”I’m sure it’s nothing, but if you find anything interesting let me know. If nothing else, it’ll be a nice sightseeing opportunity.”
He snapped the folder closed and placed it away. Maybe those two could be greater assets than he imagined. With any luck, they could even rival the likes of Nasu. But only time would reveal an answer like that.
”I almost forgot you had Earthling blood. It’s been so long since that first day we met.” Part of him wondered how different things might have gone had they not met that day. She had proven herself quite the friend, even with her assistance of Lottus back in Hatchi.
Speaking of…
”Honestly? I’m not sure. I made sure to omit your allegiance in my reports, but any news was overshadowed by the whole… Yknow.” He made a few grand hand gestures, mostly to himself. ”Whether or not that means anything is up to you, but from what I’ve seen nobody has put up any wanted posters for you or anything. Might be to your benefit that he ended up making headlines the way that he did.”
In a world where Lottus hadn’t ascended, how differently would things have gone? Maybe he’d have lived that day, or maybe the political landscape would’ve fallen further into shambles. No use speculating, he supposed.
"I suppose there was some luck in it after all," she conceded. "Not a whole lot, but I suppose I'll take what I can get. It didn't sound like Amara had any desire to throw me into a prison cell when all was said and done."
Amara was another one she hadn't spoken to since everything happened, but she didn't expect to. If she wasn't the queen any longer, then that meant she probably didn't need to bother with placating powerful Saiyans that she was worried might rebel against her. She wouldn't blame her if she'd never heard from her again, either--she wasn't exactly doing anything to make her reign easier.
"I suppose that's another point--I'd better meet your King Taori at some point. I tried to before, but it didn't go as intended... but, that was right before he disappeared. Or after he disappeared. All I know is, he didn't show up to the throne room."
Cato turned her attention to her terminal, running a few quick calculations. If she made her stop at Earth to hunt down Vocado's supposed Grand Lookout, then she could probably make the trip back to Earth the same day--at least, if it was as easy to find as the name suggested it might be.
"I could be back on Plant in a few days," she said. "I can see about contacting you then, if you want."
”We’ll arrange a meeting soon, yes. Whenever you’re ready to get back into things, that is.”
Vocado wasn’t sure what exactly the King was up to right now. With the situation in Hatchi being what it was, he hadn’t gotten into contact with him for a bit. He wouldn’t suspect the worst, but with how few reports were coming from the city, he was concerned, to say the least.
”You don’t have to rush yourself. Get back here whenever you feel it’s time. I’ve got plenty of preparations to make, anyways; gears to grease, and all that. If things go smoothly, I predict we won’t be marching any troops for at least a few months regardless.”
”Of course… It wouldn’t hurt to see a friendly face around here. Just, yknow… When you’re on your way back, just let me know. Not like either of us are going anywhere, right? We’ve been through some serious hell already.”
His scouter buzzed. A meeting, or some other problem finally cropped up on his schedule. At least he had these few moments to himself. Sighing, he stood up and moved for the door.
"No, it sounds like I need to get back there sooner than later."
There was a note of distaste in her voice, but she knew she shouldn't put it off. Going to Earth was just a momentary delay, something to put off seeing Plant again after she had spent so long trudging about its depths. But, the world would move on without her if she wasn't careful, and she knew now more than ever that Plant would need her. "But, I do have a favour to ask of you. I plan to ascend to become a Super Saiyan myself. I heard I wasn't far off, from someone I met in the ruined city on Plant. It also seems my power is high enough that people might believe I'm one, even if I don't demonstrably transform. I plan to make good on whatever little faith people have had in my ability to do just that, but--"
She frowned. She forgot how much Vocado knew.
"It took me years to learn to control my oozaru power, and even then, I was never very good at it. My family, the Bloodbrand--well, they spent centuries deliberately letting themselves lose their minds to the rage that form provided. It was considered an honour to be overwhelmed by that... primal mind."
"I can't be sure that won't happen again," she started, carefully. "Whenever I push past that next barrier. So I want you to keep a scouter ready, and if you see me transform--send someone appropriately capable in-case I don't have control over what I become."
"Until next time," she said, before letting the signal fade.
