Riding high off of the elation gained from tying up loose ends and managing to build back some of the bridges that had been singed in light of his several month absence, Dion wasted little time in borrowing a ship from Nero and beelining it back to Earth.
He had one more thing left to do.
----
The time it took for Dion to travel from Namek back to terra firma surprised the Saiyan- in the fact that it took him nearly no time at all to find his ship breaking through the upper atmosphere of the blue jewel of the cosmos. Normally his travels were marked by hours upon hours of waiting anxiously for his ship to land safely upon a planet's awaiting surface, but, it was as though fate itself knew just how long Dion had been waiting for this moment in particular.
It was a whole lifetime coming, practically.
And Dion was going to be sure to make it count.
Papaya Island quickly filling the pod's vision, the ship touched down on a secluded piece of sandy white beach, isolated away from most public areas so that he didn't cause too much of a ruckus amongst the populace with his arrival. Hopping out with an extra little pep in his step, Dion made sure to lock up the thing properly (he didn't feel like wasting Nero's money by allowing some mook to steal the pod while he was gone) before cutting his way through the surrounding greenery and flora.
Soon enough, the young man was greeted by the sight of the rest of the beach proper. Taking a moment to breathe the salty, sea air in, the nostalgia nearly brought the bartender to tears. He was home. After all this time, he was home.
Looking across the crystal-clear waves, Dion walked the entire length of the seaside, not in any hurry to get to the restaurant he loved so dear. He wanted to savor the seconds that he was blessed with, stopping to "smell the roses" as the Earthlings said- for who knew when he'd get another chance to with how the cosmos worked?
Visions of Carro, Capper, and a certain childhood friend flashed through his mind as he made the final several hundred yard trek across the beach and back toward the mainland. Walking a path he had walked a thousand times before at least, Dion was soon greeted by the source of his life's happiest moments, craning his neck backward slightly to admire the awaiting Diono's in its entirety. From the outside, it looked spick and span- truly, Amara had done an amazing job with the upkeep while he was gone.
His heart fluttered for a few seconds at the mere thought of the woman. Clutching his chest slightly, Dion blinked in surprise, caught offguard by the fact that even now Amara sent his emotions into a worried flurry.
It'd definitely make what he wanted to do since they were kids much harder, but, he had waited long enough for this specific moment.
Taking another deep breath, Dion pushed open the doors to the establishment, the scent of well-polished oak and spruced up mahogany filling his nostrils as he breathed a sigh of relief. It was like he was staring into a time capsule- everything stayed right where he left it, even if there were a few notable changes here and there.
Still, it was still Diono's. It was still home.
And he was overjoyed to be within its walls.
Running a hand over tables as he passed them by, Dion wore a sentimental smile upon his face, heading straight for the bar counter he spent so many nights behind before something made him stop in his tracks.
Feeling around a bit, there was something that appeared to be missing.
Amara.
Raising his eyebrows in an inquisitive manner, Dion expanded his mind's eye to the rest of the building, to find, indeed, no Amara. She must have been out for some reason or another. He knew she was here though- the restaurant was kept in too good condition for her not to be, and she promised him that she'd be waiting for him in a message relayed to his specs as he was traveling across the stars to Namek.
This meant that he'd likely have a little bit of time before she came back. Looking at the wall, Dion noted the time on a clock that certainly had to have been added during the midst of his absence. It was currently four.
... Plenty of time to prepare.
Moving at a quickened pace behind the bar, Dion located the kitchen, a mischevous grin upon his face as he slowly closed the door behind him.
If he was going into battle, he might as well be prepared.
----
Wiping the outrageous amount of sweat that filled his brow, Dion stared upwards at one of the digital clocks that was set up in the kitchen he now occupied. The time read six, and as he put the finishing touches on the twos' shared meals, he quickly made his way back out to the dining room, choosing one of the booth seats as the bartender set both of the dishes down.
Sat next to each other, the meals seemed perfectly reflective of the two themselves. On one plate sat a near perfectly smoked pulled pork burger with an extra heaping helping of bacon stacked atop it's middle patty base, alongside a larger serving of garlic fries. On the other sat a medium-well steak with a side of mashed potatoes and various other assorted vegetables. The smell reaching throughout every corner of the restaurant it seemed, encompassing the entirety of the indoors with their fragrance.
Now, all that was left was to wait.
And he knew exactly where he'd be while he did.
Soon enough, Dion was sat behind the bar once more, eyes narrowed in content, but focused concentration as he went over inventory for old time's sake- smiling absentmindedly to himself as the time seemed to keep wasting away in his chosen pastime.
He had waited years for this chance.
He could wait another half hour or so.
He had one more thing left to do.
