The day had ended, the sun was setting; businesses were closing their doors and locking up their shops. As the red hue of the twilight sky gave way to the black of night, adjusting eyes would steadily come to take in the crescent moon above and series of stars in the sky. The hustle and bustle of the city was dying down, with not even a car being seen more than once every few dozen of minutes. It was time for the city and those within to sleep, to calm their minds and rest their weary souls...
This was true for all but the selective few; those focused on ambitions tasks, those who minds were far too active to give way to the night.
Yes, many slept, those with their heads screw tight to their shoulders with futures as bright as the sun itself. As the darkness took over, so too would those that called the darkness their home. Roused from their slumber, the night life of the city would begin. Far quieter than that of the day, unless you knew where to look.
A dance club here, an underground fighting pit there; some illegal gambling rights and alleyway bot fights. Truly, the night life was where chaos reigned supreme!
But... there was one man, one rather portly and happy fellow, who didn't partake in this night life. Yet here he was, wide awake... and the reason-?
"Hheheheheh, thanks gramps!" A shrill and squeaky voice would call out gratefully, "Yummy, yummy, yummy!!! You bake the best stuff!"
A bakery, closed for the day; behind the shop, in an alleyway was a man in a bakers attire; he stood roughly six feet tall, and featured a silly little mustache and beard, a tiny pointy beard. He was well known in the community for his baked goods, his shop set up a few decades prior. Why however, was he in the alley behind his shop? The truth was clear as day; or perhaps as clear as a little yellow light in the dark.
"Om nom nomnom!!"
He looked over a small glowing creature with a happy smile as it ate his baked goods; was he going senile? Perhaps, but seeing something so interesting, something pulled straight from the coloring books of his childhood touched his heart. Before him, sitting on a silver serving tray, with half its body dug into a plum filled doughnut, was a fairy of all things, and it seemed to enjoy its treat quite well.
"Oh, hohoh well glad I am little miss fairy, always welcome you are!" the baker would say with a jolly laugh.
It was a happy moment, but not all was peaceful; this was the night after all, and the baker did not belong in the night...
A crash, loud and echoing; the sound of metal on metal, something that startled the baker, but escape was impossible now. He'd been seen, caught by those that frequented the night; and with his elderly and robust shape, he'd never be able to move fast enough to save himself. He turned, it was all he could do, and his gaze would meet the trio that made their way down the alley.
"Weeeeeell, well well! Whatsit we got here huh?" a snide make skin to a snake would ask as the hanging street lamp swayed, illuminating him occasionally, "You lost or somethin' fatty? The hell you doin' out 'ere on our turf fer, huh?" he swung the metal bat he held, bashing a trash can and knocking it over to intimidate the baker.
Ramiris... couldn't have cared less, she was busy eating this pastry after all!
The trio laughed and made more supposedly intimidating comments, but what the heck were they on about? Oh well, it wasn't her concern! She needed to finished the pastry before it went stale! It was entirely a possibility after all, the thing was bigger than she was! And it was pretty hard to eat fast with such a tiny mouth!
