"A bit touchy about it aren't we? If you're willing to burn the contents to protect it, that means it's something valuable but not overly so. Money, then. Next question would be where it came from but I have a feeling you aren't going to cooperate on that front, pinky." At least he agreed with her assessment on his pyrokinesis, though the slight distraction didn't really achieve her primary goal. "So you know about the ol' hit em where it hurts huh? How about this one!" With a sudden push Amara caused the pair to tumble off the boardwalk, successfully dragging them both down and hitting the sandy ground below. Her wrist was freed as the impact broke the two apart, the mafioso rolling away and preparing another set of attacks. "OK I will!" She responded cheerily to his challenge, crouching as the fireballs came near... and simply jumping high enough up into the air as seven of them crashed and spluttered out against the sand.
The final ball had singed her shirt a bit, and with a quick realization, she noticed it had actually alighted into pink flame. Plummeting back down to the ground, the Saiyan rolled through the sand in a smooth motion to extinguish the fire before it spread. "Alright so maybe you're starting to get the upper hand here," Amara rushed him mid-sentence, feinting a heavy punch to the man's abdomen before her other hand suddenly shot forward, attempting to spray his eyes with a clump of sand she'd grabbed during her previous roll. Afterward, the woman would follow up with a side-kick, trying to knock him closer towards the edge of the water nearby.
The woman correctly guesses that the briefcase was filled with zeni, but it matters little as to whether or not she knows. Soon, he'll be out of here with his case and she'll either be beaten and broken, or worse. It'll serve as a sign not to mess with the Dirty Snakes. "Of course I'm not willing to cooperate after what you've pulled," Derry shouts back at the stranger, still preparing for her next attack, "At first I was having a bit of fun with this scuffle, but you just keep on running your mouth."
Once the two landed on the beach and Derry unleashes his fireballs, the woman jumps over almost every single one, with a lone ball catching her shirt. As the fire was spreading, she rolls around on the ground to put it out while Derry audibly laughs. "Ah, now I'm having fun once again. See? It isn't so hard to make this entertaining. Just shut up and fight, as it should be." Once again, the woman moves in to attack the crime boss, and appears to be looking for a punch right into his abdomen. Derry moves his arms to intercept, but the woman pulls back and instead throws some sand into the gangster's eyes. He grabs onto his face, stumbling around while shouting about all the sand in his eyes before he receives a kick to his side and is sent towards the nearby ocean.
His hands touch the water, and he immediately pulls away. He conjure up a fireball in that hand and instantly evaporates it. He gets back up onto his feet and continues wiping out all of the sand in his eyes before smirking once again. "Tell me this: Why don't you bother with your own ki blasts, or magic, or whatnot? Do you not have something like that? Because if so..." After clearing out all of the sand in his eyes, he opens them up, but instead of his normal brown eyes, they are instead filled with pink flames. "You need to learn your place." He launches forward at incredible speeds, tossing the fireball from earlier at the woman before attempting to sweep her off of her feet. However, he plans to follow his attack up by kicking upwards if she attempts to fly again.
Activated Heating Up, doubling Derry's power level up to 10,000
"Well forgive me for trying to keep it lively. I've had my fair share of silent matches but considering how easy it's been so far to get you fired up I figured I'd take the chance." Once Derry had finally landed a solid hit he started to gloat a bit, interrupted by Amara's sudden dash forward as the Earthling fell hook line and sinker for her ploy. Blinding him with the spray of sand, the follow-up kick sent the gangster stumbling towards the ocean, not quite falling in but still soaking him a bit. "I like the challenge," She lied smoothly. "I won't need any fancy Ki attacks to kick your fiery ass."
Truth be told fighting without it was a massive disadvantage, hence her constant attempts to land more... cheap shots. Amara was still not a fan of resorting to such tactics - after all, they went against a decade of ingrained training to fight like a warrior. Yet she couldn't really afford to risk her neck right now over her pride as a fighter. Whatever worked worked, even if the slimy methods made Amara hate herself just a bit. Amara sensed a sudden spike in Derry's power as it doubled, her own inner Ki roaring to life as she matched the man's sudden transformation in time to literally swat the oncoming fireball away, shaking her hand a bit from the excess heat.
