The Trial of Peace Preliminaries - Kabe VS Nero

Guru of Namek.

Nero smiled, adjusting the collar of his coat. It wasn’t something that he had ever expected to be. In fact, prior to hearing Namek itself reach out to him, Nero would have thought someone like Tambo would have been the best fit for the position— but with the elderly Namekian far too absorbed in his Dargonsmithing work as of late, Nero supposed it wouldn’t have made much sense. The other option that Nero believed to be fitting for the position was Pankaa, and right now he was far too young and far too teenager-y even if he cared for Namek greatly.

With a sharp exhale, Nero exited the preparation area and made his way towards the specialized arena, taking in everything as the crowd more or less went ballistic at the sight of him. He wondered if anyone close to him was watching this one. Stepping onto the arena, Nero twirled his staff around for a bit of flair before holding it with his tail. His opponent was going to be an interesting one.

Kabe.

The other Saiyan spat out some impromptu pyrotechnics, to which Nero chuckled slightly, choosing to use telekinesis to both hold the effects with his will but also to whirl it around himself before adding some of his own power to it, launching it all upwards into a graceful sparkling blast of glittering blue and white fireworks; it was in a very specific shape, the symbol of Namek, the Ajisa surrounded by the strong ring.

With that small performance to get the crowd’s excitement going, Nero gave the announcer a nod. He knew the rules, but was appreciative of the reminder all the same. It wasn’t as though he needed to fly to fight anyway. Whether or not he was bound to the ground didn’t change Nero’s style, and that style was tricky.

Nero rolled his shoulders, settling into a sort of loose stance, but it was deceptive in a sense— locals in the crowd would recognize it as a high level stance practiced by the Warrior Clan. “It’s what I do, Kabe, you know that.” Nero smiled, of course he too was happy that Kay-Bee was now safe. “I wouldn’t want you to go easy on me anyway. Besides...” Nero immediately flicked a wrist, launching a lightning fast Masenko directed at Kabe’s legs. “I won’t be going easy on you either.”

Perceptive to Kabe’s movements, keenly hearing where he moved from and where he moved to, Nero gracefully twirled away from Kabe and over to where the Pirate Prince formerly stood. Now, Nero was standing right next to the collection of tiles he had lightly blasted apart. Taking note of that, Nero decided to maybe use it sometime later.

For now, he supposed Kabe would have fun with some banter. “Wizard breath? Hah! That’s a funny one.” Moments afterward, Kabe horked up two fancy axes from his enchanted gullet. It was always an interesting ability, and Kabe very much made it distinctly his— such a thing was akin to fighting a user of magic materialization, able to conjure up almost anything. It was exciting!

Kabe was definitely the type to try and mimic someone’s style. The fact that he tried to go with Zhalla’s gave Nero some amusement, given it was a style of fighting he knew incredibly well by now. “Oho! Taking inspiration from my fiance’s style, are you? You’ve got guts, Kabe!”


Flashing a toothy smile, energy sparked between Nero’s teeth. “Well! If it’s ‘Wizard breath’ that you want...” Nero kept up with Kabe’s movements, waiting for the right moment to counter, and it looked as though Nero decided to bite at each swing?! What a madman! Whatever it was, it seemed to be working— it seemed the energy that sparked between Nero’s teeth was actually a proper collection of energy! As the last swing came down, Nero let out a roar, shooting out a blast of said energy from his mouth. “That is some real wizard breath!” With the time he earned, Nero attempted to lift the pieces of cracked tile near him with telekinesis in order to toss them and their dust at Kabe’s face— but in all honesty Nero just assumed Kabe would eat it in the blink of an eye.

Nero grinned, Kabe had indeed heard him right, and it was pretty funny to see Kabe left so flabbergasted even if it was only for a short moment. ’Just do me one solid, and uh, don’t bring it up to Dion just yet. I’m still not entirely happy with him.’ Nero shot Kabe a quick little message of telepathy, of course Kabe would know why Nero was annoyed with Dion— maybe even understand, as it was Dion’s bone-headedness that got Kay-Bee cursed to begin with.

“Maybe, but you’re not the only one with fangs!” As Kabe dealt with being struck and ingesting the displaced bits of tiles, Nero let out an energetic wolf-like howl up into the air. “I ain’t Namek’s Warrior Wolf for nothing, you know~!”

