The sun offered a gentle warmth as it hung low over the sky of Central City, the later morning light ever so slowly creeping upon the early afternoon. The soothing chill of the northern region embraced the bustle of the centre of the city surrounding the markets. Being a Saturday seemingly every inch of the side walks were full with people about on their day off. Even the students of the nearby Orange Star High school meandered about the open malls of the epicentre of Central City. Having been stuck in traffic for the better part of two hours, the blue and silver sedan marked with the emblem of the twinned tulips intertwined with one another at their base finally came to a stop as sufficient parking was located on the lower level of a nearby structure. Behind the wheel of this vehicle a rather trepidatious younger woman set, knuckled whitened as they gripped ever so tightly around the steering apparatus of the sedan. Taking a moment to steady herself, her moment of lingering panic settled as a voice rose from the back seat. "Are you well Merri? Would you like a moment to catch your breath before we enter the mall?" There was genuine concern in Tunic's voice as she spoke towards the woman barely a few years her senior. "N-No, do not worry about my Lady Baskerville.", Merri scrambled for her words, catching her breath and moving top open her door as she continued her statement. "I do not leave the estate often, much less am I the proper piloting escort for one of your excursions into the city." The maid was careful to mask her dismay as she moved to release herself from the car, and carefully checking the spacing to open Tunic's door before helping her mistress out of the vehicle. Stepping from the car in her usually bunny hooded attire the young woman gave the maid a sympathetic look before following it with a gentle smile. "So long as we made it, all is fine." Tunic spoke with a slight nod. "Speaking of.. your choice for casual attire is not as inconspicuous as Johnathan likely would have suggested.", Tunic spoke through a poorly veiled laugh, pointing out the only slightly more casual maid uniform Merri wore, bearing both the colours and the emblem of the Baskerville estate quite prominently on them. "I suppose it would be too much to ask now that we veil your position within the estate." At this comment Marri gave Tunic a look almost as if the younger girl had struck directly at the maid's person. "I would never wish to hide such a truth. It is something I take great pride in!" A resolve of sorts presented itself in Merri's eyes as she spoke, crossing her arms across her chest as she did so. Tunic wanted to sigh, but felt doing so may upset the maid even more and opted to focus instead on their trip ahead of them. Beckoning Merri to her, Tunic began walking towards the covered pathway connecting the parking structure to the nearby open mall. The rambunctious sounds of people wandering about. There was a degree of hesitation that lingered over Tunic's mind, crowds this size were far from what she was used to, at most in the past it may be a few members of the board of directors or she would be speaking with larger crowds through a screen. But here, there were so many people about. But the young Baskerville was determined to explore this part of the city and with a firm resolve to her intents she took the first few steps forwards towards the adjacent building. |
