The Acidic Lagoon was one of the few places where one could find Saiba-beasts that weren't always trying to rip out each others throats. There was some sort of instinctual, mutual agreement that this place was valuable common ground, to not be taken as territory. Jawbones casually lounged in the liquid that would normally kill a Tuffle within seconds of being submerged, letting it dissolve all the dirt and grime from her body. There were a few snake-like Saibabeasts nearby, clicking and chattering amongst themselves. Jawbones sighed, causing a few bubbles to emit from her submerged jaws. The 'gift' of intelligence from the Tuffles unfortunately made her aware of how dull most beasts were. If she even found her pack, was it even possible to fit in anymore?
As her eyes wandered with her thoughts, Jawbones caught eye of something pecuilular. A thin trail of smoke originating from the other shore of the lagoon... A campfire, perhaps? Jawbones had started and used small fires herself to cook, but no other beast had the brains to do so- this had to be an intruder. She growled to herself, dipping beneath the dense lime lake's surface to approach and investigate.
A shark-like fin later protruded from the lake's surface as Jawbones navigated into the shore of the lake, filled with marine plants that helped keep her cover to a degree. Lo and behold there was indeed a small campsite, clearly man-made. Stepping out of the lake with a few low grumbles and clicks a ways away from the camp in a low, hunting stance, Jawbones could smell someone strong in the air nearby...

Thread PL: 5,000 | Antisense: Active The bubbling pits of the acidic lagoon were... acidic. Hence why most things that weren't Saiba-beasts stayed far away from it given that even a drop of the vile liquid was usually enough to chew through most low grade armors. Pursla was made of tougher stuff though and even a sustained dousing of the swamp juice would only be enough to cause minor irritation and a possible rash later. The location in the midst of the breeding pits served well as hunting ground when the prospect of eggs and vegetables grew tiresome. Most Saiba-beasts were plantlike in texture and taste, but it was at least an upgrade from wild berries and de-thorned leaves. Rarely Pursla even had a chance to catch a meat-based animal which was next to luxurious for someone like her. The campsite Pursla had set up was barebones, lined with a few stones around a smoking set of branches and some furs held up by branches.
She wasn't particularly worried about any of the creatures bothering her either, given most of them knew well enough to steer clear of the furred wild Saiyan. Pursla was at home here as much as they were, and any tricks or acid attacks would end very poorly in their favor. Of course she also knew how dull most of them were with very very rare exceptions. There was no reason to suspect that any of the creatures around here would be capable of plotting much if at all. The hybrid was about to return to camp, a meaty avian type animal in tow. It was a rare catch around these parts, and Pursla could only hope her ember filled pit was still smoking by the time she returned. Yet as she cleared the brush, a Saiba-beast was investigating her campsite, clearly in a defensive posture.
Pursla didn't look alarmed in the slightest, giving the creature a curious glance before lugging her catch closer to the fire. She didn't expect it to attack and if it did Pursla was confident she could handle it. "You're a bold one," She commented idly, not expecting a reply as the hybrid fanned the smoking fire with a leaf. "If you want food you're gonna have to wait." There was more than enough to share at least a bit. Pursla was out of salts so preserving the meat for longer than a few days wasn't really an option.
The resident of this campsite was... very odd looking. The hairy saiyan looked nothing like the rest of the hunters of her kind that Jawbones had vanquished at a glance, and her casually waving off the beast stalking her was strange as well. Jawbones quieted her growling, narrowing her eyes as she tilted her head to the side. Every other Saiyan up until now jumped at the chance to hunt what they saw as a mindless Saiba-beast.
"...You strange." A voice chirped back to Pursla. Jawbones' tone was raspy and grumbly, as her vocal chords weren't adapted to speak in the common tongue. "You hunter, too? Tailed two-leggers attack by now, usually." Jawbones usually didn't like to speak in this language- it wasn't like most people cared to listen beyond the initial shock of a talking dinosaur anyways- but the scent of this woman was unlike anything Jawbones had seen from her kind before.
Cautiously, as she still couldn't brush off the possibility of a later attack once the saiyan had fed herself, Jawbones fully pulled herself ashore, shaking the acidic liquid off herself as she stared, unblinking at Pursla.
Pursla blinked, taken aback for a moment that the Saiba vocalized something in understandable tongue. It wasn't the first time she'd heard a Saiba perform such a feat, but it still was exceedingly rare. "You can talk our tongue? I have a blue Saibaman friend, he is Kawaireman. He can speak like you too. We trade things very often." Pursla paused for a moment to gather her thoughts, before continuing on in a series of grunts and clicks that greatly resembled how Saibamen 'spoke': "I hunt for eat. No attack you." She had picked up on it after spending a great deal of time among the 'rainbow' squad as Pursla called them. Intelligent enough to trade and build basic things but only one had the smarts to speak words understandable by most Saiyans. Pursla clicked her tongue as a stray droplet of acid fell to her skin, flicking it off momentarily without much visible damage. "...You can still have some if you want, I just like to cook meat first. It is tasty and stops sickness." It wasn't like sickness was very common to either a Saiba or a hybrid who had lived in these very wastes her entire life, but better safe than sorry.
