CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: Beneath the surface Patchwork is a dense yet lightweight reinforced metal skeleton with a grey-silver sheen. Mostly, some of his parts like his right hand, left foot and upper left skull are rigged up patchjobs from old machine parts, giving him a rather messy look. A green pulsing reactor flows ki around his body, powering his motor and allowing him to harness its power.
Over the top he possesses as synthetic skin graft. Giving him the outward appearance of a pale young man with dark brown hair and yellow eyes. One of his humanoid eyes is missing however, revealing the yellow LED behind it. The scrap metal parts of him are also missing this synthetic skin, meaning his right hand, left foot and upper left face reveal the robotic parts beneath.
BACKGROUND: The early life of Patchwork is like a dream, various sequences of flashing lights and blurry imagery. Interspersed with slides of information and endless repeated messages that they cannot quite recall. They were being programmed for something, but for what exactly they do not know. Their creator didn't stick around long enough to even finish their creation, nevermind explain their purpose. Patchwork is not sure what happened to them, the only thing they are sure of is what happened after their activation.
A light, blinding at first, but their oculars soon adjusted to the change in brightness, bringing the levels down to within acceptable parameters. A woman's face, their creator? No, a brief scan showed that she held no links to his creation process. Merely a bystander, but then she spoke.
She asked if Patchwork was alright. Of course Patchwork at this point was not Patchwork, merely a project without designation. The woman introduced herself as Juniper. She explained that she intended to get him repaired. Patchwork wanted to say something, to ask her questions, but he soon found his voicebox was broken and all that came out was whines and the crackle of static, both of which upset the dog that Patch soon realised was nearby.
Juniper drove Patch from her small suburban home to a nearby mechanic. An elderly man who seemed unexperienced with Androids, but figured he had worked on enough automobiles that he could probably figure it out. It was many hours and a lot of spare parts, but Patch was soon in rudimentary working condition. His voice box now working, his tyrade of questions began.
Since that day Patch has been in the care of Juniper, and to repay his debt to her works as a dishwasher at her restaurant in South City. He is grateful to her, the closest thing he has known to a Mother. Yet he has always felt destined for more. His analytical mind soon struggled to withstand the everyday monotony of his work.
Patch grew fascinated with watching taped versions of old World Martial Arts Tournaments, using his programmed talents of combat analysis to log the strengths and weaknesses of the contenders and try to predict match outcomes. It also lead to him growing a fascination with combat and the nature of Ki.
His abilities would find their time to shine eventually when Juniper's restaurant underwent an attempted robbery by members of the Enchyladda Gang. A notorious group of Bikers who had been terrorising small businesses within South City. Going against any machine logic Patch leapt into action, defending his Mother and dispatching the bikers.
That night, Juniper and Patchwork had a long conversation. With Patchwork explaining that he needed to leave, to figure out what he was and what he was supposed to be. Though tearful Juniper explained that she supported him, and that he would always have a place to call home, no matter what.
