GENERAL INFORMATION
NAME: Amaterasu--his preferred name.
ALIASES: Too many to list, but Starwatcher is a name they give out often.
AGE: About 7,000 years old.
GENDER: "Depends on my mood."
SPECIES:
- Mystic Arts: You can heal your allies with your magical abilities. You can generate a heal valued at 75% of your PL for 3 KP, 150% of your PL for 6 KP. This interacts exclusively with your base power level, and heals based on your target's base power level. You can choose to heal yourself instead of an ally, once per thread regardless of level used. The self heal generates a heal valued at 50% of your PL for 3KP or 100% of your PL for 6KP.
- Kai Kai: Once per month, you may travel instantaneously from one planet to another with up to 5 others. This also provides a free 70% evasive defense technique, usable once per thread, that is boost-able. You can also post freely in the Otherworld boards even if you are not dead.
- Sour Fruit (Demonic Might): While in your strongest available form, you may activate 10% MP Power Boosts on all of your Attack Techniques for free. This halts your momentum regeneration for that turn. However, you may not use any Power or Ki Boosts on defensive techniques with your MP in your strongest available form.
GENERAL TRAITS:
- Raw Talent: Once per thread, if a standard or support technique has been used by another character in your thread, you may use that technique as if it was your own. Does not apply to Sparking or Merging Techniques and does not carry over to future threads.
- Vampiric: Once per thread, you may designate a Standard Attack as ‘Vampiric.’ If this attack deals any damage, you choose to recover 1 KP or 10% HP.
STARTING PLANET: Earth.
HOME REGION: Pick later!
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: His shapeshifting abilities grant him a near-endless amount of appearances to choose from, but Amaterasu does have a few that he slips into more often than not. They possess a great fondness for dramatic and unnecessarily flashy attire, forgoing practicality for style and surprise. Miscellaneous objects tend to accompany many of his outfits, with most simply acting as cosmetics. Amaterasu prefers to shapeshift his ears to be more human-like.

