CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: (CURRENT Pfp is Nicholas D. Wolfwood from Trigun Stampede) || Outwardly, Palmer is a bland individual. Fair skin, black eyes, slightly messy black hair. His choice of conservative clothing - long sleeves, high socks, and collared shirts not only blend well with his job but do well to conceal the myriad patchwork of scars and burns that pepper his body from a lifetime of abuse. He stands at a reasonable six foot even with a nondescript build. In every sense of the word, his appearance is unremarkable.
BACKGROUND -
Murphy's law.
Palmer's life can be summed up as a neverending streak of bad luck from when he was born until now. An unwanted accident by two substance-stricken parents, he was abused both physically and mentally through his early years. Attempts to make friends or establish a norm were dashed by constant moves, his awkward nature and horribly kept appearance - rare was the chance to shower or get new clothes, and active efforts by his mother and father to keep his miserable life hidden from the government.
He hit the streets at fifteen. Finding jobs willing to illegally hire him under the table was hard. Palmer worked dirty, lonely positions just to scrape by. Despite everything he'd been through, the boy was kept stable by a single ideal: justice. He wanted to become a police officer. The best the world had ever seen. Palmer was brilliant but in his own way - no school or authority figure would ever look at him and claim that he'd go far. Antisocial tendencies and an awkward way of expressing his ideas made many look down on him as stupid or slow.
At eighteen, he finally got what he wanted. A small-time beat cop in East City, one of the worst, crime-riddled places on Planet Earth. It took six grueling years to claw his way marginally up the ladder, most of his hard, dedicated work going unnoticed in favor of corrupt, slimy cops who bent the rules and found new ways to smokescreen Palmer's achievements. It was with great reluctance that the commissioner appointed him as a detective.
That same idea of justice - that good things will eventually happen to good beings - is what fuels him. What causes Palmer to get out of bed in the morning. To this day he is embracing his role as an unappreciated, unloved street detective.