Derry's sweep was dodged with a hop, which unfortunately still led to her getting a solid bash across the chest from the premeditated kick, tumbling back a bit in the sand and grunting in slight pain. If he wanted a super-serious bloody battle, the stick in the mud could have it. Whilst down in the sand, Amara's hand curled around something hard and jagged. A rock, to be exact. Flipping to her feet, the Saiyan suddenly chucked the stone with as much force as she could muster straight for the gangster's nogging, following up with a rushing punch aimed low at his stomach.
Apparently, the woman states that she doesn't need any sort of fancy ki to take Derry one, which momentarily stuns Derry. Does this woman honestly believe that she could beat him without any sort of ki whatsoever? Perhaps she has a screw loose inside of her head, or maybe it's just denial at the fact that she can't win. Derry was done laughing, however. This woman has been getting on his nerves for far too long at this point, and it's time that he ends things and goes back to HQ.
Derry goes in for his sweep attack, and even though the stranger as able to hop over him, she wasn't expecting him to make a follow up attack. His foot landed square onto her chest, knocking her back away from the crime boss. Her energy must be getting close to running completely dry, so it's time to end it all. Derry walks towards the woman, but she was coming up with her own plan of attack. She grabs a rock from the ground and tosses it towards Derry's head. The rock lands square onto his head, but it had little effect on him as he was completely focused on the stranger in front of him. She rushes towards him and attempts to land a punch to the gut. "As predictable as ever, woman," Derry states as he reaches out with his right hand and grabs onto the stranger's wrist before it could make contact. The palm of his hand begins to heat up and burn her skin while his left hand conjures up another fireball. "Would you like to rephrase what you said earlier?" Derry coldly asks as he moves the fireball closer to her face, "Stand down, and I will consider letting you live."
"Ah so maybe I should've taken the hint when that thing bounced off your dome like a basketball, huh." He successfully intercepted her attack, palm heating up vigorously. She might not have been able to physically mold Ki into attacks but that didn't mean her body was any less empowered. Her flesh didn't burn immediately, fighting back against the heat violently as Amara gave the man a wide grin even from her disadvantageous position. "Rephrase? Which one are you referring to, pinky? Was it the 'fuck you' part?" She refused to back down to some two-bit showman with a few flames on Earth. She may not be able to manifest her own Ki but if this guy thought she was helpless without it? "Hows about you swallow some sand!?" Amara reared her fist back to deliver a powerful strike, feeling a sudden explosive surge of energy coursing through herself. A fraction before impact, the very veins on her arm danced alight with a silverish-blue Ki.
"Hey wait-" Hit or block, a sudden bright explosion would engulf the two fighters as Amara's pent-up Ki spilled over all at once in her time of need. The white-hot energy would blow the Saiyan back a few yards away, skidding across the beach until she came to a rough stop against a signpost. "Ow, FUCK, that hurt..." Signed and a bit battered, Amara would stand on shaky legs to search for the gangster. Due to where he'd been standing, if Derry had been caught in the blast he'd likely be propelled straight into the ocean unexpectedly. "...Is he going to drown?" While the human may have been prepared to kill her, Amara didn't actually want him dead. "I should help maybe- OH MY GOD I JUST..." As if struck by a sudden realization, Amara only now connected that the explosion was from her. In excitement the woman tried to fire off a regular blast... only for nothing to happen. "Ah fuck, don't blue ball me now..."
With a soured expression, she ambled closer to the water, peering out over it. "Hey! Pink guy! Now that we're done throwing hands, you know of some geezer by Yangcong? I got in contact with him not too long ago."
Amara enters Frustration for a new PL of 10,000! Additionally, a LARGE chunk of Ki spills out all at once, creating a big-ass explosion!
