While not usually one to lean into the more conspiratorial side of hero work, the one place on Earth that seemed to consistently attract much renown and mystery for its mystical roots was one place that Kaal intended on paying a visit today. The Mount Five Element was one of the many places on Earth that, in the past, had garnered much debate between scientists and mystics alike. Before the popularization of Ki and magic usage, the exact inner machinations of the Mount Five Element environment was unbeknownst to most who attempted to study it. The nonsensical unceasing flames that burned eternally across certain parts of the landscape, coupled in tandem with innumerable cases of individuals reporting strange bouts of hysteria and hallucinatory encounters made the area an incredibly hard place to research.
Thankfully, as time progressed, and the majority of the public began to learn more and more of the nature of not only Ki but also of the mystic arts themselves, a bit more clarity had come toward the understanding of what exactly the Mount Five Element was, and potentially how it came to be.
But, for Kaal, a bit more was simply not enough in his opinion- and today he was dead set on getting some more solid information for himself, in person. Most people who dared to tread within the chaotic conditions of Mount Five and returned warned against the venture altogether unless you were of marginal strength and conscientiousness, but Kaal was more than sure that the Savior armor would be able to make up for any fallibility his frail human self would potentially have.
So, after having cleared his timetable for the day, and leaving one of his secretaries in charge of taking his calls, Kaal suited up and promptly made his way toward the fabled Mount Five Element- running all of the currently known information through multiple different screens within his face plate as he muttered, "We know more about planets millions of light years away from ours than we do a singular, magically inclined mountain. Ain't that a kick in the teeth?"
'Most of Earth's government's time and resources have been pooled toward the research and cultivation of interstellar defense and interaction. With much of their focus being scattered across the stars.'
"And for good reason too- no need to have another Fukushu situation on our hands any time soon. Leaves more time for me to do stuff like this on the side."
While the rest of the world looked for solutions outside of their realm of influence, Kaal thought it best to return to the roots- this was the real reason why he was so interested in Mount Five. If there laid potentially some untapped source of power hidden within its secretive walls, it was a resource that could aid in Earth's race against the cosmic clock. A means to tip the scales just a little bit more into their favor.
One step closer to making a suit of armor that could wrap around the entire world.
Touching down just in front of the base of the mountain proper, the Savior's weather radar could already pick up hints of intense wind scattered about every entryway toward the mountain's inner sanctums. Inhaling deeply, Kaal was just about to start his long march toward the top when all the sudden a warning screen popped up within his visor.
"Something amiss, Sav?"
'Sensors indicate movement from somewhere in the area directly south of your position. Ki readings also indicate the object of interest's strength being sizable.'
"Sounds like this venture's about to be for a company of two," muttered Kaal, as he turned behind him to pinpoint where this potential person of interest could be lurking. He was continuously surprised at just how these one-off, run-of-the-mill excursions of his kept getting interrupted in some way, shape, or form.
Part of what it took to be a hero, he supposed. The realization that anything, and everything can, and will likely not go to plan.
