Perhaps a park would've been a more suitable choice to clear her mind.
Wet leaves and scattered branches cracked under her boots at she progressed through the dense woodland, each noise a short-lived distraction as the demon tried to collect her thoughts. Much had happened, at least in comparison to the stand-still her life had been in for the past decade or so. Sooner than expected, too.
So then why did she felt so unsure about it all?
Not that she missed any of it, neither being followed everywhere nor having to comply to the scribes' rules, no. Yet, she felt alone, and for the first time in what felt like forever, Bêl felt unnerved by it. And she loathed to admit it.
The clearing she soon reached was a welcome sight, what with the stuffy atmosphere of the woods. It was a small gap between the towering trees, now bathed in hues of orange and yellow as the sun was slowly setting down. And in the middle of it all, the woman looked like a ghost, an errant spirit slowly drifting away, without ever settling anywhere. Not unlike the winged creature that would soon flutter in her general direction.
A butterfly?
It was a forest after all, nothing out of the ordinary. But she had no penchant for entomology, and cared very little about the fauna or flora of the place. However, it was enough to distract her, even if only for a time.
Perhaps not the only thing.
« Are you looking for butterflies? » Her gaze didn't stray from the small invertebrate, deftly catching it between her gloved hands, careful not to crush it for now. « I'm afraid it's the only one. And it's mine now. »
In the unlikely event that whoever was there cared, she was going to have a little fun with it.
