CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE:
BACKGROUND: An untampered flame is a perilous one.
Something that Jinichi was taught at a very early age.
A Konatsian child of halfblooded nature was something akin to that of a myth in the grand scheme of things. The Konatsians were an incredibly isolated people as is, so to imagine one conceiving a child with someone outside of their own kind was inconceivable to say the least.
At least that's what Jinichi had been told- he knew very little about his parents in the first place. He was too young to be aware of the carnage that had befallen them early on in his childhood.
His mother, from what he was told, had fallen victim to one of the more common Konatsian afflictions- that being an incredibly powerful malignant presence residing deep inside of his mother's very person. She had struggled with it all of her life and had sought out refuge and isolation within the confines of Earth's more welcoming community. What she instead found was companionship, and eventually love in the form of Jinichi's father- an Earthling mercenary who fell for the former even despite her inherently dangerous nature.
The two soon returned to Konats in hopes of getting aid in caring for Jinichi's mother, as her health and welfare continued to deteriorate despite both parents' best efforts in the contrary. Unfortunately, their endeavors were all for naught- as Jinichi's mother finally succumbed to the great evil lingering within, causing countless casualties that resulted in not only the death of Jinichi's father, but also her own demise as well. Her evil was one too dangerous to be kept alive, and in the midst of her untimely possession, the people of Konats saw it fit to put her down while they still could.
Thankfully, the youth was not sent out to live by his lonesome following the incident. Most of the people on Konats, specifically those who lived in the immediate area that his family had formerly occupied were compassionate enough to take pity on the orphaned young boy and were more than willing to try and undertake the raising of a half Earthling, half Konatsian child- even if they weren't quite aware of the implications that came with such an undertaking. It didn't take long, however, before Jinichi found himself bouncing from foster home to foster home- due directly in part to him having inherited a portion of his mother's former, magical illness.
A burning, inner flame that seemed too hot to contain.
And so, eventually, Jinichi found himself being shipped off back to where his father had hailed from- Earth. As a barely teenaged youth, Jinichi found it even more difficult to find those willing to take him in, even just for a little while, and so it seemed his destiny was to bounce around from home to home for an eternity's worth of time.
Thankfully, however, fate appeared to have other plans- as in the midst of his wanderings, Jinichi was eventually taken in by quite a peculiar set of people.
The individuals who took him were a highly-esteemed and even more mysterious clan of Ki-inclined Shinobi, the Nakamura family. An elite, yet secretive family of shinobi known for their reclusive nature due to their location within the Kaiju Jungle and their unrivaled skill within their perfect meld of Ki-based martial art and swordsmanship. Many individuals lucky enough to have heard of the clan through whispers of rumor and hearsay upon struggle their entire lives for even a chance at audience with one of the members of the family, but Jinichi's potential (and perhaps his sorry state of affairs) appeared to win him over into the good graces of the family immediately.
In any case, Jinichi was essentially granted a second chance at life- given an opportunity most other people spent their entire lives laboring to have a sliver of.
Although, one could say such opportunity also presented itself as a double-edged sword- while innately promising due to his Konatsian blood and the sheer ferocity of the monstrous flame hidden deep inside of him that allowed for him to utilize fire-based attacks in tandem with his control of Ki, Jinichi was completely inept in the field of battle. Essentially starting at square one while the rest of his colleagues were already leagues ahead of him in raw skill and talent. Of course, the Nakamura family continued to help him persevere through their teachings, but it was a long and lengthy process- one that many of his fellow students did not share any sympathy for.
In fact, many of his colleagues looked down upon him for his perceived privilege and clearly observable uselessness. Facing both ridicule and venomous criticism day after day as his skill remained at a crawling pace of progression. It was enough to force the young boy into self-imposed isolation- not wanting to bother anyone, especially those who had chosen to take him in, with his mere existence.
Even so, out of a cultivated love for the ever curious and hardworking heart that remained underneath the now heavy haze of nervousness, anxiousness, and dismay, the Nakamuras continued to push Jinichi to his limits, even when he begged them not to- and while his artificially created quiet nature only seemed to worsen with age, his skill and proficiency with the blade did not.
Quite the contrary. Eventually, Jinichi reached the top of his generation's class, and while it had taken him much longer than any other recorded member of the Nakamura clan, his ability was undeniable when put to the test. He had finally made his adoptive family proud- or, at least, he had believed so.
Still, the harsh beratements of his belittlers continued, a great amount of his fellow shinobi finding it abhorrent that the Nakamuras spent so long raising a ninja whose ability barely qualified rather than acted as the peak of the clan's teachings. In spite of all of this, however, Jinichi still ached for the approval he now believed he deserved, to simply be acknowledged for a job well done by others who shared the same passion for their shared craft.
Exasperated, and dejected, Jinichi was faced with the fact that he had fought to refuse for nearly all of his life- the fact that he would not be able to please everyone, and at many points, anyone, no matter what he did.
That simply meant, however, that he'd have to find the people that he could please!
And so, Jinichi held one final meeting with the Nakamura family proper, thanking them for all they had done for him in spite of the difficulty it caused them, and letting them know of his plans to travel abroad to greater, unknown lands. While his leave would not be permanent, his return would most certainly be indefinite, as the opportunity to finally find not only the recognition he so sought after, but also the companionship his lonely heart ached for, was one that the young man could not afford to let pass.
Surprisingly enough, the Nakamura family encouraged his decision, but not before one final heartfelt goodbye. One where he was gifted not only his tailormade clothes and specially forged swords, but also one final act of true love.
The honor of inheriting his adopted family's surname.
And, from that day forward, Jinichi Nakamura set out across the great unknown- looking not for fame, fortune, or any of that frivolous nonsense.
But that of which his heart truly craved.
