Amara goes on with a little speech regarding what she had witnessed on Plant, including the destruction of villages and the use of some sort of deadly Destron Gas. That's the same shit that Yangcong had been housing and making modifications to for quite some time now. Does Amara know about what Yangcong's doing with the gas, or is she just about as clueless as Derry is at this point? After slamming her fist into the ground and causing a little quake, Derry takes one last puff of his cigarette before completely disintegrating it. "I ain't callin' ya naive," Derry states to the young woman, "It's nice to have those thoughts in your head. But... it's more important to keep in mind the reality of the situation at hand. It ain't gonna be pretty, but you can at least hope for the best. That's what makes us all feel whole."
Derry has his own fair share of rather unpleasant situations, both times when he got himself into this mess, and other times when it was completely out of his own control. He got other people hurt, people he cared about, and he had to accept that he was never going to be able to make it up to them. Thankfully, it seems like Amara is standing up and is accepting what needs to be done if things get out of hand, asking that the Snakes only play defensively while she takes to the frontlines herself. He quietly chuckles for a bit before replying, "I can appreciate your drive, Amara. You really do care about this sort of thing, and not some crazy warmonger like some of my other customers and, well, a certain hybrid. But let me warn you that should you die, that means we don't get paid, and we're packin' our bags and leavin'. Don't you go dying on us, alright?"
