It really was fascinating how very different places on this planet could be whilst remaining so close together. Just a few miles away was South City, and now Hayle found herself in the tight press of a tropical jungle. This wasn't, entirely, new to her. Her long life had taken her to many places and some jungles more dangerous than this. But when she had gotten talking to a chef in the city and learned that the majority of the most delicious fruits were not, in fact, cultivated in great farms of hydroponics facilities but were still foraged out by hand from this very forest... she had to see what could possibly have delayed the Earthling's efforts to tame their own land.
Thus far, she still didn't see it. Beyk, her red-feathered companion, was having a much tougher time than she was dealing with the unpleasant terrain. It was humid, certainly. Trees and plants pressed in all around, though most biting insects knew better than to even try to pierce her skin. The tall bird-man was not so fortunate, and continued to grumble and complain as she picked her way deeper and deeper into the heart of the jungle.

She tapped at the pink scouter over her eye. Still no truly significant power levels, though the tight press of so much life did dampen the range of the device considerably. "Still nothing over five hundred." She mused, "Do you suppose the Earthlings simply lack the desire to exploit this land? Hm. With the level of commerce on display I thought I was dealing with more kindred spirits."
Beyk snapped his beak shut over some particularly large insect and swallowed the unfortunate critter down greedily. That seemed to cheer him up. "It's hard to say, My Lady. This terrain would require a great deal of work to make commercially viable. Perhaps the trees wouldn't survive being farmed more traditionally-"
It is likely that Beyk would have kept going, but at that moment an enormous dinosaur broke through the treeline ahead of the pair. He immediately screams and jumps backwards, flapping wildly. Hayle herself is left to regard the beast as it bears down on her.
Behind her she can see a nest; eggs within. She purses her lips, and as mighty jaws come down to try and end her life, she raises her hand to meet the creature head-on. Grasping it firmly by the snout, she looks it in the eye.
"I understand that you are defending your family. If you calm down, you could yet survive." A brief pause, and then a sigh as the creature thrashes wildly. "Not sentient, I see. I suppose that was too much to hope for."
