Earth. Augh. For the most populated and ecologically diverse planet in the Northern Galaxy, how was it so... boring? Maybe it was just because he wasn't hear kicking up a ruckus like usual, Kabe thought as his sneaker scuffed against the pavement. Even this whole shebang he was about to get into wasn't all that initially exciting to him. And why was that?
He wouldn't go too far. He had to be reserved, hold himself back. Because that thing in his brain worming around and chomping down to claim his neurons was still out of control.
Maybe it said something about Kabe's values that the idea of not blowing shit up with total abandon was so boring that it made him mad. He snapped his fingers in front of his lips and summoned up some coffee, which did nothing for him but tasted absolutely fantastic as he tried to motivate himself. He'd come to Earth with a specific purpose in mind, to find Bee. Curb had been watching over Bee while he was on his little earthen adventure, but in tracking Curb down Kabe found out some rival pirates had in their brilliance had the bright idea to kidnap the son of one of the most infamous pirates in the modern era.
Kabe laughed, as he thought over that again. How fucking dumb were they?
The man could blow up the planet if he let himself loose. But since he was being reserved, and since he was trying to play it toned down so he didn't accidentally get Bee hurt in recovering him, Kabe figured it would be better to go in with some backup. Curb was down for the count, so short of waiting days for his crew to send more, he'd have to find someone else.
He looked through the net on his scouter for mercenary listings nearby. Ideally he'd have gone to the bounty hunter's guild for someone experienced and with some power to back them, but a bounty worth more than ten trillion zeni combined across two galaxies sort of made that impossible.
Most people on the list that were available were small fries, or were overpriced glory jockeys who looked like they'd just get in his way. Eventually he landed on someone he liked, at least enough to hire. Admittedly he'd only picked them because the citrillian reminded him of his husband. He sent through a message, offering a few hundred thousand zeni for backup in recovering a kidnapped child. For the first time in his entire life he stressed the importance of avoiding collateral damage. He gave an address to meet at, and headed there. In the parking lot outside, Kabe coughed up an icecream van, a sunshade and a relaxing hoverchair. He made himself a few banana splits and sat down to wait.