Even in the face of death, the woman still keeps making quip after quip. Perhaps she might think of this as some sort of game, but Derry at his point is very much considering ending here right here and now. It'll make his life easier, that's for sure. As Derry was expecting, the woman wasn't going to go down without a fight, and attempts to strike him once again. Derry flicks his left hand to throw the fireball at the woman's face, but before her fist or his fireball could make contact, a sudden explosion of ki bursts forth from the woman, sending her tumbling across the beach and sending Derry straight into the ocean.
Now completely engulfed in water, he can't use his fire powers quite effectively, but he could still do something with them. Once he gets his bearings on where he's at, he sees that he's almost touching the bottom of the sea floor. His face is now contorted with fury as he aims both of his hands down at the sea floor and begins to create a stream of pink flames to propel him back to the surface. In the span of a few seconds, the crime boss was now a few feet away from shore, completely soaked in seawater. Derry incerases his body heat to start evaporating all of the water on his as he slowly approaches the woman. He was done with this whole ordeal.
Derry creates a massive fireball in his hand and begins to shape it like a grenade, preparing to lob his Scorch Shot at the woman. Before he could toss it, however, the woman asks if he knew anything about Yangcong. Derry stood absolutely still for a moment, and the Scorch Shot he was preparing fizzles out. Derry's eyes return back to their normal shade of brown, and he asks, "How the hell do you know that name?"
Amara's eyes tracked the furious flaming pink human as he burst from the sea. The residue seawater sloughed off into columns of steam, creative use of his powers that was for sure. She watched, unimpressed as he stalked towards her with a firey attack ready right as she said Yangcong's name. "Yangcong? I guess to you lot he'd be... Viper or something inane like that. We got a history running way back. Or more accurately, he was well acquainted with my father." She was a bit more serious now, hands straying to her pockets as the Saiyan looked around. Now that the fight was over Amara had no real reason to irritate the guy anymore, and in fact, if she wished to end up hiring them as the original plan went it'd be better to get on his good side. "Sorry a bit about that, by the by. I got bored and you were an actual challenge to face instead of most of these boring ass people." Her power slipped away, the woman sighing as her body relaxed a bit in the cool night air. "If the rest of your crew is as skilled as you, then consider this test a roaring success. I'd like to hire you for something."
The woman even knows about Yangcong's codename, Viper, which certainly raises Derry's interest in her. Apparently, the two of them have some history between each other, especially since he's been close friends with the woman's father. "Close friends... You're not talking about Garrick, are you? You're his daughter?" While Derry wasn't entirely familiar with the whole situation between Yangcong and Garrick, he's definitely done a bit of research on the topic. "Huh, well I guess it is a small world after all. Who knew that Yangcong would be friends with a brat like you?" Despite the fact that the two have stopped fighting, Derry wasn't exactly going to pretend those last few minutes didn't actually happen.
She apologizes and explains that she was kinda bored with all of the other humans being rather weak in comparison to Derry. The woman also talks about potentially hiring Derry and his crew, to which Derry asks, "Oh yeah? What for? Don't think I've forgotten about this, lady, but I'd be a damn fool to turn down a job offer." Was this yet another one of Yangcong's wild goose chases that he wants the crew to get on? Time after time, Yangcong has been dragging him along for his hunts on anything tuffle related. At first, he didn't mind so much, but now that his little scavenger hunts have become more and more rampant, it was starting to get on his nerves. "Plus, whatever it is you're requestin', it's probably gonna take quite a lot of zeni." That, or Derry could just take this out of Yangcong's paycheck depending on what this woman wants.
"Huh? No. Yangcong worked as an army spy. My dad's a corporal in the intel network still," And if the man had given Derry any reason to think otherwise, Amara would personally strangle him given the next chance. "And who knew he'd be associated with a fuddy-duddy like you." She deadpanned, unsure of how exactly people could tolerate being around a hyper-serious guy like this all the time. "Aye look I know everything is about business and serious stuff and whatnot, but our differences in that regard shouldn't make it impossible to reach an arrangement." Her original plan had been to send the crew on a detective spree as well, but with Yangcong already investigating it personally and now with Gladiator on it as well, she saw no need.