PERSONALITY: Amaterasu's personality is as fluid as their appearance, restricted only by whatever the situation they're in demands; be it funny, empathetic, stalwart or cruel, there's nothing that the Shinjin can't pretend to be! This does not mean that he has no personality of his own: on the contrary, Amaterasu's flamboyance, pragmatism and ambition are more than enough to make him distinct. Yet beneath all this glitz and glamour is a person whose forgotten what being themself is even like.
- For starters, the warlock is rather consistently sly and lighthearted, be it to charm potential allies, infuriate their enemies or simply as a form of habit. They consider it an imperative to remain calm in the face of any situation; worry, shock and grief imply vulnerabilities that he would rather die than acknowledge. Indeed, a large part of their cool nature comes from an attempt to be emotionally distant from everyone and everything: if he really did care about these people, that would have dire consequences on his plans. So whether consciously or otherwise, he keeps himself at a grinning, smirking distance.
- Amaterasu is curious for curiosity's sake, with no piece of knowledge too boring for him to delve into; he gained his epithet, Starwatcher, from the countless times he would spectate the lives of random mortals from the heavens. What exactly motivates this varies greatly according to the occasion: while it is usually just for fun, Amaterasu's information-gathering is an absolutely vital part of their villainous schemes. How else would he deceive, blackmail and utterly torment his opponents without knowing everything about them?
- They are a remarkably self-interested and even cruel individual, not above practically torturing innocents just to pass the time. This doesn't mean they are incapable of nice things--he has done so many times--but Amaterasu cannot remember a single occasion where he was ever genuinely altruistic. Interestingly, this is not just a habit of his, but something they actively enforce: the Shinjin actively berates themselves for their moments of kindness, considering ideas like "charity" and "love" to be poison at best.
- Despite their bouts of aloofness, Amaterasu is an intensely introspective and pragmatic individual--often-times against his own will. Sure, he's a deep thinker that can plan their way out of any situation, but it also means that there's a small, but loud part of him that will never shut up about ethics and morals and other such nonsense. Most of the time, it only amounts to the Shinjin slightly frowning before doing something unspeakable, but every now and thing, something he could only refer to as a conscience gets the better of him. One day, he'll learn how to stop this.
- Above all else, the Shinjin simply doesn't like themself. An unspoken reason behind his constant shapeshifting and acting is because they are constantly, fruitlessly searching for an existence that can keep them content, trying and failing to find a form that they can truly feel at ease in. At the heart of this conflict is a question he's spent thousands of years trying to answer: who are they when they're not trying to be someone else? Hopefully, taking over the universe will answer this.
BACKGROUND:
Shinjin are born from their fruit fully-developed, with memories capable of recalling every moment to the second. They were not only born to watch but born knowing so, acclimating to their eternal duty within moments of their own creation. In this sense, Amaterasu was not too different--he knew what he was supposed to do. But he knew just as quickly that he wanted more.
Most Shinjin didn't mind watching over the universe, but Amaterasu was obsessed with it, possessing a seemingly boundless fascination for even the most mundane and unimportant mortals. It was the sheer size of the universe that enraptured him, a tapestry billions of light-years wide that seemed to have uncountable potential. It was here that he gained the nickname Starwatcher--a then deragotary term used to make fun of Shinjin more preoccupied with stardust than actually monitoring galaxies. Ironically enough, this only pushed him further--for as good a view as it was to stare down at the universe from the heavens....what would it be like if he was there in person? Not watching from another dimension, but hanging between the stars...?
Unfortunately for Amaterasu, he would soon find his wish granted. The more experienced Kai already took poorly to the mere suggestion of going down into the mortal world just for the sake of it, but once he'd actually tried, they spared Amaterasu no mercy. If he was that intent on being amongst mortals, he would get his chance--and never step foot in the higher planes again. Banished from the plane he'd called home for over a thousand years, he was forbidden from ever stepping foot amongst the Kai. To see the world from an angel's view...it was a privilege. And he'd never see it again.
Over several thousands of years, Amaterasu would take on a countless number of identities, using his curiosity not only for fun, but in a desperate attempt to find purpose. For a long time, Amaterasu's travels were primaraily noble in nature. Even with his bouts of arrogance and pettiness, he was a boon to those around him, trying to see if a life lived helping the world around you was enough to satisfy him. But with every heroic crusade and empathetic speech, the inevitable conclusion drew closer--none of this meant anything. His friends would turn to dust. His acts would be forgotten. He'd spend a century trying to do the right thing and the only thing remaining would be his violent, burning hatred of the Kais, one that grew in tandem with his disatisfaction. He didn't want to be a good guy...he wanted more than that. So much more.
Was being evil the cure? It looked easier to be wicked at least: moral codes were high-maintenance. Venting his frustrations with existence on the weak and helpless brought a sick level of relief to the Shinjin. It was like a protest: for every heart he broke and person he hurt, he could mock the Kais insistence on non-intervention...but even this was only so helpful. Every passing year marked his dissatisfaction with existence grow bigger, and even worse was that being cruel was getting harder. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't entirely rid himself of morality, and eventually he would relapse into being a pathetic do-gooder! Two thousand, four hundred and sixty-four years of malevolence and his only conclusion was to backtrack! No, never! He couldn't go back...
But then they had an idea.
From the moment he'd been born, their life was consumed by ambition. Wanting more than he could get, wanting more than even the Kais could provide. He needed everything. Every corner of the universe, every molecule of existence--he didn't just want to watch them, he wanted to control them! There were so many times during his age of goodness where even after doing everything right he felt depressed--this was why! He wasn't born to watch, he wasn't born to help, he was born to own. He was born to take. Sure, it'd take a while, but they were never afraid of being a little patient. And once even the Kais were below his heels, he'd be happy...
With this, Amaterasu's mind was made up: his being was domination and domination would be his path. The only thing left for him to figure out was how to silence his stupid little conscience once and for all...
COMBAT INFORMATION
TECHNIQUES: You start with Three Standard Technique Slots and One Sparking Slot that you can use any way you like. Some species start out with additional slots, or access to certain slot-based abilities for free. You also start with two additional Utility Technique Slots.
Utility Technique || MAX Power
You may activate Max Power at the very start of your post, increasing the power of all of your techniques by +10% while active. This will drain Momentum at a cost of -1 MP per post at the beginning of your post and prevents you from gaining MP naturally, using evasive or escape techs, blocking escapes, and intercepting attacks meant for others. You can only turn it off at the end of a post, at the end your second post after activation at the earliest. You will still consume MP and not regain any MP on the post you turned it off on. If you run out of MP, you lose Max Power's effects at the end of your post and cannot gain any MP on your next turn.
Medium Offensive Technique || Sword Storm
After conjuring half a dozen or so multicolored, glowing swords, Amaterasu clicks his fingers and orders them to skewer his opponent, exploding on impact!

Light Defensive Technique || "Could you try a little harder?

Power: 60%
KP Cost: 2 KP
Variants: Evasive (2 TP), Power Upgrade (1 TP).
SPARKING Medium Offensive Technique || METEOR STORM
The sky above Amaterasu begins to twinkle as a legion of star-like objects pop into existence, bright enough to illuminate an entire neighborhood: at Amaterasu's command, each of these stars crash unto the ground like meteors, reducing the battlefield to a brilliant flash of stardust! Amaterasu can charge this technique to create a more devastating attack, and it's activation creates a burst of energy that can be used to protect him.
Power: 50%
KP Cost: 3 KP
Variants: Preparation (2 TP), Counter (2 TP), Splitting (1 TP), -1 KP Cost Reduction (2 TP), Power Upgrade (1 TP).

Amaterasu can fly. Oftentimes with sparkly glitter behind him.
Utility Technique || Ki Sensing
Amaterasu can detect ki and other analogous life forces.