Holding his fanged smile, Nero twirled his staff around behind him with telekinesis, eyes locked on Kabe, excited to see the next move he would make. The Pirate Prince launched forward, swinging his axes and baring his own fangs. Dual wielding weapons and teeth? Well, then, Nero knew how to respond! Semi-transparent ethereal arms erupted from Nero’s back. They matched his own arms in size and general features aside from being more beast-like in appearance.

Nero moved to use all four of his arms to hold back Kabe’s axe swings, and while that was a good call, some nicks and scratches got by his defense. Additionally, Nero opted to just try and straight up headbutt Kabe as he charged forward to prevent himself from being bitten! Thankfully, should things go south, Nero still had his staff to back himself up with!

“Whoo!” Nero tucked and rolled forward a bit before hopping back into a standing position as he fell back into a fighting stance. There was an obvious scuff on his forehead from clubbing Kabe’s own skull with it. “Clearly nobody has the same fighting instincts that I do!” Nero grinned. Kabe’s further remark did little to faze him, and it was otherwise clear that Kabe wasn’t actually being insulting. “What, the scar on my head didn’t give it away? Seriously man, come on!” Nero laughed, even as the ghastly tool was brandished in his direction. What the hell were old Saiyan surgeons thinking with that ridiculous thing? Clearly they weren’t thinking much at all!

“Where’d you even get that, it looks so stupid— Ahahahaha!” Kabe lunged forward once more, and Nero quickly steeled himself, energy shimmered through him in excess before it flashed outward, using this burst of energy, Nero slid right under Kabe, twirling back into an upright position behind him with a hand raised upwards. “Over here!” In an instant, a large ball of glittering blue energy burst to life in Nero’s hand, a holy magic ringing within it as searing white lines surged across it, there was definitely more to it than just raw power! “Masendan!” Nero roared, dropping the ball down upon Kabe!

At first, Nero wasn’t quite sure about what was going on, in truth, he was just having fun, and his smile showed that well enough. Plus, it felt nice to have the pressure of actually fighting to kick someone’s ass for real. “Yanno, Kabe, you’re a really interesting fighter!” Nero really had no other way to put it. How many other people did he know that hjorked up random stuff from some separate dimension in their gut? None, that’s how many!

Having swirled and ducked through Kabe’s attack, Nero brought down the Masendan upon Kabe, but the Pirate Prince was starting to get serious now, as his power shot up with a quick spark of gold. Kabe responded with a super hard kick, blasting the Masendan apart— but Nero was quick to react as well. He was a natural at using his power whenever he willed it, so in an instant response, Nero’s power rose as well; his fangs and nails becoming more pronounced and hair going more wild as a soft white aura began to flow off of him. In contrast to Kabe’s explosion of strength, Nero’s was a calm rush of power.

Nero caught Kabe’s boot with his hands with a solid thud. While it was a strong strike, most of its real power was used to destroy the Masendan. “Let’s see more of your tricks, Kabe! Bring it!” Nero tried to grip onto Kabe’s foot tightly and swing his ethereal magic arms at his legs while he flicked his tail, telekinetically commanding his staff to attack Kabe’s face!

Most people would recoil in horror at the sight of someone stuffing their arms down their throat to such an extent, but Nero was not most people, he found it really amusing, and unique. This sort of weird fighting style often brought a smile to his face— especially so since it was a friend exhibiting these quirks. “Seriously, where did you even get half of that??”

As for seeing a magic trick, Nero found himself intrigued, maybe Kabe had a potion of sticks to snakes in there somewhere? Who knows! Either way, Nero thought about how to proceed. There was something tricky that he could try and pull off, but it required Kabe acting in such a way that opened the opportunity— Nero had to bank on Kabe sucking up his weapon. Would he do that though?

Yes, actually. Kabe would try precisely that. Nero kept his telekinetic hold on his staff strong, imparting a bit of energy onto it in the time that he could, something that he could boost if he needed to. However, to try and make it seem like it wasn’t an intentional move, Nero snarled. “Okay dude, not cool! My dad made me that!” This statement was, of course, actually true, Nero’s adoptive dad made the staff he treasured. “That’s it, now I’m actually going to beat your ass, puke pocket!”

Nero’s aura swayed and swirled outward, whipping around him and brimming with divine magic. The creatures from Kabe’s bag of Manglepowder were met with the full force of Nero’s purifying power as he tried to revert them to what they should actually be. Whether or not that was just inert powder or actual creatures remained to be seen! Nero then dashed forwards at Kabe before ducking downwards, trying to do a swift leg sweep and trip the pirate prince!
