A bright flash illuminated the clouds above the Dragon Isles, a beam of light streaking down from the sky and crashing into the ground near the Shrine of Porunga. As the light blinked out, it would leave a Shinjin girl in its place. She was quite short at an even five feet, with white hair and pointed ears. She was clad in a white dress that trailed the ground, with an azure shawl that covered her shoulders. Her name was Minerva, and she had come to assist in what she viewed as a dark time for her favorite planet. The girl looked around her in wonder. She had never thought in a hundred million years that she would have the opportunity to see this place in person. Up until recently, she had only ever thought about her duty in tending to the great Kaiju Tree, the source of all Shinjin. It was a job that she took great pride in, but it was not a job that she alone could do. Many others had the same duty, and they were doing a wonderful job! But now she had the chance to do more fulfilling work; so she was going to take it.
The Namekian society was full of people who were kind, hard-working, honorable, and wise. They managed to build a life of peace and plenty here... and such a life was uncommon elsewhere. She had to protect one of these last bastions of peace, and help their people repel any evils that sought to undermine the life they build... from within and without. The Shinjin might only be a small part of a greater defense of this peace, but she would be happy to play her part. First, she was going to pay her respects to Porunga, the dragon god of Namek. It was said in the ancient tales that he granted wishes. Minerva certainly had a lot of wishes she wanted granted, but she would settle for asking him for only one. She didn't want to appear greedy, after all! First impressions were important. Walking up the steps, she came face to face with a statue of Porunga that towered over her.
Minerva smiled softly and knelt before it, taking note of a pedestal with seven empty indentions. What they were meant to hold, she did not know. Perhaps these missing artifacts were how the wishes were actually granted? As one who was familiar with the divine, she believed in the power such creatures could hold. Yet, no wishes were granted by Porunga in recent memory. Regardless, she would pray and hope that the dragon could hear her. The Kai clasped her hands, closing her eyes and bowing her head in reverence.
"Wise Porunga, Granter of Dreams, it is to you that I pray. I wish for the people of Namek to live in peace and prosperity, and for you to grant me the power I need to help them achieve this. I am not a strong fighter, but I pray that you give me the strength to stand strong against whatever trials stand in my way." With this simple wish, she opened her eyes once again and gazed towards the sky, as if waiting for something to happen. Eventually, however, her gaze would shift to the ground, where a little flower that had attempted to grow through the stone lay dry, brown, and dead. Minerva gave the flower a sympathetic smile.
"Poor thing. You tried so hard to live. I believe that it is those who struggle the most who deserve the most wonderful of gifts." Slowly and deliberately moving her hand over the dead flower, a shimmering golden energy snaked down from her palm and onto the plant, infusing its vitality into it. The flower reacted almost immediately, appearing to pulse with the same energy that was infused into it before finally standing up straight like it used to, growing larger and larger as it began to recover the green hue in its stalk and the vibrant blue and red petals that made up the flower itself. It continued to grow until it was nearly four feet tall, with several large, vibrant leaves traveling up its stalk. They led to the beautiful blue and red petals displayed in full bloom. The flower was not only brought back to life, but made larger and stronger than ever. Minerva grinned in satisfaction, standing from her kneeling position and dusting off her dress with her hands before patting the flower gently like one would the head of a dog.
She waited briefly, as though she wanted to hear gratitude from the flower itself. When she heard nothing, however, a small frown crossed her face.
"Oh, I see. I thought I would be able to hear the plants here. That's too bad." Her grin soon returned.
"No need to say anything, my sweet. I'm happy to help."
