..Maybe he should’ve checked the pod better.
The damn thing had run out of fuel and started drifting through space with an unlucky Pom inside it. With nothing left to do, he had no choice but to watch the void pass him by, and pray that he wouldn’t collide with an object. Such an event would no doubt blow up the pod, and..
You get the idea.
Pom was awoken abruptly by the power of the attack pod suddenly snapping on - oh, emergency power. Of course. It screamed at him, making sure he heard its warning of impending doom at least a hundred times over. He peered out the circular window, folding his tail over itself to prevent it from blocking his way. The pod was hurdling towards a huge blue-green planet, but as he looked closer, he was once again unlucky, falling towards a not-blue-or-green patch.
Roughly an hour later, the pod began shivering as it entered the planet’s atmosphere, its surface burning up from the sheer speed at which it flung to the ground. Pom curled himself up, bracing for the force that came with an attack pod’s landing, especially since the poor thing was already in rough shape. Realistically, there should be enough padding to keep him safe, but with the battering he was getting already.. he wouldn’t count on it.
The pod crashed down, rolling and - somehow - bouncing on the apparently uneven ground. Pom could just hear the debris colliding with the pod’s shell, which made him wince. There was no doubt in his mind that there were some dents and scrapes…
As the attack pod’s movement slowed and stopped, Pom took a second to catch his breath (which he didn’t realize he’d been holding) and relax his speeding heart. He uncurled himself, holding his head to rid himself of his dizziness before forcing the pod’s door open.
…It was so hot. Pom blinked at the brightness, using a hand to shield his eyes from the blazing sun. The difference in this planet’s climate and Arcose’s or his home planet’s was like night and day - the heat was dry and soul-sucking, not humid like he was used to. Turning his gaze down, he examined the area around him, glass littering the ground thanks to the heat. And, as far as the eye can see…
Nothing. Fantastic.