"All I'm asking is that you... vet the cities and skies that you can of certain Saiyans. Here." She fished a capsule out from her pant pocket, clicking the top and tossing it over to the mafioso. Once fully unveiled Derry would find himself holding a grainy photo, focused on the shoulder of a Saiyan with a symbol etched to his armor. "Those clowns. You see em, you kill em. If you can make it appear like not just hit jobs either, that'd be an added bonus. As for payment, I got some upfront and then additional bonuses for every intact genuine piece of armor with that symbol on it you can show to me. Fakes or duplicates don't count."
"Not friends, eh?" Derry mutters as he rubs his chin. Yangcong talks about the man quite frequently and even looks up to him. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Yangcong himself isn't a full blooded saiyan? "I'd think otherwise considering how he likes to talk about him every now and them." The woman once again makes a bit of a jab at Derry, sarcastically calling him a 'fuddy-duddy.' "To be perfectly honest, you're the one who pissed me off. Give it some time, and maybe you'll get to see what I'm normally like." Derry has always been rather casual around his fellow Dirty Snakes and was only truly serious when he needs to be. It just so happens that he needs to play things seriously quite often considering his role as their boss. "I'm always open for business so long as you've got the cash. If you don't have any, you could consider talking to Yangcong and I can take it out of his paycheck."
The woman requests that he searches through the city to look for some saiyans, then tosses him a capsule. He grabs onto it and it erupts in his hand, revealing a somewhat mangled photo showing a saiyan with some sort of strange marking on their armor. She asks Derry to kill every single one that they find and she'll be able to pay, both upfront and from pieces of intact armor. "Ah, you must have some deep pockets then, miss. Perhaps I don't have to take anything out of Yangcong's paycheck after all." Derry jokes as he stuffs the photo into his pants pocket, now mostly dry at this point. "I'm sure Kon would love a job like this one. Also, you must've gotten yourself into some deep shit if these kinds of guys are after you. So, whose house did you blow up? Whose fortune did you burn down? Does it have something to do with the fact that I don't see a tail on you?" That fact was in Derry's mind for quite some time. If she is the daughter of this Garrick, then that means she too is a saiyan and should have one. Maybe she just lost it, and that's that.
"Yeah, I guess. Though on a serious note you could really stand to not lose your temper so easily. Had I actually been some sort of whack vigilante with regular powers..." Though it went unsaid, the statement was clear enough: 'You would've been caught'. "Still though, even if you weren't the biggest fan I appreciate the practice. Your powers are unique - strong enough to match traditional Ki yet seemingly different. Is it natural or some sort of experiment?" Probably prying a bit too much, but Derry's powers were genuinely fascinating. Amara hadn't really seen someone not rely on Ki before to fight. And fair enough Derry had turned around to probe a bit deeper into her own affairs into just why she was getting hunted in the first place. "Let's just say that I've reason to believe it's some political bullshit that had me involved for some stupid reason as a final loose end. I don't know who they are or what exactly they want besides my head, so it's a bit hard to formulate a proper counter. Truthfully it was probably connected to Garrick's murder a decade prior, but she'd already gone through with her lie before. "Any issues with technical mass assassination or will your associates be fine with it?"
