BACKGROUND:
Sayori Dreadwyrm, mother of Zuqetta and prior heiress to the Dreadwyrm Clan.
Sayori's upbringing was akin to most Saiyan's, with a notable difference being her noble blood granting her benefits and accolades beyond the norm. In her youth, she was brash, fierce, and always looking for a fight. The Dreadwyrm Clan being a Matriarchy, much was expected of Sayori, and she ensured she succeeded at any task placed before her.
Sayori would attend the Royal Academy, though her time amongst her peers would be cut short as she strove to excel beyond them in a society that recognized strength as the sole merit of their people. By the age of five, flight and energy control came as naturally as breathing and she was able to prove her worth with the decimation of saiba hordes. Her higher than average battle power granted by her bloodline combined with her accolades in the wastes earned her an immediate position in the military, but her ambition wouldn't stop there.
Sayori would climb through the ranks, earning many of her promotions through besting the guy above her in combat. By the age of thirteen, she was a first lieutenant of a makeshift squad; the ferocity of the ongoing war with the Tuffles causing members of said squad to come and go too often to warrant more than a number for the unit.
6th Brigade, a simple search and destroy squad.
While Sayori's thoughts at the time had remained focus on progression through the ranks and a culmination of further strength, as time went on, curiosity began to shake the young Saiyan's heart. The war with the Tuffles took precedent of course, but ever the battle hungry race as they were, many Saiyan's waged battles on multiple fronts, with foes beyond the Tuffles. Sayori was one such Saiyan, following the lead of her Captain against a Heran convoy; space pirates with plenty to "share", as it was said amongst the squad. It was this mission, that would spark Sayori's curiosity of the greater universe, as at the age of fifteen, Sayori would be introduced not only to a people besides Saiyan's and Tuffles, but to memorabilia procured from the convoy that had origins across the universe.
Earthling products, catching her interest most of all.
The war, the off world missions, and life would continue, with Sayori's interest in Earth and its strange possessions only growing. The Saiyan's foothold on Plant would be cemented, and with it, trade routes across space would begin to grow. Taking advantage of this, Sayori would become and avid collector of Earth products, though this wouldn't consume her. On her eighteenth year, Sayori would take part in the Great Hunt, a tradition amongst the Dreadwyrm Clan and a Rite of Passage into adulthood. Armed with nothing more than a spear, and challenged by the condition of refraining from the use of energy attacks, Sayori would venture deep into the wastes, to where the very air was toxic; out so far from Saiyan and Tuffle society, she would encounter a mutant of mutants, a great Saiba-Dragon.
Though Saiba in nature, this creature like many others had seen itself mutated by a strange chemical weapon that had begun to see use in the war some years prior. While many a life was lost by this weapon, some few had flourished, and this Saiba was one. A creature of seemingly immeasurable proportions, with a snake-like body that stretched beneath the grounds of the wastes for what felt an eternity. Emerald scales harder than steel, a poison breath that could melt all it touched. From dawn to dusk, then dawn again, Sayori would fight undeterred; with the restrictions placed upon her, the wyrm proved a challenge, but a challenge no greater than the machines she'd recently dealt with against the Tuffles. By mid-day, the battle had been won, and Sayori had earned her place as Head of Dreadwyrm Clan.
While she had earned the favor and respect of the elders in her clan, bringing such a prize back to the City of Sadala had earned her further accolades with her superiors. Another challenge would ensue, and upon the defeat of her Captain, one mentor, Sayori would find herself the new Captain of the 6th Brigade.
The unit that followed her would see notable change, and a lower death toll as Sayori took more consideration into her battle plans than her predecessor. Though many skeptical few, would believe it was less of her having a level head and more of her refusing to be a risk taker. As what was in plain view of all, was the budding relationship beginning between she and a low-class engineer, a widower by the name of Potate.
Though only three years older, Potate was a man known well enough yet lacking greatly in terms of ambition and rank. His power was on the lower end and he was of what was considered a lesser blood. He was an unfortunate mad, whose previous wife and child had seemingly died, and whose brother had been killed by his own son, leaving him with no family to speak of. Despite this, Potate remained a soldier, an engineer who worked on attack pods with a side hobby of dismantling Tuffle tech, something that was of great interest to Sayori. She couldn't understand a lick of what was explained to her, but she was interested regardless; and it was through the many conversations she held with this man, that an attractions would develop between the two, much to the ire of her noble blooded clan.
