Her evasion should’ve been expected. So far, Cato was rather wily. Slipping strikes with quick thinking seemed to be her go-to strategy, and here was no different. His elbow hit choppy soil, and the rain of energy around him pelted the dirt further. It took him a moment to come to the realization, and thankfully, it was a moment soon enough.
Vocado was no stranger to Destron. Having trudged through the poisoned streets of the Destron Metropolis before it’d been cleansed had prepared him for pockets of the stuff suddenly appearing from behind well-sealed doors or creeping from below basement hatches.
A deep breath, and suddenly a bubble of Ki swirled to life around his head. Tight to the skin, and well-packed with oxygen. It’d prevent him from inhaling the stuff, but it was just as deadly to the touch as it was to the lung.
It took some effort, but with an eruption of Ki from his lodged elbow and a well executed kip up, Vocado launched himself away from the rising cloud of Destron.
Clever, clever. You should try that on someone who wasn’t witness to Destron bombs dropping. It might actually work out for you.”
The bubble around his head vanished, save for a thin, almost silk-like sheen across his mouth and nose. In a pinch, it’d protect him should Cato try to knock him into a mountain, or stick his face in a puddle of purple muck.
”Maybe I ought to show you just how well I’m acquainted with the stuff.”
From his hand, he revealed something he’d scooped up from below: a Ki bubble, filled with a pocket of that Destron dirt. Rearing back, he tossed it like a baseball pitcher, launching it at Cato with an intense fervor! Only… It wasn’t Destron. The ruse was revealed when it popped, however it ended up doing so. It was a smoky dirt cloud, yes, but the Ki bubble had been manifested in such a way as to mask its color. A clever trick, and one he’d used a few times to fool upstart Tuffle scouts he’d run into in the past.
Vocado raced alongside the bubble as it traveled, arcing down to the left in an effort to catch Cato in what he’d surmised would be her most obvious flight path away from the danger. If he caught her, he’d aimed a knee for her chest, driving it deep into her in hopes that she’d be floored from the force.
