BACKGROUND: (Details on Planet Patis and Ga-Teoh's species here)
Ga-Teoh was born to Clan Tail, one of the four ruling clans of planet Patis. While he was born into the main house, as the youngest son he was never at risk of inheriting leadership of the clan; his being born with the “runt” mutation solidified that. That suited him just fine, however, as growing up he was never one to seek out any real responsibility. In spite of this, as he was trained alongside his siblings, it couldn’t be denied that he was a natural talent, quickly picking up techniques and fighting styles that others his age typically struggled with. When he was especially young there was even some talk of possibly ignoring the line of succession and naming him as the heir to the clan.
However, as he entered his teenage years, he plateaued. While his siblings continued to advance and in fact surpass him, he remained more or less at the same level. It wasn’t a lack of drive or skill, but rather a lack of focus and interest that prevented him from reaching the same heights. He really felt no motivation to continue to improve and rote mastery of the same techniques his family had been practicing for generations, and often chafed when his very traditionalist father tried to steer him away from new and improvisational ideas. It frustrated Teoh to no end that he was expected to grow in the way his father demanded, rather than being permitted to improvise and develop his own style of fighting.
The hostility between father and son began to really come to a head as Ga-Teoh grew increasingly interested in the offworlders who infrequently visited his home city, the boy beginning to regularly purchase “Outsider” technology, food, and even clothing. As Clan Tail was among the most tradiitonalist of the four ruling clans and often advocated for more xenophobic policies, this naturally deepened the rift between him and his family.
There was no major blowout that led to Teoh’s decision to lave Patis, no dramatic final straw or ultimatums. He just finally came to the decision that he’d never be able to reach his full potential on the small and stifling world. So he made an arrangement with his typical dealer of alien tech, that when they next left they’d smuggle Teoh of the planet as well. His surprising accomplices were his elder siblings, who saw how unhappy their little brother was and simply wanted him to find a place where he’d be able to flourish, their father be damned.
So, with a small amount of supplies from home, he hopped aboard a ship and set off to his new home, a small but increasingly notable planet called Earth, apparently quite renowned for it’s amazing food!
