Central City Zoo! Zaffran had no taste for a visit in its open hours -- she came at midnight, slinking through the green palisade fence as a cloud of mist. Once inside, she walked past lions, orangutans, and the penguin and camel exhibit (pairing odd couples was how this place stayed relevant). It's dark, and a mortal might have been shivering with cold, but not Zaffran. Her steps are too quick and her mind too focused to care for the guard coming her way. Their glares meet and the Earthling is overmatched, he falls to a nightmare and is trampled by hooves. He shall live, but not remember.
Zaffran turns and loops along the blue-and-pink cobblestone path, under the canopy of tall bamboo (stapled drawings to the green trunks depict glittery, smiling, facsimiles of animals that, as a rule, smile as a threat). Grinning herself, the goat finds the petting zoo. It's a half-barn, half-greenhouse, circled by close-set wooden posts painted in legally distinct characters. Some, she notices, actually resemble her siblings, or are otherwise adorned in subtle Hellish imagery (the mouse in briefs more than any)...
She squeezes through the barrier, walks the well-trod mud path to the barn door and swings it open. Then, a man-sized projectile! Hits her in the gut! Flung back to the posts, back and shoulders to the ground, Zaffran struggles with the mad lump of carnivorous flesh. Its tusks burrow to her neck, the snout spurts unpleasantness to her jaw, nevertheless she wrestles the boar down and pats it hard on the rump.
"Scat! Scat! You'll have your treats after!"
The bristled pig snorts and trots in circles, falls to its front legs, whines and squeals a racket as Zaff tussles his mane and goes inside the barn. She wipes on a milk-sodden rag (thanking her friend cow), before taking her seat among the largely dozing, or dopey, animals. She picks up a chicken and sits it on her lap. "How was your day, girlie?" she coos, picking at the mites between the feathers.
