Mint rather liked that word. Fool. He liked to fling that word at anyone and everyone that annoyed him. That he could be so easily set off kilter was just more proof that Ticoga needed to justify that this challenge had to happen. When Mint fired his Death Beam - Ticoga reaches out, and grabs the beam - holding against its power until the attack simply fizzled out.
"Will you listen to yourself talk, for once?" Ticoga growls. "If Azoth was a fool, then he was not a good leader."
Ticoga leers at Mint.
"He didn't take steps, because he was too in love with his own rising legend, that he couldn't think that far ahead!" Ticoga continues. "Azoth failed because of his own lack of consideration - his ego got ahead and the better of him. I know - I knew Azoth before he became Emperor, and his favorite thing to do was threaten his peers."
Ticoga settles on the ground.
"And now, look at you. You're much the same - putting your ego and pride above everything else." Ticoga challenges. "You refused my offer to step aside for a peaceful transition of power after the Triumvirate fell to pieces. You accuse and blame failures on others, then take some of the blame, only to immediately take back your admittance and blame your peers again!"
Ticoga shakes his head, openly disgusted.
"You are so damned dead set on proving that might makes right, that you don't even think about what you are going to say! Four separate times in these last few minutes alone, you have contradicted yourself!" Ticoga admonishes Mint. "The Empire is already united, for Kai's sake! Four hundred planets! One thousand species! The only ones NOT UNIFIED, was your DAMNED TRIUMVIRATE!!"
Ticoga takes a breath.
"...Mint, this is your last chance." Ticoga warns. "I invite you one last time to step down from the throne peacefully. We are NOT barbarians. And I will NOT allow this Empire to be led by a self obsessed being, who only sees the Empire to be used as their personal play thing. There is more to leadership than just raw power - inspiration, empathy, the ability to admit when you are wrong and allow yourself to BE wrong. Your way of thinking gives you NO ROOM to grow as a Leader."
Ticoga clasps his hands behind his back.
"Under your leadership, the Empire faltered and fell behind. You have nothing to offer the Empire with your leadership." Ticoga dares to say. "I will steer this Empire true, and see to the prosperity of the Empire in its entirety. I invite you now to be a part of that - set aside this need to prove yourself through power alone. Take this opportunity to grow, to become greater than you are now."
Ticoga unclasps his hands, and offers one to Mint.
"Allow me to lead you, to show you another path. Allow me to show the galaxy what the Empire can truly become." Ticoga says sincerely. "We can be stronger, become stronger - not just for our own ego and pride, but for the people who look to our banner for their lives. Stand down, Mint. Step aside as Ruler, and join me with a new role. A Council that will advise me, and one another - a unity that the Triumvirate never possessed."
Ticoga's brow furrows.
"Please, Mint." he implores. "Do not make me have to break your pride and ego, just to make a point."
