Donût felt very awkward as his sneakered feet squeaked into the reception area of Saint Puddin's Hospital. This was for multiple reasons. First of all, he did NOT look like he belonged anywhere near a hospital, wearing a black tank-top, ratty second-hand jeans, a wallet chain, and a pair of old canvas sneakers that had probably been patched up far too many times with duct-tape. Not to mention the veritable mane of hair, the big and tacky cheapo sunglasses... The bouquet of flowers in a pre-watered vase was a little weird, but not unheard of.
He approached the main desk, all four feet and eleven inches of himself, and tapped on the wood to get the attention of a rather bored-looking receptionist that may or may not have also been a nurse.
"Hey, yeah... um... I'm Donût, here to see Leriac. This is still visitin' hours, right?"
The receptionist nodded and yawned before tapping something into the keyboard attached to the computer built into her desk.
"Are you a member of her family, or listed emergency contact?"
"No, no... just an acquaintance. I wus tha one that brought 'er ta tha hospital, actually."
The receptionist nodded again and tapped some more. She puzzled over what she read on the patient records. Then she held up a little radio to her mouth and mumbled something too quietly for even Steel to hear. The device squawked back with what sounded like an affirmative With yet another nod, the middle-aged woman turned to Donût.
"It seems she's recovered enough to be cognizant and have visitors. Please do note, though, that she might be weak. And if she asks you to leave, you WILL have to leave."
"Gotcha, gotcha... thanks..."
"You're welcome. She should be expecting you. She's in room 213 of the ICU. Just head up the stairs and take the left hallway until you see the sign indicating the second floor ICU entrance."
"Thank ya again."
And so it was that, a few minutes later, the door to Amara's room opened juuuuuust a crack. Then a fuzzy head and a pair of sunglasses appeared from around the door, peeping to see if she was awake. Then the rest of the little Earthling followed eeeever so slowly, before he closed the door softly behind himself. He was wearing a VERY nervous smile on his goateed face, and he was holding the cheap glass vase full of random flowers in a very odd way... as if he was VERY afraid of accidentally dropping it. He was silent for almost a full minute before he spoke to the girl on the bed.
"....Heeeeeeeeey, Leriac. So uh... tha receptionist told me you were feelin' better today. But uh... Howsabout ya tell me yerself how yer doin'? Feelin' better?"
