Gira had been home less than a day, and she was already settling back into her old life. School had begun again, and she couldn't afford to miss more than she had already. However, it was rather strange going to class after everything she witnessed on Namek. For the first time in her life, she truly felt different. She had experienced things many of these kids couldn't even dream of. She had lost friends, taken horrible injuries, joined a clan of aliens, and even had a battle with a legendary Super Saiyan. After all of that, the banality of math class gave her tonal whiplash. It was a welcome change though; to just be able to relax for once and act normal. Gira didn't realize how much she missed home until she came back. She intended to make the most of her time here before she had to return to Namek. Her week was already full with dinner with her mom, movie and game nights with her best friend, Kaci, and a trip to Sparking World with Kaci, her boyfriend, and both of their moms! Kaci hinted that one of her boyfriend's friends would be coming along to make it a double date, but Gira hoped she was only joking. The young warrior smiled, thinking of the good times that lay ahead. It was nice to look forward to doing something fun. It was funny; fighting used to be a lot more fun to her. But here lately, the constant combat was taking its toll both mentally and physically. Gira was snapped out of her daydream by the bell; the final bell of the day. Her teacher tried to shout out a reminder to the class about exams on Monday, but everyone was too concerned with getting their weekend started to care. Gira packed her books and stood from her seat, straightening the skirt on her school uniform before heading out with the class. It wasn't long before Kaci had tracked her down.
"Gira! You ready for game night tonight?" The blond shot her friend a huge grin. Gira waved to Kaci, giving her a nod in affirmation.
"Heck yeah. I have this one game that has drop in co-op. You can help me beat this boss i've been stuck on." She adjusted her bag, dropping it down to only be slung over her left shoulder.
"Only if we can play my game afterwards." Kaci reminded her, nudging the Saiyan playfully.
"Is it two player?" Gira asked with a tilt of her head.
"No, but it's turn based. So we can split the decision making. That's kinda like two player."
"Alright, deal." Gira smiled with a nod as the two exited the school building.
"See ya at your place, then!" The two girls waved goodbye as they went their separate ways. The two have lived across the street from each other from the time they were born, but Gira wasn't heading home yet. She had to pick up refreshments suitable for an all-night gaming binge. However, before she even got halfway to her favorite snack shop, an event occurred that was simultaneously exciting and annoying. While passing by another shop, the sound of breaking glass caught her attention. She noticed that a group of seven thugs were menacing an old man, trying to extort protection money from him by wrecking his shop. The sound she heard was one of the thugs putting a baseball bat through the glass storefront. Instinctively, Gira went for her insta-change watch only to realize that she had left it in her room. She didn't expect to be fighting crime today. However, she couldn't just let these men do what they pleased. It looked like The Great Saiyagirl had the day off. Gira was going to be saving the day this time. Fearlessly approaching the group from behind, Gira tried at first to defuse the situation with diplomacy.
"Hey! Leave him alone! He's just an old man, he can't even fight back!" A thug with sunglasses turned and looked at her with a confused expression.
"Best keep your nose out of this, little girl. Run on home before something bad happens. You don't wanna get involved, trust me." The man lifted up his shirt to reveal a silver revolver. Gira chuckled in response.
"See, thing is... I do." In an instant, she had approached the thug in sunglasses and delivered a light blow to the gut before moving back to her original position. To the thugs and the store owner, the girl didn't even move from her spot. The thug's eyes bulged as he gurgled and held onto his stomach, taking two staggering steps back before falling unconscious at the old man's feet. "Don't worry. He's just out cold. But you better take him and leave before the same happens to you." The old man's fearful expression changed to one of awe as he tried to process what just happened. Another thug stepped forward, a mountain of a man wielding a tire iron.
"So, what, you're fast? Let's see how fast you are when I break your legs!" Before he could even try to make good on that threat, however, he had seemingly taken an invisible punch to the face, then the chest, sending him flying through the old man's shattered storefront. Then, seeing the position they were in, the other five thugs rushed the girl. Setting down her backpack, Gira moved quickly, delivering a blow to each of them, appearing as a white streak darting between them. The thugs hung in place for a moment before falling to the ground, unconscious. Looking back to the old man, Gira smiled.
"Sorry about your store. Did they hurt you?" The old man was about to answer, but quickly gasped, pointing behind her. Gira could then feel the cold steel of a revolver barrel pressed to the back of her head.
"Gotcha now, you little bitch." The thug sneered. It was the first thug, the one with sunglasses. Or, rather, he used to have sunglasses. Now, it was more like a sunmonocle, with only one of the two eyeglass pieces in.
"I don't wanna hurt you. You better give up." Gira still tried to convince the man to give up on his course of action.
"No way. I'm gonna enjoy this..." He prepared to pull the trigger.
