever changing colored flame was incredible, even by her own standard of knowing people with an art specific to flames and light. She wasn't even sure if the masters had such a control over their own element, as much as they were the teachers of it. With the time frame the older gentleman was giving her while demonstrating how he could even make it not burn regular clothing, he had to be some insane prodigy.

"Oh, wow. Did not think I'd see a flame so cool it wouldn't even mark clothes. That's usually the first thing that goes if people aren't careful. I myself just display a huge caution tossing my fire around. Easier to direct it to make sure it doesn't hurt rather than making it so useless that it don't burn."
Besides, she had another thing that wasn't just pure flame, if she wanted to cast light or do something a little different. Almost challenged, the young flame instead now holds her hand out with a palm facing upwards. A small ball of energy swirls into it before producing light. Far beyond what a normal flame of the same volume could produce. It was loud enough in brightness to catch a few of the patrons eyes as she showed off.

"Of course, I control more than just pure flame."
The plasma ball was more telling, and hot. So she did not let it last long before she squashed it. Her power peaking just a moment as the fading red of the ball soaked into her form harmlessly.
