“You’ll live…You better. Otherwise, I’ll be looking like a fool investing my energy in some dead Saiyan.”
Vale did not know anyone going by the name of Ward, surely it was a Shinjin that had some run-ins with mortals before. Balance was a hot topic among denizens of the Otherworld, about how the same races held the most power and sway over other, lesser races. To sum it up, it was a popularity contest instead of the raw, unforgiving struggle to take from others. As Lottus made clear that only his desires mattered, Vale nodded in agreement.
“Good. As it should be.” Vale stood up, looking around. “By the way, how do you like this place? Did you know, you and I are the only two living creatures that have ever set foot here. Even I am not sure what to make of…whatever this is. The rules keep changing, nothing ever makes sense. Want some proof? I told you I wouldn’t meet you for the entire month and here I am after only the fifth day. Or has it been a month already? Hmm. I couldn’t say. But the beauty of this is…once you open your eyes to its truth, this place is only asking to become something.”
Vale stopped in his monologue, surprising himself with how many things he had already said.
“Oh my, here I am, rambling. You must be hungry. I’ve got the prefect meal to satiate a man such as you.”
He clapped his hand, and beside him a little green alien appeared. It had a humanoid shape, its eyes were bound by a cloth and its hands and feet were tied up. It appeared sentient, though it spoke some completely different language. It would make strange noises, possibly out of fear and stress.
“Tadaah! These little guys hail from some unnamed planet in the southern quadrant. Their flesh has some enhanced restorative properties, not unlike those strange beans they have on Earth. I believe they call them Senzu. It is best savored quickly because at the moment they die, it will turn poisonous due to the conversion of proteins into toxins. Which means, better eat it while it is alive. I have a strange feeling you might need it. It’s yours, so enjoy how you see fit. You can even keep it as a pet.”
Before leaving once again, Vale looked at Lottus above his glasses.
“Oh, by the way. If you happen to hear something strange around these parts, pay them no mind. I’ll see you at the finish line, champion.”
He gave Lottus a finger gun and just like that, Vale was gone.
End of the interlude. The last part of the first step is upon us.
•Lottus is offered a choice to consume a strange alien.
•He can choose not to.
•Both decisions will have a consequence, but maybe one is better than the other.