Distancing herself from her clan to remain amicable with her family, Sayori would have a home constructed in the noble circle within Sadala. A mansion, to which she would invite Potate to live with her, her dream being to fill the home with a new family. This mansion on a cliff-side bordered the Radditsu District closely, and Sayori would begin to take in the downtrodden as employees of the mansion. Whether they could or couldn't fight was no issue, as by using what she learned of Earth as a base, Sayori would issue fitting jobs from those willing, be it maid, farmer, or guard.
Then, by the age of twenty, Sayori would conceive her firstborn, Zuqetta.
Excitement and joy would overtake Sayori, while nervousness took Potate; and while her clan would frown at the aspect of their clan head producing an heir mixed with lesser blood, they would accept the outcome nonetheless. Sayori's outlook and ambitions would change completely, her desire to rise through the ranks replaced with a desire to raise her coming child. She would take a leave of absence as she focused on her family, going so far as to outfit a room complete with Earthling toys and decorations and remodeling the mansion to suit the same. Her belief of Earth being one of a peaceful blue ball drifting through space, a place she'd have loved to visit once her family was complete.
The war however, would have other plans...
A weapon now much more prominent and terrifying amongst the populace had been making rounds across the war torn wastes, Destron. Rumors spread of the terrible substance, something which seemed to guarantee death, affecting individuals differently with no hope for salvation. Word of a squad, their bodies melted and mutilated become a tale to scare Saiyan youths and a warning to bring the public eye upon the Tuffles with even more hatred. Even survival wasn't a blessing, as amongst the squad, the tale spoke of a one who'd gone mad, killing all in his path regardless of friend or foe.
While Sayori was undeterred by these tales, seeing them as just that, she was still reminded of the looming threat across the planet. Without leadership, the war had felt as a stalemate, yet at the same time, invasion could have come at any moment.
Sayori refused to wait for such a thing...
Her child would be born, though she would spend hardly a week with her new family; her time only given as she recovered, before preparing to return to the fight. With her daughter returned to an incubation tank, Sayori would don her armor and bid a farewell to her mate before returning to active duty. It was unbeknownst to her, the ire that she'd accrued amongst officials without the kingdoms over the years with her actions, something that would all come to head in the moment of her return.
The mission had been a simple one, one her unit was accustomed to, search and destroy.
A prior scouting mission had revealed the location of a Tuffle base much too close to Saiyan territory, her mission was to rout the Tuffles and destroy the base. The plans were laid out before her, yet all the while Sayori couldn't shake the feeling of how easy things had been. Command from an even higher station was giving pressure for the mission however, so with her orders, she would focus on the task at hand, leaving Potate behind to care for Zuqetta while she was away.
What was meant to be a quick mission however, would be one Sayori would never return from...
No records remained to describe what had truly gone down; a soldier sent to escape had relayed information of an ambush, but that was all they knew. Inspection of the base however, revealed a successful mission; the base destroyed, bodies and machinery strewn about, as well as the massive corpse of the Oozaru, Sayori.
Such was where Sayori's story ended, and Zuqetta's began... Or, so it seemed--
---
Darkness, then a bright light; a room?
A voice boomed, though she could hardly make it out... was it... scolding her??
The voice mentioned all she killed, listed off so-called "crimes" before sentencing her to... hell?
Who the hell was this guy to-- oh, too late to speak up...
Sayori's eyes would adjust, the spinning in her head finally settling down as she lay on her back in an unknown place. A red sky, at least, that was what it seemed like. A look to the left, and she saw what looked like a dead tree; looking to her right, she saw an endless landscape of barren wastes. "Vegeta?" she muttered, wincing as she felt a pain in her back, "Always thought it was hell, but didn't think that was REALLY the case." she say as she sat up, bringing a hand to the back of her neck; one nice pop later, and she was feeling as good as new.
She'd jump to her feet, her tail beating the ground she stood on as she analyzed the situation, "No, this ain't Vegeta." she'd remark, her eyes narrowing on her tail as it pushed aside a small mound of dried dirt. This was a dirt she'd not felt upon her fur before, that much was clear; looking upon the dead trees once more only amplified the belief that she'd been displaced. Her expression become one of anger, she remembered the fight against the Tuffles, the ambush, but couldn't recall the end. She had no idea how she'd gotten to such a place, and besides the vague memory of some voice sentencing her to Hell, she hadn't a clue what had transpired in the gap between then and now.
It wasn't an issue, at least, that was what she would declare at first. Whatever planet she'd been kidnapped to, they'd regret trying to contain a Saiyan. She'd kill them, find a ship, and return to Plant to be with her daughter... that was the plan...
It didn't take long for Sayori to learn the truth however, she was dead.
