CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: A gangly example of a Namekian, Band stands at an imposing 8’ with a defined musculature typical of the species’ fighters. What is decidedly atypical is his vivid purple skin, as though his blood was in a constant frenzy. A tall, spiked fin crests his scalp above his antennae, notably mohawk-like in appearance. The pads on his limbs and abdomen are a light red, lined by lavender. His wide eyes betray his immaturity, the irises an alarming lime shade, and bear a perpetual dark outline. He usually applies makeup to give himself short under-eye lashes.
His choice in apparel only further highlights his disconnection to Namekian tradition, dressing in a streetwear aesthetic. His favourite outfit features a deep red muscle shirt topped by a vest, dark athletic pants, as well as arm wrappings and battle armour boots that make him look tough.
BACKGROUND: Seventeen years ago, after a long journey through the reaches of space, a most unusual egg landed on Planet Brench. Marked by an alien language, it sat until two children found it. Curious, they prodded the shell until it cracked. And then, from a force inside, broke. A purple child spilled from within, frightening off the two who’d found it while it collected its bearings. Finding the egg from which he hatched, the newborn looked at the writing on its front. With knowledge he shouldn’t have had, he read the singular word and found its meaning immediately. Band. This was his name.
Band grew steadily, living in the wild for his first year. Every once in a while, the pair who’d found him would spot him from afar. He gnashed his teeth and spat to make them flee, but the curious boys would always find him once again. Such tedious company. However, with fewer options and an eventual offering of water… He’d come to learn their names were Holland and Besha.
When he could walk and talk, if falteringly, his new friends started to take him to civilized lands. Orphans themselves, they couldn’t let Band live lavishly, but he was nonetheless taken aback by the sights and sounds of the city. He came to have fun with his friends, and even made more! They got into no small amount of trouble together, but the quickly developing Namekian proved much tougher than expected and warded off any unfriendly faces.
In only a few years, Band towered over his crew of misfits. They rubbed off on him, forging a loyal but rough and tumble friend out of Band. Though an amateur, he found he enjoyed fighting, especially against those who thought themselves better than him. He even garnered a bit of a reputation for his strength and was occasionally hired out by those who had need of it.
However, as the years went on and his power steadily grew, Band began to feel a tug in the back of his mind. When his adrenaline was high and he was engaged in violence, he could hear a voice. Like an older version of himself, speaking from somewhere far away. It encouraged him to go further, to hit harder and never stop hitting. He caved once or twice, but it felt nothing like the brawling he usually enjoyed. The voice almost stripped him of control. Shutting it out was impossible, but he slowly learned to ignore its serpent’s tongue.
Slowly aging out of his old habits alongside his friends, Band started to turn towards more professional endeavours. Even if the thought made his skin crawl. Fighting was his best skill, enough that he’d been paid for it in the past. Though Brench didn’t offer the greatest opportunities, he knew a place that might. The icy heart of the Arcosian Empire, a world of rich bigwigs who didn’t like getting their hands dirty. Yeah, that would do.