"As if it would be that easy taking me down. There's more to it than just my own power. Trust me, anyone who comes after me will find that they'll get more than what they've bargained for." Derry was referring to the fact that he is, of course, the boss of the Dirty Snakes, not to mention that he's got a decent chunk of the cops under his own thumb. Even if he was imprisoned, it wouldn't take very long for him to be busted out. The real problem, however, was going public. Just like that demon from the alleyway, the woman asks for the origins of Derry's fire powers, and all he can say is, "Can't say. One day when I was a kid, I didn't have them, then bam, I did. I don't know anything else about it. It just... happened. Maybe it has something to do with my family, but I never knew 'em." The woman admits that she doesn't exactly have that great of an idea as to why she's being hunted down, to which the crime boss assumes, "Probably has somethin' to do with bein' the kid of Garrick or somethin' like that. Oh well, I could always bug Yangcong about it and see if he knows anythin'. Oh, and don't you worry about this whole 'mass assassination' thing. As long as you keep the money rollin' in, I'm positive my employees would thoroughly enjoy taking 'em out."
"Yeah yeah, I know. Connections and lackeys and whatnot, and I'm sure a grown man can take care of himself. Just uh... be careful when you go up against these guys." Amara's brow furrowed, voice taking on a genuine tinge of concern. "And I don't mean that in a heartfelt or sappy bullshit way. I mean it as in they ALSO have connections and lackeys. A lot of them, if I were to guess right. It wouldn't do either of us any favors if you ended up getting taken out early on." Hopefully he'd get the message. It wasn't a demand or stipulation, but Amara couldn't afford to let these assassins have any leeway. To also hear that Derry either didn't have an explanation for his powers (or didn't want to tell her) was a bit disappointing, but definitely not the strangest thing she'd ever heard. "As long as you keep such information to yourself while working I don't mind you knowing it for now. The only reason it has to be kept secret in the first place is the very same issue I'm hiring you to solve." Gangs tended to be dime-a-dozen backstabbing scumbags but hopefully with her connection Yangcong and offer of lucrative pay it wouldn't come to that. "Anything else we need to discuss or can we call this impromptu meeting a wrap?"
It's strange seeing the woman give at least some care about Derry of all people, as little as it might be. "Trust me, I wouldn't be nearly as confident if I didn't think we wouldn't be fine against them. I'll keep your advice in mind, miss. 'Preciate the concern." The woman continued on and requests that he makes sure that he keeps her relationship with Garrick a secret since that's likely why these assassins and mercenaries are after her in the first place. Derry shrugs and replies, "Who am I gonna tell? Yangcong already knows, and only anyone else in this sort of mission should probably know, though I'm not entirely sure if I can trust Kon with that sort of information. I'll probably keep that piece away from her just to be safe." From what he could tell, the woman now wishes to wrap things up and head out, and Derry starts walking away. "Love it when you're right, miss. I've got a long night ahead of me, and I've still got my case to pick up. Say, I never did get your name."
Regardless of whether or not she will tell him her name, Derry could probably just ask Yangcong about it, though it would be nice if she would say it herself. Whether or not she says it, Derry makes his way back up to Sparking World. He gives the place a quick look around before spotting the briefcase that he kicked away earlier in their little scuffle. He punches in the code and busts it open just to make sure everything was there, and sure enough, his millions of zeni was still intact. The crime boss smirks to himself as he locks the case back up and moves towards the Sparking World exit, somewhat satisfied with this rather interesting night.
"Right. Just don't die and I'll know my warning had at least some effect," Amara joked dryly. Derry continued to say that there weren't many people he could tell that it'd matter with. "It was more so just don't go shouting it from the rooftops. I think Yangcong was probing into it despite his name also being a well-known factor to it all, but I can't stop the old fool if he wants to risk his neck for it. Hopefully giving the rest of your crew something interesting to do on the sidelines will help." The negotiations ended with Derry heading back towards the boardwalk, asking for her name. "...Yangcong would probably tell you anyway. My actual name is Amara, but while on Earth I go by Leriac." She watched from a distance as the crime bost grabbed his case, checking its contents - probably money - before strolling off towards the park's exit like it was just another night in Sparking World. "I probably shouldn't tell either Dion or Carro about this." Especially Dion. He seemed to be the upstanding righteous man of the law type. They'd probably disapprove of her using killers and crooks to assist in a matter like this, but such decisions weren't up to them. Amara sighed, turning away to fly off into the night back towards her temporary home.
