~Village Theme~ |
The day was calm, the sun shone bright overhead as a soft wind brushed across the grassy plains near Aru village. Bright white clouds dotted the sky happily, moving at a steady pace as autumns crisp touch pair with the sun to make an otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Between the chirping of the birds, and sounds of children laughing as they ran around the little village playing, it seemed as though nothing in the world could be more peaceful. At odds with this peace however, was one little girl who taken to holding herself up in an empty barn shed.
A tad off from the center of the village, positioned closer to the village's east edge by the animal pens was a rather large barn, and directly beside it was a small red shack that had previously been used to store tools. For the time being, the shack was slightly renovated to accommodate a rather small guest, a guest that the owner of the barn guessed must have run away from home. As kind as the old owner was however, rather than send the girl on her way, he allowed her to use the shed as her home away from home.
Though the door to the shed was closed, a noise could be heard through the open, windowless window-frame. It was faint, but it if one listened closely, one could clearly make out the subtle sobs of a young girl, along with the clinks and clanks of scratching metal. The window-frame was roughly five feet up from the outside, high enough that from within that girl wasn't able to even reach it to look out if she even wanted to, but that gave her a bit of comfort as she thought that none would attempt to peer within either.
Occasionally, the sound of a low hum would pick up from the shed, as if a machine was starting up, only for the sound to fade quickly and be replaced with the frustrated groans and grumbles of the girl within. Other than this singular shed and the happenings within however, the village was utterly at peace. Before long, the playing children would happen upon the shed, their curiosity getting the best of them as it often did with children. A few knocks would sound, before one of the children called out to the girl within.
"Heeeeey! Don'cha wan come play!?" The child would yell, a boy likely no older than six or seven, accompanied by two other boys and two girls of similar ages.
The children would receive no response from the girl within, but as curious as they were, they would chose to remain by the sheds door, hoping the girl would come out of her own accord.