The knowledge of this, would be denied; she would refuse it, having too much to live for. There were ways to leave, supposedly, though a few of those ways were off limits as they involved something along the lines of "cleansing the soul", which was effectively an actual death as far as Sayori was concerned. "To hell with that!" she'd exclaim whenever some weird, self-proclaimed "god" or "demon" offered her such an option.
She'd find a way to return home, intent that nothing would stop her; she was a Saiyan, a warrior of a renown and a woman of the most powerful race in the universe. Days however, would turn into months, then years; the concept of time to a non-aging body became lost to Sayori. Her travels and attempts to escape continued however; her horizons expanding as she met a plethora of people across all walks of life. Considering it was hell however, what she learned wasn't typically savory; from thieving, to fighting, at the very least it was all practical.
Sayori had no idea how long had passed; escape via makeshift pod was impossible; not due to a lack of engineering skill, but due to some weird invisible ceiling in the sky. The land seemed to stretch on eternally, yet the sky was finite, the complete opposite of the reality she knew. Her failures to escape were beyond counting, but her intention never wavered; this would go on for years, until finally, whether it be due to her own actions or no, a solution to escape would appear before her.
A demon by the name of Zriracha, a complete unknown that Sayori couldn't have cared less about. She'd dealt with demons before, fought plenty, and she'd fight this one as well if it sought to get in her way. When the name Zuqetta was spoken by the demon however, the atmosphere around Sayori would change. This Zriracha knew of Zuqetta, and would share crumbs of information, enough to keep Sayori's attention; what took firm hold of said attention however, was the offer of a deal, a deal that would return Sayori to life.
There was no promise of where, and no return of the time lost while in hell, but she would be returned and would be as alive as she already felt she was in this moment.
There was no need for hesitation for Sayori, her trust in the demon was low, but unlike any other she'd come across, there was nothing vague about the deal this time. She'd leave hell and return to the living; so she couldn't pick the location of her survival? So what! Once alive, she could make her way to Plant on her own and return to her family! Sayori would accept, the conditions seeming hardly an issue; a transfer of magic? Hah, the stupid demon didn't even know that Sayori had no magic, it basically made it a free pass to the living!
As the two shook hands, the truth would be revealed to Sayori; one final truth, that being, that she'd been dead for fifteen years...
Sayori's eyes would widen at the realization, but in a flash of light, she'd be gone; her eyes adjusting to a new environment once more, another, completely unfamiliar world. Trees that stretched to a deep blue sky, lush with green leaves while nature all around began to ring out. Animals, rushing water, wind and peace; Sayori question what kind of world she'd found herself on now, but disregarded the thought. It didn't matter, all that mattered was finding civilization and getting off this world so she could return to her daughter.
This would be easier said than done...
The first few days of travel across the world made it clear immediately, there seemed to be no intelligent life... anywhere. No civilization, only animals, trees, and nature; not even that damned demon who'd sent her here. It was a heavy fact to face, but as always, Sayori wouldn't waver; she wasn't stranded, simply delayed. She'd been given a chance unlike any other, and she wouldn't throw it away, she was a Saiyans, nothing could hold her back!
A few more days of traveling, searching not merely for another sentient if it were possible, but also resources she could craft into tools would see her successfully meet another. Her years in hell had allowed her to hone her senses, energy itself was something she could perceive, something unheard of! Or, so she believed. She'd have been sure to teach her daughter when she met her how to use this incredible ability, but for now, she needed to focus on escape.
Her ability would allow her to meet another, apparently the only other person on the planet, a man who'd been on the planet for over a decade. Ko'tarr, a Konatsian man banished from his world; he'd begin to tell his story, though Sayori didn't care for it. She wanted one thing, and that was to get the hell off this world; who Kota, as she'd mispronounce without a care, was and how he ended up here was of no concern for her. As brusque as she was, Ko'tarr didn't mind; he would make one thing clear however, he could help them both escape, but it would require her help. With his magic, something Sayori didn't believe in, Ko'tarr could fashion them all they needed to make a ship of their own to leave the planet. As part of his banishment however, his powers were sealed; the planet itself was fashioned with a powerful ward meant to subtly deter others from approaching, and yet, here now was Sayori.
This strange occurrence afforded the both of them an opportunity, and so, they would work together for four long years, the final stretch to Sayori being able to accomplish her goal.
Alone with a man who would finally, over time, be able to tell his story, the two would begin to develop feelings for one another. What would occur between the two of them over the course of four years would remain between them and the empty planet, what mattered most would be that their efforts would be successful and finally, Sayori would escape the forest world. Her destination, Plant, her sole objective for almost nineteen years being one thing, to reunite with her daughter.
