In the distant reaches of the northern cosmos, on the lush and enigmatic planet Namek, a notorious saiyan space pirate known as Kabe ruled with an iron fist. His reputation preceded him like a shadow across the stars, striking fear into the hearts of those who dared to cross his path. Clad in battle-worn armor and armed with his deadly saiyan prowess, Kabe was a force to be reckoned with, and his crew of misfit aliens stood loyal to their charismatic leader. Except, that wasn't quite true. For all his infamy and his reputation for plunder and crime, his time on Namek had thus far been quite an agreeable one.
With Zhalla on a truce, no bounty hunters worth his salt had come out looking for him, his brutal reputation for taking them out enough of a ward to keep them at bay. And with his crew by his side, not a wink or a whisper of his past outside of Zhalla had crept out from the cranny to haunt him. That is until whispers began to circulate among Kabe's crew. Rumors had reached their ears of another infamous pirate hailing from the far reaches of the eastern galaxy.
Jango. They had been... involved once. If you could even call it that. A tangle gone awry nearly eight or so years ago when Kabe was fifteen and running away from the responsibilities of leading his crew after Mayen's death. But it worried him to know that another infamous pirate, and a notorious lone wolf at that, was skulking about on the peaceful planet. Kabe wondered what had brought the cerealian this far away from their corner of the universe, and he collected what little he could from the crewmen who'd seen her. Tensions grew high among the crew as they wondered whether this meeting would bring conflict or cooperation, for in the treacherous world of space piracy, alliances were as fleeting as stardust.
Kabe... wasn't sure if he should get involved in whatever she was planning. Namek had been good to him. Any major crime or act of piracy was probably the sort of thing he'd deem the people undeserving of... but in the same breath, there was a pull to it. The taste of stolen fruit, the jingle of pocketed coin, it rang in his mind like a siren signalling him through the fog and back on course.
He'd just check it out. He wasn't going to do anything stupid, he'd promised— well, not in so many words, but he had at least implied to Zhalla and Nero that he'd be on his best behaviour while on the planet they called home. He'd kept his crew mostly in check, even showed up to help during a crisis or two, and kept his crimes mostly to the sort that word off more problematic ones, like stealing from smugglers and poachers. He wasn't going to do anything bad, even if Jango might offer him some kind of high-stakes, exciting, risky but rewarding job. He... he could be responsible. He assured himself of it, over and over, not quite convincing himself as he left Bee behind, dropped from his ship and zipped down to Dend to take a look.
He didn't have to look far. There was a crooked establishment on the corner of Shell & Cargo avenue, the Cut O' Jib, where sailors, pirates and marauders liked to get into drunken brawls. While not everyone went there for drink, it was the kind of place that attracted pirates like flies. Kabe walked in, and scanned the crowd. He hoped he'd find Jango in here, and get himself into some trouble— wait, not trouble... he'd find out what she was up to.
