CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: Pictures and/or descriptions work for this.
BACKGROUND: Nobody actually knows where Slayg came from. Some believed that he was born from a shooting star, a piece of a greater evil that the gods failed to slay. Other tales told of how he crawled from the slag pits of a now-sunken city, the byproduct of enchanted forges and children’s nightmares. Yet others thought that he’d crawled from the deepest pits of Hell itself, carrying some infernal fire.
Whatever his origins, Slayg was a mighty monster that simply appeared one day to terrorize the whole Earth and all of its peoples. He devoured entire villages for his meals. He plundered the greatest empires of their treasures. He slew even the mightiest of warriors and wizards. No weapon, no matter how well forged, could pierce his armored hide. No spell could entrap him. And no poison could lay him low. He was unstoppable, and the only respite from his rampages were the months-long naps he would occasionally take.
This changed one day, when an ancient sage came down from the sky and chose five mortal disciples to do battle with Slayg. These five were trained to surpass the normal limits of mere mortals, and to use the power of their very souls in combat. They were equipped with magical artifacts, crafted by celestial beings that dwelled beyond the stars. They were taught how to fly, so that they could fight the dragon in the air. Finally, they were given a secret spell for locking away evil things. Even so, when they first did battle with Slayg, the fight ended in a draw. The still-living Slayg retreating to his lair. The five followed, and cornered him in his cave. Yet even with Slayg weakened and cornered, the heroes could not seem to defeat him. So, the five beaten and battered warriors stole a great stone urn from the dragon's hoard and fled. He gave chase, only to run into an ambush. The five warriors spoke the magic word of sealing, and imprisoned Slayg inside of his own treasure. This urn was then chained closed and taken to the Western Deserts far from any kingdom. Locked away inside of a great vault beneath the Earth, it was hoped that the dragon could never escape.
And he did not. Over time, the stories of Slayg’s terror and tyranny faded, his name was forgotten, and tales of other heroes and other monsters were told. The Earth healed and the dragon's prison remained untouched and hidden for two thousand years… until a team of archaeologists uncovered it, and removed the lid. Now free, Slayg has awoken to a strange world. An Earth full of unfamiliar races, magic, and customs. An Earth that does not remember him or know to fear him... Yet.
